AAA Review – 08.15.26

By Niz on 16 August 2026

We write a lot: Raw | NXT | Evolve | Main Event | Impact | Smackdown

AAA comes to Youtube LIVE tonight from Coliseo Centenario in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. The American announcing team consists of Corey Graves on match calls, and AAA GM Rey Mysterio and John Bradshaw Layfield handling match analysis. There are SO many big AAA events coming up with some huge stakes, so let’s watch some lucha!

Then, Now, Forever……TOGETHER

Here’s some highlights of AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio‘s conversation with Andrea Bazarte. Mysterio vowed to leave Triplemania after showing the world why he is King of the Luchadores.

El Grande Americano was given a HUGE welcome in Torreon yesterday, and the Lucha Brothers reunited for tonight’s big show so that Penta can support his brother AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix. Also arriving are La Parka and Psycho Clown, who will face off tonight in the Roman Reigns tournament.

Here’s Dominik Mysterio being attacked by El Grande Americano in a parking garage. Rey Mysterio leaves commentary to try to assist as the fight spills into the arena and down the ramp. They end up in the ring and EGA mashes Mysterio with a tope suicida before whaling away with a shoe. EGA hits a Thesz press and here’s Rey Mysterio in to break things up. EGA doesn’t want to hear it and walks right into a punch in the nuts from Dom. Rey and Dom go eye to eye and Dom bails with a recovered EGA being held back by Rey. Rey grabs a microphone and EGA takes it to tell Dom that at this point, it’s not personal anymore, it’s so much bigger. EGA’s problem is wondering how people are going to discuss this era because Dom will struggle to be compared to El Santo, Mil Mascaras, Blue Demon, and Rey Mysterio. EGA says Dom will never be compared to those men because they gave all to wrestling while Dom only cares about taking things away from wrestling. EGA says Dom calling himself King of the Luchadores but a king never runs from a fight. A true king will always fight for his crown, his people, and his country, says EGA, and that’s the difference between the two. EGA says with or without the championship, HE is the king and the only true El Grande Americano. EGA says at Triplemania he will take the title for Rey Mysterio, for PIMPI, and for himself. Dom backs up the ramp and EGA and Rey shake hands before Rey makes his exit.

I swear to you, I have been watching wrestling for a very long time and I have never seen anything like this EGA phenomenon. No matter what you think of EGA from a moves/workrate perspective, he is absolutely the most over babyface I think I’ve seen in a wildly long time. Again, he cuts a money promo here after a solid brawl while being embraced by the rabid fans in Torreon. Great stuff to open the show.

Graves lets the world know that you can now listen to AAA on their radio venture on satellite every Saturday night. I bet that’s an interesting broadcast.

AAA Cruiserweight Championship: Rey Fenix (C) vs Noisy Boy

Tirantes is your referee and that’s certainly a choice for a cruiserweight match. There’s some respect to start and Fenix snaps off a dropkick after a bunch of rope-running. Fenix misses a baseball slide and gets caught with a Noisy dropkick and tope con hilo. Noisy tosses Fenix back in and runs in to a Fenix superkick that gets two. Fenix does some corner damage but Noisy fires up with a rana. Noisy gets tripped up along the ropes so Fenix blasts him with a kick and ascends for a frog splash. Fenix ascends for a second frog splash and gets two. Noisy hits some apron moves and blasts Fenix with a kick before hitting a springboard cutter for two. Fenix catches Noisy during a charge and destroys him with a Fenix Driver for two. Fenix hits a running knee and mounts Noisy for the MMB, but Noisy slips down and slaps Fenix in the chest. Noisy hits a springboard poison rana (!) for two. Noisy hits a cartwheel moonsault and covers Fenix for two. Noisy ascends and misses a moonsault, so Fenix hits the running meteora and the Mexican Muscle Buster finishes things.

For a sprint, Noisy got a lot of shine. I think he’ll be one to watch moving forward as he’s got the chops to be a player. It’s a matter of where and when for him. Fenix is on a good run right now with this Cruiserweight title and he’s settled down, it feels like. This was a fun sprint. 3.25*

Winner AND STILL AAA Cruiserweight Champion – Rey Fenix (Mexican Muscle Buster)

Post-match sees Penta emerge to greet his brother on the ramp. Fenix sends Penta to the ring as he makes his exit. Penta grabs a mic and gets a huge reception from the crowd. Penta thanks Torreon for the reception and says he’s here to speak about one person who’s name is Roman Reigns. Penta says Reigns has never faced a wrestler like Penta, a man who fights every day to follow his dreams. Penta tells Reigns that he doesn’t need a faction or family to accomplish all of his goals because he fights for himself and all of his people. Penta says he respects Reigns as a wrestler but when he wins this tournament he will show Reigns exactly who he is.

