Although the moves that can be done in the match are limited, the participants throw enough bombs to keep things interesting. Mabel is the one who ends up in peril when Yokozuna holds his foot when he runs the ropes. Unfortunately, Crush slows the good flow to the match with a long headscissors. Typhoon gets the hot tag after Crush misses a flying knee drop and all hell soon breaks loose in the ring. As the referee ushers Mabel out, Crush superkicks Typhoon in the back of the head and Yokozuna hits a belly-to-belly suplex for the pin. Rating: *¾

The Kid seeks revenge from Jarrett’s post-match attack at The King of the Ring. The pacing is more deliberate than their pay-per-view clash, which foreshadows a weak finish. Jarrett dominates and works the Kid’s back until the Kid misses a body press off the ropes and ends up on the arena floor. Afterward, Jarrett and the Kid fight until they are counted out. Rating: *½

Jarrett ambushes the Kid in the ring after the bull and piledrives him several times, repeating The King of the Ring attack. WWF officials eventually intercede. As the Kid is helped to the locker room, Jarrett calls the Kid a coward and demands the match be restarted. Officials prevent the Kid from responding.

Opening Contest for the Intercontinental Championship: Diesel (Champion w/Shawn Michaels) (17-0) wrestles Lex Luger (19-2) to a double disqualification at 14:03 shown:

Despite Tatanka’s allegations, Luger does not come to the ring with Ted DiBiase. Diesel overwhelms Luger with his power and dominates the first two-thirds of the match. Before the first commercial break, the camera spots DiBiase peering from the rafters, although it is tough to see him through all the laser-induced smoke. After fighting out of a long sleeper hold, Luger begins his comeback. The crowd gets excited for near-falls from a DDT and flying clothesline off the second rope. Referee Joey Marella gets bumped when Luger accidentally whips Diesel into him. Luger impresses by racking Diesel but there is no referee and Michaels superkicks Luger in the back of the head. Luger kicks out at two when Marella recovers. As Luger and Diesel trade blows, Razor Ramon comes out to chase Michaels around the ring. That pursuit leads to both men getting into the ring and the bell sounds for a double disqualification. Luger’s moves worked well against an imposing opponent like Diesel. He just sold too much. Rating: **½

After the bell, the fight continues, leaving Ramon as the victim of a two-on-one assault at the hands of Diesel and Michaels. Luger stops a spike piledriver but it is an open question of whether that was beneficial as Michaels carelessly dumps Ramon on his head when Luger hits him. So the Razor Ramon-Diesel feud has been reignited. Meanwhile, DiBiase is shown in the entrance way shaking his head.

Opening Contest: Mabel (9-1) pins Tony DeVito after a leg drop at 1:14:

Mabel does Oscar’s rap on the way to the ring and does just as good of a job. Lane dances in the aisle as Mabel makes his entrance and Mabel hilariously ignores him. Since it is late in the taping there is a thick layer of smoke around the ring and several seats facing the hard camera are empty. Short matches are the best way to protect Mabel but if he cannot do longer bouts then it does not make much sense to push him as a single.

Opening Contest: Typhoon (3-0) beats Yokozuna (w/Jim Cornette & Mr. Fuji) (11-3) via disqualification when Crush interferes at 3:50:

Yokozuna beat Typhoon in quick fashion on television the previous year in the run up to WrestleMania IX. Yokozuna botches falling out of the ring after some Typhoon strikes and Typhoon lets the big man lay on the canvas before he decides to roll to the floor for a breather. Typhoon tries to pin Yokozuna after a clothesline and elbow drop but the former WWF champion kicks out of both. Typhoon goes for the Tidal Wave but Crush comes to ringside and trips him in front of referee Joey Marella, producing a disqualification. That is a surprising finish because Yokozuna was beating Typhoon around the house show circuit. It appears that program will run a while longer. Rating: ½*

After the bell, Typhoon fights Yokozuna and Crush but runs into a Yokozuna belly-to-belly suplex. The heels take turns leg dropping Typhoon before the show cuts to Live Event News.

