Your hosts are Vince McMahon, Randy Savsge & Roddy Piper
I should note that Brother Love was fired a week before this show, perhaps for suggesting Sheik Tugboat.
The Legion of Doom v. WT Jones & Warren Bianchi
Hawk hits WT with a gut wrench and chops him down while we get an inset from the Nasty Boys. And apparently the LOD are JERKS. Harsh words. I mean, certainly Hawk was. Animal dropkicks Bianchi and beats him down with forearms, and Hawk comes in with a press slam, setting up the corner clothesline and Doomsday Device to finish at 2:15.
UPDATE! WITH MEAN GENE OKERLUND!
Let’s take another look at the Mountie handcuffing the Bossman and brutally electrocuting him with the shock stick. No wonder Montreal was still booing him at the AEW PPV.
Ted Dibiase v. Randy Fox
Piper needling Savage about his previous relationship with Sherri is why they were such a great combo on commentary. Dibiase puts Fox down with a back elbow and follows with a snap suplex and clothesline. Fox is a wonderfully wiry jobber who makes all of these look devastating, not sure why he didn’t get more work around this time. We get an inset from Virgill who flips an obviously rigged coin and declares “Heads you lose, tails you lose”. Who would possibly want to take that bet? Dibiase finishes with the Million Dollar Dream at 2:00.
Meanwhile, we get an over the top Vince commercial for the WBF Championship on June 15, living up to the meme.
The Texas Tornado v. The Brooklyn Brawler
Tornado gets a slam and hits the tornado punch to finish at 1:30, most of which was Tornado wandering around the ring and posing. Like it was literally two moves for the entire match.
Earthquake v. Kevin Kruger
But first! Jimmy Hart asks Mean Gene to join us at ringside to be an official witness to the most spectacular announcement ever to be made in the WWF. Which he will make after “Quake finishes squashing this guy”. Really building it up, I see. Quake puts him down with an elbow and beats on him with forearms while we get an inset from Quake promising to sit on any further snakes that are brought down to ringside. Quake with the powerslam and he drops an elbow and finishes with the butt splash at 1:40.
Afterwards, Jimmy makes his big announcement: Earthquake’s new partner is ANDRE THE GIANT! Huge if true. Mean Gene calls him a liar immediately and brings out Andre, and Andre certainly seems chummy with Jimmy. So as promised, Andre shakes Quake’s hand to seal the deal, but Gene keeps pressing the issue while we recap Andre rejecting the other managers via video montage. And Andre reveals that the answer is actually NO, and there’s no deal with Jimmy Hart. But Quake grabs the megaphone and takes out Andre’s knee, hitting it with splashes and sending him into retirement. Well maybe Andre should have said yes.
The Orient Express v. Dave Sigfritts & John Anderson
Kato beats on Anderson with chops as Vince hypes up the impending move of Primetime Wrestling to Monday nights. Like a wrestling show would ever work on a Monday night. Tanaka comes in and SWEEPS THE LEG on Sigfritts. The Express with the leapfrog choke on the ropes and Kato superkicks him into a Tanaka german suplex to finish at 1:54.
Meanwhile, we hear from Mike Christian, who tells about how the WBF Championship is going to be a BATTLE and a WAR. It’s literally oily guys posing on a stage.
The Undertaker v. Dan Robins
Tombstone finishes at 1:30, and the jobber goes out in the bodybag gimmick. Corpse Jones over here. But I digress. Also the replay shows that Taker BOUNCED that poor fucker’s head off the mat with the tombstone, in exactly the way that Hulk Hogan whined about for years afterwards, even though it didn’t happen to him.
NEXT WEEK: The Dragon! The Berzerker! Virgil! IRS! Big Bossman! Sgt. Slaughter!
A pretty big angle this week as we begin the build to Summerslam!
