AAA Review – 04.18.26/04.25.26

By Niz on 27 April 2026

The current list of WWE and related companies recaps is as follows: Wrestlemania Saturday | Wrestlemania Sunday | Raw | NXT | Evolve | Impact | Smackdown

I’m doing some catch-up on AAA currently having missed the Wrestlemania weekend show, and then having some stuff happening this past weekend that kept me busier than I would have expected. So, you get two shows in one review. The 04.18 show can be found HERE and the 04.25 show can be found HERE. The American announcers for the shows remain the same – Corey Graves on matchcalls, and JBL and Rey Mysterio on analysis and translations. Let’s watch some LUCHA!

04.18.26

Live from Mexico City, we see Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana prior to their defense of the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles, and here are The War Raiders entering as Ivar will be taking on Psycho Clown tonight. Los Psycho Circus enter together and seem to be on the same page, but we’ll see if it lasts.

Aerostar vs Joaquin Wilde vs Lince Dorado

Dorado starts with some aggressive offense and he wipes out Aerostar with a backbreaker that gets two. Dorado dumps Aerostar to the floor, and then goes to work on Wilde. Aerostar and Wilde team up to dump Dorado, and then Wilde grabs a quick roll up on Aerostar that gets two. Wilde mashes Aerostar with a lariat before catching Dorado’s top rope jump and turning it into an inverted Atomic Drop. Wilde takes out both Aerostar and Dorado with a rolling backdrop/DDT combo before trying covers on both and getting two. Aerostar shakes off the damage and hits a double stomp on Wilde that sends him to the floor. Aerostar follows that up with a flying back elbow to a charging Dorado. Dorado fires up with a lofted facebreaker and reverse thrust kick that sends Aerostar to the floor. Dorado hits a long-distance tope suicida on Aerostar, and then both of them are crushed by a Wilde top rope rolling tackle. Wilde dumps Aerostar back in and hits a springboard rolling neckbreaker before folding Aerostar up in a submission hold. Dorado sneaks in from behind and pulls Wilde’s perfectly coiffed hair. Dorado hits a double stunner on both of his opponents and then waffles Wilde with a stunner that gets two.

Wilde dumps Dorado to the floor and then mashes Aerostar with a superkick. Wilde hits a 360 facebreaker and covers Aerostar for two. Wilde ascends and gets met by Aerostar to slug it out up there. Wilde wants a sunset flip powerbomb and finally manages it, but Dorado breaks up the cover with a Shooting Star Press on both guys. Dorado hits a brainbuster on Wilde and Aerostar breaks up the cover with a senton. Aerostar hits a springboard Codebreaker on Dorado that sends him to the floor and Aerostar follows with a tope on Dorado. Aerostar goes to the other side to mash Wilde with a tope, and then goes back in to deal with Dorado. Aerostar hits a running cutter on Dorado, and then they slug it out on a top turnbuckle. Aerostar hits a rana off the top rope, but Dorado rolls all the way through and covers Aerostar for three.

This was a little more slower-paced than I was expecting but none of these three are young men anymore, so perhaps this pace better suits all of them. A tactical lucha match is interesting to watch, and you could see everyone kind of poking and prodding at their opponents trying to figure out weaknesses. I enjoyed this a bunch. 3*

Winner – Lince Dorado (roll through roll up on Aerostar)

The War Raiders are beating up Murder Clown backstage when Pagano and Psycho Clown come flying in to lend some assistance. The Raiders retreat as soon as they no longer have the numbers advantage. We go to commercials.

EARLIER TODAY Dorian Roldan sat at Marisela Pena’s desk and told his mother that they are missing out on some opportunities because they could have had El Hijo Del Vikingo go to Wrestlemania as Intercontinental champion if it hadn’t been for Mini Vikingo’s interference. Roldan wants to be named the new AAA General Manager to see about leading them into the future. Pena asks for a week to think about it, and Roldan nods sadly.

AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship: Mr. Iguana and Lola Vice (C) vs Dinamico and La Hiedra

Vice and Hiedra start barking at each other prior to the bell, and it will be Iguana and Dinamico to start. La Yesca is with Iguana, as usual. Iguana fires up a heaadbutt and a rana to start things. Hiedra and Vice tag in and it gets physical immediately. Vice grabs an elbow lock and then transitions to a side headlock. Vice dumps Hiedra down and then dances, so Hiedra rises for some shimmy of her own. There’s an exchange of leg sweeps and then Hiedra trucks Vice. Vice puts on an armbar and Iguana flies in to slap an armbar on Dinamico. Dinamico rises and dumps Iguana down but then turns right into Vice’s series of low kicks. Hiedra cuts off the flurry by dumping Vice down and then wants a Hip Attack on a prone Iguana. Instead, she fakes it and stops so that Dinamico can fly in with a missile dropkick to Iguana’s face. Hiedra goes to ground and pound on Vice and then starts clubbering away. Hiedra kicks Vice low, and then mounts her in a corner for a dropkick. Hiedra covers and gets two.

