The SmarK Rant for NWA Worldwide – 07.05.86

Taped from Rock Hill, SC on 06.24.86 I think.

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & David Crockett & Jim Cornette

The Rock N Roll Express v. The Golden Terror & George South

It’s a rare cold open right into the first match, as the RNR finish the Terror with the double dropkick at 0:25.

Jimmy Garvin joins Cornette, as Jim calls him “the greatest Indian fighter since General Custer”, and he wants everyone to know he’s not slowing down or running out of steam. And even if he was, he’d just request a kiss from Precious and then he’d be ready to go all over again. So don’t let his beauty fool you.

GREAT AMERICAN BASH UPDATE!

More great cities still to come. Like this one in Charlotte, which was happening the night this show aired!

The Warlord v. Mark Fleming

Powerslam finishes at 0:25.

Dusty & Magnum join us, and Dusty is skeptical that Jim Cornette is actually an ex-marine. So him and Magnum have their sights on the World tag team title, along with the Road Warriors and the Rock N Roll Express, and they’re gonna make sure Baby Doll finally gets her hands on Cornette.

Ole & Arn Anderson v. Don & Rocky Kernodle

Arn beats on Don in the corner, but Don hits him with a clothesline to chase him to the floor for a conference with Ole. Back in the ring, the Kernodles try to double-team Ole and it just ends up with the Wrecking Crew beating on him in their corner. So Don has to come in and save his brother, and that finally allows the babyfaces to work on Ole. And the Kernodles keep cheating as Don comes in without tags for double-teams, and then he hits Arn with a hammerlock slam. HOW DARE HE. Rocky comes in with a forearm off the top for two. Ole tries to work on Rocky’s arm, but Don tags in again and slugs him down. The Kernodles continue their illegal double-teaming but Ole fights his way out of it. Over to Arn, but Rocky hits him with a crossbody out of the corner for two and it’s a CHINESE FIRE DRILL according to Cornette. And Ole clobbers Rocky from behind to counter a sleeper on Arn, and AA pins him at 6:00. Really good TV match.

Jim Cornette threatens to stuff all of Baby Doll’s words back down her pig snout, and he’ll expose all her shortcomings as a valet, wrestler and WOMAN at the Bash tours. In fact he’s been working out, so if Magnum TA stopped by right now, Jim would slap him in the face and show off his training.

The Road Warriors v. Gene Ligon & Mike Simiani

The Warriors attack before the intro to “Iron Man” can even finish, double-teaming Simiani in the corner before Animal hits a press slam. Hawk with a clothesline to finish at 0:50.

Meanwhile, Ric Flair does a remote promo about the Bash, looking as only he can, WOO.

The Midnight Express v. Todd Champion & Nelson Royal

Nelson slugs away in the corner on Dennis, and it’s over to Todd for a double-team elbow. But then the MX works him over in their corner and Bobby slugs away on him. Back to Nelson to bail out his idiot partner again but he tries a flying headscissors on Bobby and gets clipped by Dennis as a result. Back to Champion as Cornette is just burying the guy like crazy and pointing out how green and useless he is. The Express tosses Champion and back in for more abuse from Bobby, as he turns around and throws Champion out again. Back in, Bobby finishes him off at 3:48 with a double elbow.

The Road Warriors join us as Cornette runs away from the desk, and Animal has Ric Flair at the Riverfront Stadium. And a concert from George Jones!

Nikita Koloff v. Tony Zane

Nikita beats on Zane in the corner and kills him dead with the Sickle, turning him inside out before finishing with a cobra sleeper at 0:41.

The Russians join us and all the talking is over for Magnum TA and Nephew Nikita, as they’ll do the best of 7 series for the US title.

The Barbarian & Baron Von Raschke v. Randy & Bill Mulkey

Cornette coins MULKEY-MANIA as Barbarian destroys them both by himself, and Baron puts a Mulkey down with a back elbow. Back to Barbarian with a KICK OF FEAR and he tosses the Mulkey to the floor and beats on him out there while Cornette pleads with Mother Mulkey to tell her children to retire from wrestling and leave it to professionals. Baron with a backbreaker and Barbarian finishes with the diving headbutt at 4:12.

Jim Cornette joins us again and announces that next week, we’ll talk to Mama Cornette live on TV. And he does another promo on Baby Doll, who will end up working in a burger place when he’s done with her.

Well at least he’s looking out for her employment prospects. That’s nice.

And the Bash tour is underway!
