Megabucks Presents

Well, Scott has a different idea in mind over on the Vaults, so I figured what the heck, I’ll cover this one really fast, as I (spoiler) really enjoyed the collection.

With all the little nods to the show I’ve made in the past, it was as inevitable as Thanos that I would fit this in somewhere.  It was easier than, well, fitting….ready?….fitting a square peg in a round hole.

Piggyback time, as Scott of course just looked at the beginning of the UWF’s 1987, and I took that opportunity to handle something I meant to do for awhile : an episode from the latter part of the year, as well as the latter part of the UWF’s existence in general.  See, I was actually thinking of this out of an odd nostalgic Halloween memory, since our local channel picked up UWF ala Crockett around the time we were getting ready for spooky season.  Second, Thanksgiving is almost here, which up until 1987 also meant Starrcade, and as such, it and Survivor Series are part of my nostalgia for that holiday.  So what better way to capture both of these than with the episode that actually aired on October 31st, 1987, and was starting the build to Starrcade ’87?

Your second flashback of the day!  Again, my modern notes are in bold italics, this did come from 20+ years ago so not all of it holds up today, etc. etc.  

It’s that time again, for me to reach into my writing vault and update one of my old reviews for Daily Diatribes. This time I will be looking at an episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event, that staple of every ‘80s wrestling fan’s memories (ah, the good old days when I had to pester my parents to remember to set the VCR for 11:30, then an unholy hour indeed for a grade school boy such as myself).

Note: This is the Megabucks Sez edition of something I wrote about 20+ years ago.  Notes from present-day me, as always, will be in bold italics.  Also, 2002 was a different time, so please excuse some jokes.  I’ll probably call myself out on them too. 

With GWF content seemingly on the BOD shelf for now, figured I’d go back to when I attempted to review something from the company’s post-Jump the Shark phase.  This too originally appeared on The Heel’s Daily Diatribes website.  

Going back to my early 2000s archives again for what will be once more a timely piece, since we are trying to get the Fantastic Four on the big screen, AGAIN.  Exactly 20 years later no less!  

On that topic, RIP Julian McMahon, who may very well be by default the best Victor Von Doom on-screen, even if the MCU version is good, it’s still multiverse Tony Stark, yes?   

This is earlier me reviewing, so expect lists, bullet points, etc.  Also some language and humor that was from a different time.  I’ve grown up since then, I promise!   Now, onto 2005….