Hiedra spanks Vice and then slaps on a headlock. Vice fires up and dumps Hiedra with a belly-to-back suplex. Iguana and Dinamico tag in and Iguana snaps off his helicopter rana before grabbing a roll up for two. Dinamico fires up with a cutter and cradles Iguana for two. Vice tags in and Iguana smacks Dinamico with La Yesca. Hiedra charges in and Iguana sicks La Yesca on her, while Vice hits a Hip Attack and Stinkface on a prone Dinamico. Iguana hits a rana on Dinamico on the floor, but Hiedra charges in and rolls up Vice. Vice immediately slips it and slaps on a rear naked choke but Hiedra rolls over and gets a quick two. Iguana smacks Hiedra with La Yesca and then Vice wastes Hiedra with a spinning back kick. Vice hits a seated senton on Hiedra on the floor. Dinamico rocks Iguana with a superkick and then crushes him with a lofted powerbomb that gets two. Dinamico hoists Iguana on his shoulders, so Iguana hits a twisting facebreaker and covers Dinamico for three.

The finish kind of came out of nowhere, but I thought otherwise this was just good fun. There were some interesting spots as there usually are in the mixed tag matches, but everyone did their part and the face champs retain. 2.5*

Winners AND STILL AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions – Mr. Iguana and Lola Vice (Iguana twisting facebreaker on Dinamico)

LAST WEEK saw a heinous attack by El Grande Americano Original where he not only took Octagon Jr’s mask, but also threatened a couple of celebrities sitting ringside. El Grande Americano Nuevo rushed in to attack EGA-O and a gigantic brawl broke out between them that continued for the rest of the show. A Luchas de Apuestas challenge was issued by Nuevo for mask vs mask for the May 23rd super show!

Here’s El Grande Americano Nuevo in a locker room talking to Texano who gives EGA some advice that the love of the people will be the thing that stays with EGA the longest, not the various accolades. EGA wants to team with Texano and Texano agrees because of how much Grande has embraced lucha and Mexico. We go to commercials.

Graves runs down the card for the 25th show that will include Texano and EGA talking on El Mesias and Mecha Wolf, and La Catalina having a chat about her recent confrontation with Lady Flammer.

Ivar vs AAA Tag Team Champion Psycho Clown

Psycho goes right to work and they start exchanging running splashes. Ivar trucks Psycho down but Psycho fires up with some forearms in response. Psycho hits a springboard torneo and then he and Ivar tumble to the floor after a Psycho lariat. Psycho hits a running shoulder tackle and then runs Ivar back in. Ivar fires up with a rolling powerslam that gets two. Ivar slugs Psycho in the back and then walks on and over Psycho’s back. Ivar runs Psycho into a corner and then walks over him again. Psycho gets a quick flurry cut off by an Ivar kneelift, but Psycho keeps going with a headbutt and an enziguri. Ivar shakes all of that off and mashes a charging Psycho with a standing senton. Ivar misses a charge and Psycho follows it with a missile dropkick to Ivar’s back. Psycho ascends and mashes Ivar with a split-legged moonsault that gets two.

Ivar misses a charge and gets dumped to the mat by a Psycho roundhouse kick. Psycho hits a running boot to Ivar’s face and then ascends. Psycho jumps right into an Ivar front slam. Ivar powerslams Psycho and ascends but he misses his moonsault attempt. Ivar hits a spinning kick and a Tiger Bomb that only gets two. Ivar mounts Psycho on a top turnbuckle and ascends to start slugging it out. Psycho rises and snaps off a sunset flip powerbomb and a Mexican Destroyer that only gets two. Ivar misses a roundhouse and Psycho hits a kick that drives Ivar into the referee. Psycho hoists Ivar for the Psycho Driver but there’s no official to count. Erik hits the ring and he and Psycho start slugging it out. The numbers catch up with Psycho as they team up for a powerslam that gets three after the referee recovers.

