WWE Mystery Trailer Sparks Talk Of Gunther’s Comeback

By Conor Renshaw on 27 October 2025

A new WWE video has ignited discussion as to whether it is hinting at the return of “The Ring General” Gunther.

WWE released a new video on Twitter that was only 15 seconds long and simply showed someone wearing dress shoes walking towards the camera. However, we never see the person’s face, or any other distinguishable features for that matter, as we just see their feet in the video.

The leading fan theory at the moment is that this video is signalling the return of Gunther, who hasn’t been seen in WWE since his SummerSlam World Heavyweight Title match loss to CM Punk in the main event of the show. The reason people believe this is because it was recently reported that John Cena’s final opponent for his retirement at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 will be Gunther.

Besides Gunther, Who Else Are Fans Speculating The Video Is For?

Other than Gunther, some other fan theories suggest that the video is there to tease the return of Chris Jericho to the WWE. This is due to rumours swirling that Jericho is leaving AEW soon to return to WWE. Jericho has not been seen on AEW programming since the April 9 episode of Dynamite, when his Learning Tree faction was disbanded and Jericho said that he would be leaving for a while.

AEW President Tony Khan has been deliberately vague when asked about Jericho’s contract status with the company in recent interviews.

Who do you think the video is for? Is it for Gunther, or is it for Jericho? And if it is for Jericho, who would you want to see Y2J feud with from the current WWE roster?
