This week, we start right off in San Diego with Nikki & Brie, WWE Divas taking a ride.  Nikki says that her parents didn’t care and she didn’t do a lot of homework, so that’s why she doesn’t use a lot of big words or sound “super smart.”  They debate the correct term for a person who cuts down trees as Brie tells us that having “twin language” has hurt their regular language skills.

It’s Tuesday, so we must be taking another look back at the week in women’s wrestling and pretending I posted this on Monday.  This week we crash into War Games and have a surprise big name on Ring of Honor.

Let’s see what was big news back then!

We’ve had quite the ride, but today we finish off WWE’s 2021 “50 Greatest Women Superstars” series with the top five.  

You can catch up with the previous parts here: 50-36, 35-21, 20-11, and 10-6.

It’s a little over a decade since WWE and E! first graced us with Total Divas, and as the diva (by default, really) of this site I’ve taken on the task of watching the series for the first time.  The exclusion would be the first two episodes which I have watched.  This time, however, I’m all in.  Will I regret it?  Probably!

Last week we watched the series premiere, which you can find here.  All episodes are available for your viewing and streaming pleasure on Peacock and Hulu in the US and on WWE Network elsewhere.  Episode two, titled “A Tango With Fandango,” first aired August 4, 2013.

Can you believe it’s my sixth week tracking the week in women’s wrestling?  This week, the big three threw a lot at us.  AEW held Full Gear, their first PPV (or non-Ring of Honor) show with more than one women’s match on it since May.  Truly exciting times!

As requested, I’m continuing to evolve the formula here.  Before diving into the shows, I’m going to dive into where the stories have been going with each company (and breaking WWE down into Raw, SmackDown and NXT and AEW down to AEW and ROH since there are particular stories there).  This will give you a little more insight into, for example, why you should care that Xia Li is threatening Becky Lynch if you’re joining in for the first time.

Today I figured I’ll give “WWE Confidential” a try since there’s a few seasons worth on Peacock (and WWE Network internationally). I don’t think I watched it when it originally aired in 2002 and I’m sure it is very much a show that fit better in the time it aired.  I didn’t watch much live in 2002, really.  Either way, it’s short and doesn’t have matches for me to badly recap.  The guys here recap matches well.  I leave that to them.

Confidential originally aired on TNN/Spike TV late Saturday nights and was a magazine-style show.  It was known for breaking kayfabe at times and being a little more “inside baseball” than other WWE programming.

We’re back with the next episode of WWE’s 2021 50 Great Women Superstars countdown show.  This week, we dive into the top ten.

Apologies for the delay since last time.  Migraines suck.

Here we are, “Total Divas.”  Believe it or not, I’ve only seen the first two episodes of this despite being the target audience.  This is my chance to change that.  You know, because there are other better shows like “Better Call Saul” that I could finish but then I’d miss out on Eva Marie’s story arc.

This show was crafted largely by the same minds behind MTV’s “Real World” with some WWE supervision.  Unlike “Real World,” these women aren’t strangers.  They’re divas!  All accounts are that, per reality TV rules, not everything we’re going to see is reality.  Things also appear out of order sometimes.

Happy Monday and welcome to another exciting week of women’s wrestling.  Last week our big three companies gave us 22 matches with women.  What will happen this week with no pay-per-views or special events?

It’s time for another exciting week in women’s wrestling.  We have two extra special events this week, one from WWE and one from Impact.  Will the numbers go up due to this?  They definitely will for Impact since they aired no new wrestling last week.  Let’s run through the week!

It’s our second week rounding up the news and results of the women’s divisions for the big three – WWE, AEW and Impact.  As always, we’ll go show by show and grade based on opportunity and time given.  But first…

Women’s news!  The PWI 250 listing of the top 250 women wrestlers came out with Mami on top, as Rhea Ripley took home the trophy.  The others in the top four included Guilia, Bianca Belair, Jaime Hayter and Tam Nakano.  Athena came in a few spots too low for my book at 6, but it’s a great overall list.

Now, let’s check out the programming our millionaire overlords have provided for us.  Have they blessed us with a bounty of women’s wrestling this week?  (Probably not.)

Hello and welcome to the first of hopefully many columns looking at the state of women’s wrestling.  Scott has graciously given me the opportunity to write here and, as a long time fan of both wrestling and Scott’s work, I’m honored to be here.  I’m starting with these but hope to throw some show recaps and other content at the wall as well as time allows.  You might recognize me from the comments where I usually complain about women’s wrestling and/or mention that Rhea Ripley is hot.  You might also know me from Twitter, where I do the same but with added Samantha Irvin appreciation.

The goal of this column is to take a more in-depth look at what often gets the least attention on shows – the women.  We’ve never had a more talented group of women throughout the rosters, yet often times it is a fight to get them on shows.  A lot of people miss how marketable the women can be or blame it on “well, they don’t draw.”  They do in fact draw when given the build, but sometimes you have got to start a build to make people care.  If Sami Zayn was never on TV or stuck on Main Event, I’m not sure he’d be where he is.  In a world where women haven’t gotten more than one match on the two-hour Dynamite in 2023 and one match on the latest WWE PLE, there is room for improvement.  Representation is important, yes, but I just feel like there’s so much missed money being left on the table by the companies.

My goal is to break it down by day and by show for three companies – WWE, AEW and Impact.  I’m just going with the three main companies because those are the most accessible and the ones I watch.  I’m including NXT in with WWE and Ring of Honor with AEW as, many times, those shows are intertwined with the main company shows.  I’m going to take it day by day, break down each show, and dig in a little bit.  My goal is to hopefully make people care a little more about the women’s action here but also to bring attention to it.  I think there are some talented performers being missed as well, and I plan to draw your attention to them.

Tonight, it’s the top 25 moments in WWE SmackDown history!  Well, of sorts.  Airing in October 2023 as a Sunday afternoon special, this condenses decades of content into an hour special.  This is, of course, also a WWE production which means that your mileage on the rankings may vary.  Let’s get into it!’
