Cody Rhodes Believes Brock Lesnar “Fits Right In” With WWE’s Current Direction

Cody Rhodes says Brock Lesnar fits in with WWE’s current direction in terms of “sports meeting entertainment.”
Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE at SummerSlam, attacking John Cena soon after the star lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. The event marked Lesnar’s first appearance since being defeated at SummerSlam back in 2023.
The Beast Incarnate’s lengthy absence from the company was due to his being named in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE. The suit alleges that McMahon had offered Lesnar a sexual encounter with Grant during formal contract negotiations. It’s also claimed that McMahon ordered Grant to send sexually explicit content of herself to Lesnar, while Lesnar is said to have asked her directly for explicit videos.
Despite the controversy that continues to surround Lesnar, WWE’s legal team is reported to have cleared him several weeks before his appearance, and he has seemingly been considered part of the active roster for even longer.

During an appearance on ESPN, Cody Rhodes was asked about Lesnar’s return. The American Nightmare responded by referring to WWE’s NIL programme and efforts to bring pro athletes into the company.
“Brock, in terms of athleticism, one of the things — we held tryouts going into SummerSlam weekend and you have so many NIL athletes and so many people coming from the world of sport. Tiffany Stratton is a great example, someone on our roster now who came from the world of sport and has grown into becoming a professional wrestler and part of sports entertainment.”
According to Rhodes, Lesnar’s experience in both sports and entertainment makes him an ideal fit for the promotion.
Brock is somebody who is a NCAA Champion, UFC Heavyweight Champion, he fits right in with the direction that WWE is going in terms of sport meeting entertainment.”