A video package hypes tonight’s WWF title match between Bret Hart and the 1-2-3 Kid.

Opening Contest: Jeff Jarrett (19-5) defeats Rich Myers via submission to the figure-four leglock at 3:33:

DiBiase is confident that he will have his Undertaker at SummerSlam and that Paul Bearer will show up alone. Myers gives Jarrett all he can handle by scoring a few near-falls with roll ups and hitting Jarrett with an elbow off the ropes. However, Jarrett catches him late with a kneebreaker and prevails with the figure-four leglock. The win ends a two-match losing streak for the aspiring country music star.

Opening Contest: The Fake Undertaker (w/Ted DiBiase) (3-0) pins Tatanka (21-2-2) after the Tombstone at 6:21:

DiBiase’s Undertaker squashes the Native American star, choking him down and shrugging off chops and kicks. The imposter stops Tatanka’s warpath comeback with a thrust to the neck and wins after the Tombstone. Referee Earl Hebner does a slow count to rub salt in Tatanka’s wounds as he suffers his worst loss to date. DiBiase prevents the Undertaker from doing additional damage to Tatanka by showing him a lot of money. Rating: ½*

Opening Contest: Tatanka (20-2-2) pins Jeff Jarrett (19-4) with a schoolboy roll up at 12:26 shown:

Tatanka beat Jarrett in February on Wrestling Challenge after Ludvig Borga interfered in what proved to be Borga’s last WWF appearance. After Tatanka works a long headlock he gets knocked to the floor. He seems to spend forever out there until Jarrett whips him into the ring post and wins by count out. But Jarrett is not happy about that, ordering the match be restarted. Referee Earl Hebner agrees without consulting Tatanka, who rejoins the action during a commercial break. Rest holds absorb the action until the last five minutes when Tatanka goes on the warpath after escaping a chinlock. Jarrett gets his foot on the rope to break up a pin from a flying chop and tries to run away. However, Dink is in the aisle and squirts Jarrett with water. When Jarrett tries to apprehend the little man, Doink the Clown chases him back into the ring with a big bucket of water. And all the craziness distracts Jarrett, who is rolled up by Tatanka and pinned. Some of the extra booking helped raise the rating of the match. Rating: **

DiBiase uses the squash to talk about how much he wants to sign Luger. Lane says that Luger is still after Crush for costing him a spot in the King of the Ring Tournament. Like the end of Superstars, Luger poses in the ring after the match.

Opening Contest: Irwin R. Schyster (19-3) beats Doink the Clown (w/Dink) (20-1) with a small package at 4:47:

Lawler, who has been the only constant in the Superstars announce booth in recent weeks, jokes that Ross should not get too comfortable in his chair as no one knows who might be calling matches next week. IRS just goes with a generic rant against people not paying taxes, avoiding any circus lingo. Lawler makes another good point about how Doink needs to pay a gift tax on Dink since he was a gift from Santa last year. IRS chooses to use a lot of rest holds so Doink carries the offensive load. When IRS tries to use the briefcase as a weapon late in the contest, Dink grabs it. IRS catches up to him but Doink prevents any punishment from affecting his friend. As Dink fiddles with the briefcase underneath the ring, IRS kicks out of a belly-to-belly suplex and then surprises Doink with a small package for the win. Rating: *½

IRS thinks something is amiss with his briefcase after Dink slides it back in the ring after the match is over. When IRS opens it, a fireball shoots out of it and the clowns dance in the aisle.

Gorilla Monsoon announces that Jerry Lawler is in trouble because of his attack on Duke Droese last week. He says that Lawler’s punishment will be revealed later tonight. Droese says he is prepared to get his own revenge on Lawler. Lawler, no longer wearing sunglasses, fires back that he had to spend a fortune to get his robe cleaned. The King asks WWF officials for a fine so he does not have to apologize. He eventually gives in and apologizes for the attack.

