What the World Was Watching: WWF Superstars – 11.19.94

Opening Contest: The Undertaker (w/Paul Bearer) (7-1) defeats Jim Neidhart (w/Owen Hart) (17-1) via count out at 6:03:

Neidhart refuses to get in the ring for the first minute of the match. When Neidhart does engage, the Undertaker shrugs off all of his offense until Neidhart delivers the Anvil Flattener. Neidhart does not cover after that, preferring to choke. Referee Tim White counts a fall during that, which is odd. Bearer leaves ringside for undisclosed reasons, causing the Undertaker to weaken. He returns with a large casket and opens it, providing product placement for Survivor Series. The Undertaker boots Neidhart into the casket, causing Neidhart to freak out and get counted out. That is a terrible finish to what turned into an okay match once it got going. Was it necessary to continue to protect Neidhart after his house show run with Bret Hart was over? Rating: *½

Irwin R. Schyster recaps what he has done with John Dough, calling his segments “IRS’ Tales from the Crypt.” He announces that he is repossessing Dough’s burial plot. To emphasize this, he drives into the ground a sign that says “Property of IRS.”

Adam Bomb (18-6) pins Reno Riggins after the pumphandle slam at 2:22:

Riggins gets some token offense, mostly chokes on the ropes. Bomb is able to shrug it off, deliver a back suplex, flying clothesline, and pumphandle slam, notching a twelfth-straight singles win.

Jeff Jarrett gets ready in front of a bathroom mirror for today’s show.

Jeff Jarrett (35-6-1) defeats Mike Bell via submission to the figure-four leglock at 2:44:

Jarrett is generous with another enhancement talent today, giving Bell several comebacks. Bell avoids a blind charge but puts his head down too early after an Irish whip and Jarrett throws his head into the canvas. Bell comes back with two body slams but a second rope leg drop misses and Jarrett works the leg to set up a figure-four finish.

It is announced that the British Bulldog will battle Bam Bam Bigelow on next week’s episode.

Todd Pettengill does the Survivor Series Report. The Heavenly Bodies, Tatanka, and Diesel are confident that Chuck Norris cannot stop them from coming to ringside during the Undertaker-Yokozuna casket match.

Non-Title Match: Razor Ramon (Intercontinental Champion) (32-4) pins Nick Barberry after the Razor’s Edge at 3:01:

The Intercontinental title scene has been dead since SummerSlam. There is not much conversation about it as Ramon works his predictable, albeit boring squash formula of toying with Barberry until the super backdrop suplex-Razor’s Edge finish.

WWF Champion Bret Hart and the British Bulldog are guests of the Heartbreak Hotel. Before Bret can respond to any questions, Bob Backlund and Owen Hart crash the segment. Owen repeats how he is not going to throw in the towel at Survivor Series. Backlund, who does not like Owen touching him, says that he is happy to have Owen’s assurance. Addressing the camera more than Bret, he assures the champion that the pain of the crossface chicken wing will spread through his body like cancer. All Bret can say in response is that he is fighting for every young kid who believes in him. Again, this is framed as an old generation vs. new generation fight but the WWF could have done more to present it as a serious battle for the title between two great athletes.

King Kong Bundy (w/Ted DiBiase) (7-0) pins Ben Jordan after the Avalanche in 59 seconds:

Mike Healy, a big man in a terrible Undertaker t-shirt, is the guest ring announcer. He breaks a streak of people who sound like they love what they are doing. Jordan is quickly destroyed by Bundy, who continues to be presented as a force of nature since he is getting WWF title shots at house shows.

Live Event News shows footage of Luna Vachon’s wedding in Miami, Florida. It has ECW-like production values and features the first WWF appearance of David Heath without a mask. Some fans must have found this confusing since it was not that long ago that Vachon and Bam Bam Bigelow split up.

McMahon and Lawler are backstage near the casket that will be at Survivor Series. McMahon chides Lawler for not wanting to touch it.

The Last Word: The Heartbreak Hotel segment was just a rehash of what happened on the King’s Court on Monday Night RAW. The build for other parts of Survivor Series was weak, focusing more on what the casket would look like.
