WWE Main Event Review – 8.20.26

It’s Thursday night and it is time for the A-show, WWE Main Event!

So, WWE screwed up. They advertised three matches for the show and then only included one in the broadcast. I’m not sure if they’ll go back and edit in the two others matches, but if they do I’ll come back and write about them too. If they don’t come back with them, they accidentally cut out Wendy Choo vs Maxxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa vs Jasper Troy. Next week we have Raw and SmackDown being taped on the same night, so maybe they knew they wouldn’t have much for Main Event.

Giulia vs Michin (with B-Fab)

It’s our opening contest and our main event! As the Blog’s resident Michin fan, I’m excited to see what she and Giulia can do together. This is Giulia’s third Main Event match this year with a 2-0 record thanks to wins over Kiana James in July and Jordynne Grace in June. She’s actually getting to be on SmackDown tomorrow night, though she’s battling the debuting Blake Monroe so I don’t like her odds. Michin hasn’t been on Main Event since November when she too defeated Kiana James. She’s been on and off this show over the years, first appearing in 2020 as Reckoning and defeating Nikki Cross.

The women start with a lot of back and forth headlocks and pin reversals, making referee Felix Hernandez do some work. Michin smacks Giulia down to the boos of the crowd before Giulia nails her with a flying kick. Giulia smashes Michin in the corner with a knee and heads to the second rope, landing a beautiful missile dropkick. Giulia ties Michin up in the ropes and licks at her face because why not. They knew I’ve had a rough week and would be writing about this show. Giulia slides outside and smacks Michin to the floor with a hangman neckbreaker. Really nice.

Giulia rolls Michin back in and B-Fab clotheslines her down as Hernandez checks on Michin. With Giulia rolled back in, Michin punts Giulia in the back as Howard tells us about CM Punk making a visit to the NXT live events. Michin locks a surfboard on Giulia who is able to flip herself onto Michin for a two. Michin leaps onto Giulia with the Front Chancery, Giulia able to flip her off after half a minute or so as commentary notes the absence of Jade Cargill, a woman who is not going to come to Main Event.

Giulia and Michin trade blows, Giulia ducking a roundhouse. Giulia uppercuts Michin and ranas Michin to the ropes, booting her as B-Fab watches on. Giulia hooks Michin’s legs and stomps her face-first to the mat which always looks UGLY (in a good way), Michin able to kick out somehow. Giulia nails Arrivederci and covers but B-Fab puts Michin’s boot on the rope, the ref again missing it. Giula knocks B-Fab off the apron and turns around into the Styles Clash from Michin, securing the Baddie a win.

Michin pins Giulia. This was a really good match. These two are good dance partners. I’d recommend giving this one a shot. I’d also argue these two belong above Main Event, but they probably enjoyed getting ten minutes against each other.

And, well, that’s our episode. Somewhere, a member of the WWE production team is being yelled at. The match we saw was good.