Opening Contest: Mabel (w/Oscar) (7-1) defeats Bam Bam Bigelow (w/Luna Vachon) (20-3) via count out at 3:29:

For a super heavyweight clash this has some decent action, although nothing extraordinary. The MVP of the match is Vachon, who hops on the apron to prevent Mabel from pinning Bigelow after a leg drop but stays there too long, flying into the guardrail when Bigelow whips Mabel into the ropes. Bigelow shoves Oscar when he checks on Vachon’s condition and gets counted out when he takes too long tending to his love interest. Rating: ¾*

After the match, Bigelow rolls into the ring and grabs the referee. Vachon keeps him from hitting the official, who quickly runs away. As Vachon tries to make Bigelow feel better, Ted DiBiase walks into the ring. He chats with them as the camera cuts away to recap DiBiase’s purchase of “the Undertaker’s” services.

All American Wrestling had its last feature match, which was filmed on June 26 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Stan Lane and Ted DiBiase commentated.

Kwang (w/Harvey Wippleman) (12-4-1) pins Jim Powers after a spinning heel kick at 3:27:

Powers is booked on an even plane with Kwang, clotheslining his opponent over the top rope and scoring near-falls from a knee lift, small package, and backslide. Powers does a leapfrog after that but turns around too slowly and when he does, Kwang blasts him with a spinning heel kick for the pin. If Kwang had enough moves to answer in kind this would have turned into a fun encounter. Rating: *½

Opening Contest: Typhoon (1-0) pins Pierre (w/Johnny Polo) (0-1) after the Tidal Wave at 5:50:

Monsoon talks about how Typhoon will face Earthquake on house shows as part of the WWF’s Summer Sizzler Tour. The match is bad as Typhoon is not as good of a big man worker as Earthquake. Pierre only does a missile dropkick as his only non-choking move and there is a botched spot where Pierre slips out of the corner before Typhoon avalanches him from the back but then sells it anyway. This would be Pierre’s last televised match. He would have a house show feud in Montreal with former tag team partner Jacques and do house shows through the fall before returning in 1995 with a new gimmick. Polo would be transitioned into a backstage producer after being replaced by Ted DiBiase on All American Wrestling. He would leave in October and head to ECW where he would develop a new character called Raven. Rating: ¼*

Opening Non-Title Contest: Diesel (Intercontinental Champion w/Shawn Michaels) (14-0) beats Mark Thomas after the Jackknife at 3:59:

There is a discussion of last night’s King of the Ring WWF title match and Jim Neidhart’s return. Thomas takes a good bump from Snake Eyes after Diesel launches him into the corner. A methodical squash keeps Diesel rolling.

Gorilla Monsoon, Randy Savage, and Art Donovan are calling tonight’s action, live from Baltimore, Maryland. According to thehistoryofwwe.com, a sellout crowd of 12,000 fans attended the show. This is Monsoon’s first pay-per-view doing lead play-by-play since last year’s Royal Rumble. He is substituting for Vince McMahon, who underwent neck surgery on June 13 for a herniated disc. In terms of pay-per-view buys, the show had a 0.85 buyrate (185,000 buys). That was a 25% drop from the previous year’s show, which drew a 1.1 buyrate (245,000 buys).

Rickey Medlocke, frontman of the Southern rock band Blackfoot, sings the national anthem. This was a last-minute deal as Medlocke volunteered to sing the anthem before his concert across the street.

There is a better set than last year’s show, with the throne set up near the entrance and red carpet going down the steps leading up to it. There are also attendants in gold uniforms that open the entrance doors for the wrestlers.

Opening Contest: Jeff Jarrett (18-3) beats Gary Sabaugh via submission to the figure-four leglock at 2:48:

The 1-2-3 Kid tells Jarrett that it is time to put up or shut up at The King of the Ring. Jarrett has a few nerdy fans in the front row. That will not get him a music contract but it provides some encouragement for him as he whips Sabaugh’s knee into the ring post and submits him with a figure-four.