Hey, this was fun as hell for a lucha hoss match. Psycho actually getting Ivar up for the Psycho Driver was a hell of a visual, quite frankly. There’s a big time match coming between the Circus and the Raiders and I’m betting that might be another match on the May 23rd super show. There’s good chemistry here. 3.5*

Winner – Ivar (double team powerslam while the referee was down)

Just after the bell, Pagano makes an appearance as JBL openly questions where he was while the double teaming was happening. Psycho and Pagano get into it a bit as Psycho seems really pissed that Pagano wasn’t out to help earlier. They scream at other all the way to the back and some pushing and shoving happens. Pagano warns Psycho about accusing him, and then Psycho leaves. Psycho finds Murder Clown down in a heap and a black bandana nearby! INTRIGUE as the credits roll and we’re out.

A solid episode with a fun hoss main event. The mixed tag match had all the usual shenanigans that an Iguana match typically have, and the three way opener was also a good showcase for three older talents. This was a solid episode and this show continues to be the most fun hour of the week!

04.25.26

Another show from Mexico CIty, and here’s Rey Fenix and La Parka walking a hallway discussing strategy for their tag match later. El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jr makes his entrance with a big bout on tonight’s card. We then see El Mesias and Mecha Wolf arriving prior to their opponents for this evening, Texano and El Grande Americano Nuevo also discussing strategy for the main event!

Money Machine (Garra de Oro and Comillo del Plata) vs Rey Fenix and La Parka

Money Machine attack prior to the bell but Parka and Fenix recover to hit stereo tope suicidas. Parka ascends and hits a frog splash on Oro as the bell rings. Parka’s cover gets two. Plata flies in and Parka stops him with a knee lift and side headlock. Oro tags in and he and Plata want a double vertical suplex, but Parka reverses and hits them both with it instead. Fenix tags in and he eats double superkicks as Oro grabs a cover for two. Oro pounds away and then tags Plata back in. Plata hits a running lariat on a prone Fenix, and then yanks him up for a powerbomb. Fenix slips off and snaps off an enziguri to cut off Plata’s flurry. Oro flies around to yank Parka off the apron so Fenix can’t make a tag. Oro hits a huge cross-body on Fenix and gets a LONG two.

Plata starts dropping elbows on a prone Fenix and then runs him over with a clothesline. Oro and Plata slam Fenix into their corner but he meets Oro’s charge with a superkick. Fenix fights his way out of the corner and Parka comes in to run riot on both Oro and Plata. Parka hits a lofted powerbomb on Oro and covers him for two. Fenix tags in and Money Machine dumps Parka to the floor so Plata can flatten him with a tope. Oro nails Fenix with a clothesline and then drops him with a belly-to-back suplex. Plata misses a swanton and Fenix waffles him with a superkick. Oro hits a dropkick on Fenix and Parka misses an extremely long dropkick attempt as all four guys are down. Fenix snaps off a kaman giri while Parka flies all the way out to crush Plata. Fenix yanks Oro up for a sitout Mexican Muscle Buster and that gets three.

I enjoy Money Machine thoroughly as rudo opponents for thrown together technico teams like Parka and Fenix. They know how to make people look good while still getting their stuff in. This was a proper lucha tag match and really showed off everyone’s best stuff while still moving at a solid pace. No problems with this as an opener. 3.5*

Winners – Fenix/La Parka (Fenix Muscle Buster on Oro)

Here’s a look at the long rivalry between Texano and El Mesias. They will meet again in the main event! We go to commercials.

La Catalina did a promo while in Las Vegas for Wrestlemania, calling getting to go to her first one a “dream come true”. She got to meet John Cena and marked out like anyone would in that situation. She also ran across AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio who reminded Catalina that it’s HIS company, while wishing her good luck. Catalina has re-invented herself since her prior time with WWE and really feels now that she’s ready for the challenge that Flammer and her exceptionally long reign presents.

AAA Cruiserweight Champion Laredo Kid vs AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo Del Dr. Wagner Jr

This is non-title both ways, just two champs getting in there to see who’s better on the evening. DW3 has not lost a singles match AAA for over a year now, which is incredible. Laredo works some slaps and a chop that staggers DW3 as the bout gets underway. DW3 responds with some clubbering and then sends a charging Laredo directly to the floor. Laredo hits a superkick on the floor when DW3 gives chase, and then flattens DW3 with a somersault plancha from the ring post. Laredo ascends again and hits a huge splash before turning DW3 over and getting two. Laredo puts the boots to DW3 and wants a surfboard, but DW3 crawls away to escape it. They start slugging it out and Laredo keeps working DW3’s back and kidneys with kicks after taking control. Laredo hits a springboard twisting moonsault and then ascends again. Laredo’s torneo misses and DW3 drops Laredo with a headbutt and then flattens him again with a huge overhand slap. DW3 crushes Laredo with a Death Valley Driver and covers him for two.

