Cox Marijuana Drink?

Feeling generous today, and I did make references to these episodes before, at least in the comments sections of my other reviews.  So returning to the BOD for some more Exciting *&^%ing Superfriends Action.  We’re going back to the Super Powers era of the show with perhaps a look at Hanna-Barbera attempting to create their own version of the Teen Titans, and more.

Tooned In: Early Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles Commercials (Early ’70s)

By No One Can Beat Megabucks on 5th April 2025

Patreon update: my first Superfriends exclusive is up, in which they face off with the Gentleman Ghost.  Also featuring a lot of emergencies at sea, and Superman and Green Lantern harassing an elephant.  Check it out, and more, by joining here.  As always, there’s free and paying memberships.

I’ll still provide content here, though, mainly shows or versions of shows I didn’t review yet.  Today, I’m thinking outside the MeTV box and heading to YouTube for the genesis of an iconic series of cereal ads sponsored by an equally iconic cartoon series.

Tooned In: Popeye – Hello How Am I? and Barbecue for Two (1939, 1960)

By No One Can Beat Megabucks on 31st January 2025

RIP John Erwin, what can I say about my He-Man fandom that I never said before?

RIP, maybe or maybe not temporarily, to Rocky and Bullwinkle on the MeTV Toons schedule.  I don’t really watch it, but I appreciate it when I do, and I know it has fans.  Not 100 percent sure what the story is there, but it sounds like what happened to WordPlay on Buzzr; i.e. the channel overestimated its rights to air it.  Or it could be that the license expired.  Who knows?  I’ll be optimistic and pretend they’re getting fresh prints with the original music in place.

Anyway, after a visit for the holidays, we’re back with Popeye in this edition.  This time we have two ends of his animation spectrum, with one short from what many consider the peak of his appearances, and another that was the literal beginning of an era pointed at as the series’ low point…albeit a nostalgic one for some Popeye fans.

Tooned In: Superfriends – The Legendary Super Powers Show (1984)

By No One Can Beat Megabucks on 11th December 2024

(You know you got guys who want to be more comic accurate when the title shows nobody flying who’s not supposed to fly…)

Anyone who follows me close enough knows I am obsessed with MeTV Toons.  So this is a test column focused on that.  Anyway, with its variety of classic, 90s-and-back (with a sprinkle of 2000 and up), it’s really hard not to like.  For those of you who missed the “original” Cartoon Network, or if it was…before your time…there I am admitting I’m OLD…MeTVT is pretty much what it used to be.  Most of its content too comes from Warner Discovery owned properties, so you get the likes of Scooby-Doo, the Flintstones, various Yogi Bear series, Tom and Jerry…their usual heavy hitters.  There’s also other studios’ characters such as Mister Magoo, Popeye, the Harveytoons stable (Casper, Herman and Katnip, and….sigh…Baby Huey…), the Walter Lantz group headed by Woody Woodpecker, Rocky and Bullwinkle, even some old-time anime like Speed Racer and Supermarionation shows in the wee hours.

And this past October, they introduced the Superfriends to the lineup at last.