Here’s Los Perros del Mal being lead out by Karmen Petrovic. Los Perros surround Penta and Daga has a mic. Penta and Daga embrace and then Penta hugs it out with Los Garza. Daga mentions it’s been seven or eight years since they’ve shared a ring. Daga says that Penta joined his side in a previous incarnation of Los Perros and they dominated. That group split up and everyone went their separate ways but Daga is happy to be back in a ring with Penta. Daga wants to make sure that everything is cool with him and Penta and reminds Penta that he said he doesn’t need a family. Daga says now more than ever Penta needs a family and to get to Reigns he needs THIS family. Daga tells Penta that if he goes alone into that war he will walk out without the title but if they do things together things will be different. Daga claims it’s about Mexico versus “them” and Reigns doesn’t respect people, he respects power. Daga says power is in the numbers and offers Penta a t-shirt to join the group. Daga says this is an invitation for Penta to return home to his family. Penta takes the t-shirt and holds it to his forehead in respect before telling Daga that he will think about it. Penta goes to leave and Daga says he has until the end of the night to make a decision. JBL seems to think that was more of a threat than it sounded, and Penta goes up the ramp with the shirt.

WWE Men’s World Championship Number One Contender’s Tournament First Round Match: La Parka vs Psycho Clown

The winner of this match will face Penta in the next round. Psycho drives Parka to a corner and then trucks Parka down. There’s an armdrag exchange to a standoff. Parka does a bit of dancing and then gets blasted by a forearm and a kick from Psycho. Psycho nails Parka with a snap powerslam for two. Psycho is selling previously injured ribs and runs right into a Parka backbreaker. Psycho hits a lofted headbutt but runs right into a Parka exploder. Parka ascends for a moonsault and then runs Psycho back in. Psycho hits some back elbows and snaps Parka over with a sunset flip for two.

Psycho wades in again and blasts Parka with a kick before dumping him to the floor. Psycho runs the length of the apron for a tope suicida and then runs Parka back in. Psycho ascends and Parka leaps up to crush him with a Spanish Fly. Parka crawls over and covers for two. Parka hits a moonsault from the second rope and then ascends to the top to meet Psycho’s feet. Psycho fires off a Mexican Destroyer and gets two. Psycho rises up with a lariat and hauls Parka up for a forearm shot. Parka fires up with a reverse thrust and Psycho decides to yank a turnbuckle pad off. Parka hits a rolling cutter and can’t make a cover as the ref attempts to put the turnbuckle pad back on. While the ref ignores the competitors to re-attach the turnbuckle pad Psycho nails Parka with a superkick before accidentally running Parka square into the referee’s back. Psycho yanks Parka up for the Psycho Driver but obviously there’s no ref to count the cover. Psycho tears off his top mask and the lights go out.

Here’s Unnamed Giant Cajun Monster looming behind Psycho. Monster just destroys Psycho and blasts him with a high boot to the head before rolling him back in. Parka climbs back in and heaves Psycho over with the Bonebreaker to finish things.

So the Clowns saga with whatever this new person will be called continues on. This was a fine way to do that and get La Parka through to the next round without Psycho’s high placement on the card being called into question. These two have good chemistry and the match was solid until the overbooked finish. No major complaints, though. 3.25*

Winner – La Parka

Parka tries to revive Psycho after the match and then calls for Medical. Psycho limps towards the apron and collapses down to the floor where he’s helped by two medicos to the back.

Here’s Penta in a locker room with Los Perros entering for an answer. Penta tells Daga that the shirt will always represent his history and he respects the group except for Bronco Nima. Penta wants Nima to show him that he’s worthy of the shirt and Nima promises to beat Penta and when he does, Penta will have to respect him and join the group. Penta says bet, and it is on for next week. The credits roll as Los Perros discuss this development.

A good start to the Torreon show tonight, and we’ll see what happens from here. If you see spoilers, please do not discuss them in the comments. Overall, the two matches were decent, we had a terrific brawl to start followed by a solid promo from EGA, and the big Penta-Los Perros angle to dominate the show. Once again this is the most fun and easy to digest hour of wrestling every week.

Enjoy your Sunday!