DW3 pulls the elbow pad off and immediately turns into a Laredo slap. Laredo hits a neckbreaker and DW3 slides to the floor. Laredo gives chase and hits a couple of kicks, but Laredo takes forever to show off and still manages to hit a 450 on the floor. Laredo runs DW3 back in and covers for two. Laredo clubbers away and then misses a charge. DW3 hits a big boot on the apron and then yanks Laredo up for a powerslam to the floor. DW3 drags Laredo back in and covers for two. DW3 hits a triple jump moonsault and covers Laredo for two. DW3 hits the Wagner Driver and covers Laredo for three.

Okay, I thought this absolutely ruled. I wish that this show was seen by more people than just the small portion of even our blog that watches it regularly, because this is a match that should be seen by a bigger audience. Just a terrific exhibition and one where Laredo, in a losing effort, still looked incredible. 4*

Winner – El Hijo Del Dr. Wagner Jr. (Wagner Driver)

Post-match sees Laredo snatch his title belt away from DW3, but DW3 still wants a handshake anyway. They shake on it and Laredo leaves slowly. JBL: “I’d have sucker punched him!”

Laredo runs into Rey Fenix backstage and Laredo tells Fenix he knows he wants a title shot but it’s out of jealousy and not a real desire. THAT’S COLD BLOODED, LAREDO.

Marisela Pena announces that she will be conducting a search for a new AAA General Manager in lieu of immediately giving the job to Dorian Roldan. The new GM will be named on May 23rd and nothing will be the same afterwards.

Mecha Wolf and El Mesias vs Texano and El Grande Americano Nuevo

The crowd is RABID for this, by the way. Between the Mesias-Texano rivalry and EGA-Nuevo being over like rover, I’m not surprised. Wolf starts out by clubbering away on EGA but EGA fires up with a leg lariat and a rolling armdrag. EGA pulls off a headstand before transitioning back into his armlock. EGA tags in Texano and he starts by working the arm. Wolf hangs onto the ropes after an irish whip and Mesias tags in. They go face to face before starting to slug it out. Mesias hits an elbow and a sunset flip, but Texano rolls right out of it and clobbers Mesias with a low rolling clothesline. Texano’s cover gets two and Meisas bails. Wolf charges in and gets dumped as well, but EGA and Texano think better of dives to the floor and celebrate in the ring. Mesias brings in a rope that the ref catches Texano holding. The ref takes the rope away and that gives the rudos the chance to take over. Mesias puts the boots to Texano and tags in Wolf. Mesias and Wolf hit a jumping Hart Attack type move and Wolf covers Texano for two.

Wolf tags in Mesias and they hit double-team kicks on Texano before Mesias covers him and gets two. Mesias works a rear chinlock Texano fires up with some elbows but Mesias cuts the flurry off by yanking Texano down by the hair. Mesias gets caught in a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and both guys make tags. EGA drops Wolf with a bunch of rights and then puts him in the lights with a big back body drop. EGA hits a right and ascends for a flying clothesline. Mesias breaks the cover up at two and Texano flies in with a right for Mesias. Everyone takes a turn hitting big moves, and Texano and Mesias start fighting it out on the floor. Wolf flies out to hit a tope on Texano and as he’s celebrationg EGA smashes him with a tope of his own. EGA rolls Wolf back in and fights off Mesias from behind. Texano flies in to spear Mesias through the barricade and EGA crawls back in. EGA hits a big right hand a diving headbutt. EGA slaps on La Cavernaria and Wolf taps immediately.

Three babyface wins on the show tonight should send the Mexico City crowd home very happy. I thought this was solid throughout and really had a lot of crowd heat behind it. EGA is so incredibly over, I cannot wait to see Luchas de Apuestas in a few weeks. The crowd really loved seeing Mesias and Texano hook it up again after a decade, and everything else worked really well here. A fine main event. 3.5*

Post-match sees a huge explosion of love for Texano as EGA leaves him alone in the ring to soak it in. Of course, this brings El Grande Americano Original out to attack Texano. EGA works Texano’s ankle in a corner before EGA-Nuevo comes flying back out. There’s a lot of yelling back and forth before EGA-Nuevo goes to check on Texano. Graves puts over the contract signing next week and we’re out.

It’s nice to see babyfaces win, you know? The guys and ladies that you’re supposed to root for actually win matches and make you feel good. It’s funny how often bookers don’t remember the simple stuff when it comes to our so-called-sport. Regardless, this was a breezy fifty minutes and everyone went home super happy. If you’re not watching this show, you should be.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Enjoy your day.
