What the World Was Watching: WWF Superstars – 12.10.94

By LScisco on 8 April 2026

Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler call today’s action, concluding a long taping in Bushkill, Pennsylvania

Jeff Jarrett appears on the video wall from Las Vegas, saying that everyone is rolling out the red carpet out for him unlike the music producers in Nashville, Tennessee.

Opening Non-Title Contest: Razor Ramon (Intercontinental Champion) (34-4-1) pins Chris Hamrick after the Razor’s Edge at 3:06:

Ramon tells McMahon and Lawler on his way to the ring that if Jarrett wants him then he can bring it instead of singing it. So that finally starts setting in motion an opponent for Razor’s title. Ramon dominates the smaller Hamrick, doing his typical set of chops, a fallaway slam, some stretching, a super backdrop suplex, and the Razor’s Edge.

McMahon releases the bracketing for the WWF Tag Team Championship Tournament that will take place exclusively on Superstars:

Bam Bam Bigelow & Tatanka vs. Men on a Mission

The New Headshrinkers vs. Owen Hart & Jim Neidhart

The Heavenly Bodies vs. The Bushwhackers

The Smoking Gunns vs. Well Dunn

The Smoking Gunns (23-2-1) beat Ray Hudson & the Black Phantom when Billy pins Hudson after the Sidewinder at 3:00:

What stands out about the bracketing of the tournament is how much weaker the bottom half is than the top half. The Phantom’s new thing is to scream a lot at random moments of the match. It seems to work out okay as he DDTs Billy after getting whipped into the corner. Hudson cannot sustain the team’s momentum, though, and he is finished off with the Sidewinder.

Owen Hart (41-4) beats Chris Kanyon via submission to the Sharpshooter at 3:05:

If Owen and Neidhart were more of a permanent team they would have a better shot at winning the tournament. However, since they seem to be diverging back onto singles paths they are merely filler for the brackets. Owen is in a race with Jeff Jarrett to see who can make the most appearances on television this year as this match ties them at 47 each. The squash is disappointing for those who think it could end up as a hidden gem as they trade wristlocks and Owen chokes until Kanyon blocks a take to the buckle. He misses the moonsault in yet another match, enabling Owen to coast to victory with a missile dropkick and the Sharpshooter.

Another Hakushi vignette sees Japanese writing in the clouds and the outline of a man in a Japanese kasa hat. At least there is more mystery for this gimmick than what Kwang got last year.

Aldo Montoya (3-0) pins Ben Jordan after a reverse flying bulldog off the second rope at 3:31:

Montoya is not booked as a dominant babyface as Jordan gets in a cheap shot over the referee and slowly pounds and chokes away. Montoya small packages him for two, does a token babyface comeback, and notches a less than stellar win with a reverse flying bulldog off the second rope.

In a new vignette, Henry Godwinn shows off a slop bucket. He says fans should not be disgusted by slop because they eat worse every day.

The new WWF Magazine has King Kong Bundy dressed as Santa and pulling Jameson by the hair out of a red bag. Inside there is a story about Bret Hart, who McMahon says readers have voted as their “People’s Choice Selection,” whatever that means.

Tatanka (w/Ted DiBiase) (35-4-2) beats Mike Khoury after the End of the Trail at 3:05:

Tatanka has an errant blind charge at the beginning, which allows Khoury to schoolboy him for two. Khoury fires away but puts his head down too early on an Irish whip and Tatanka dominates the rest of the way. McMahon and Lawler quickly lose interest in the match and make comparisons between Henry Godwinn and President Bill Clinton.

The New Headshrinkers, dressed in tuxedoes, try “Left Guard” deodorant as Lord Alfred Hayes narrates. After smelling it, they eat it. Soon, Afa and Captain Lou Albano join and eat it too.

Doink the Clown (w/Dink) (33-3) defeats Curtis Harrison after the Whoopie Cushion at 2:08:

Doink takes Harrison to the mat and Dink messes with the enhancement talent in plain view of the referee. Doink redoes a body slam after a first one looks sloppy and then does the Whoopie Cushion to build to a Monday Night RAW match with Bob Backlund.

Tune in next week to see Men on a Mission face Tatanka & Bam Bam Bigelow in the first match of the WWF Tag Team Championship Tournament! Also, Adam Bomb, Irwin R. Schysters, and the British Bulldog will be in action! Henry Godwinn will make his debut! And Jeff Jarrett will be a guest on the Heartbreak Hotel!

The Last Word: This was a boring episode but fans did get brackets of the Tag Team tournament. Judging by the brackets, whoever wins next week’s match has a good chance of making the finals and the Smoking Gunns would be a favorite to make it out of the bottom half. The good news for fans is that the tournament will provide feature matches for the next six weeks. For some reason the Bob Backlund appearance on the Heartbreak Hotel was not televised.
