So last week ECW decided to put the World Title on a certain fellow known as Justin Credible. Yeah, as you can guess that was a tad controversial back at the time and is still roundly criticised to this day. Still though, let’s see if Justin can present himself as a credible (pun partially intended) Champion going forward. I mean, his first feud is likely going to be Tommy Dreamer, so it might take a while like, but we could get there eventually…maybe…

Cyber Slam 2000 happened the previous week, so tonight we’ve got some matches from that and we will also learn how the ECW World Title situation will resolve itself. That particular situation ended up being pretty infamous amongst the ECW fan base due to how it all ends up.

So last week all heck broke loose due to ECW Champ Mike Awesome deciding to jump to WCW. ECW managed to get him back for one last show, where they had him drop the belt to WWF wrestler Taz, who then promptly got jobbed out to Triple H on Smackdown. However, Taz isn’t a regular roster member, so the Title picture is still in a case of flux with Cyber Slam 2000 looming on the horizon.

So last week ECW looked to start a Main Event feud between ECW Champ Mike Awesome and Tommy Dreamer, whilst The Impact Players were set to feud with Nova and Chris Chetti. However, things have taken a bit of a wild turn, which we’ll get into today.

If you’re in isolation at the moment, then hopefully this here review of Hardcore TV will distract you. Last week was a fun show with some decent wrestling, so let’s see if ECW can keep the momentum going.

Last week we had the rare ECW non-finish, all done with the idea of strengthening Mike Awesome and Raven as a heel tandem. As a result, they’re getting a shot at the Tag Titles this week, although I can’t help but shake the feeling that eventually they are going to be enemies once all is said and done.

Last week we looked at Living Dangerously 2000 (Review HERE) and it was a pretty underwhelming event that at least left us with a brand new ECW TV Champ in the form of Super Crazy. Crazy needed perhaps a bit too much help from Rob Van Dam to achieve it, but it’s still a major Title for someone new near the top of the card, so that’s something.

Normally these post pay per view editions of the show tend to be more about recaps instead of anything new, but hopefully there’s something worth watching on it.

To say the past month or so of these reviews has been a tumultuous time for ECW would perhaps be somewhat of an understatement, with a costly leg injury to Rob Van Dam causing him to have to vacate his ECW TV Title and essentially blow the Main Event scene to pieces.

With the TV Title now vacated, we will crown a new Champion tonight in a 4 man tournament, as Super Crazy takes on Little Guido and Rhino has a long awaited singles battle with The Sandman. Sadly the Quarter Finals all got crammed in to one episode of Hardcore TV (The last one I did in fact) so the matches have all been chopped to pieces to fit the allotted time. Hopefully the matches tonight at least get some time to breathe.

ECW World Champ Mike Awesome doesn’t even have a Title defence tonight, as he will instead be defending one half of his newly won Tag Team Titles with Raven against two teams in a Three Way Dance. As a result, there isn’t really a clear marquee Main Event for this show, which combined with the general way the card has been thrown together means that I am probably less hyped for this show than any I have covered since starting these reviews last year.

I actually do own the DVD version of this show from Laser Light Digital, but I couldn’t find it so I’m going to be stuck with the WWE Network version, which means there’ll be music dubbing galore. Oh well, let’s just hope some of the dubbed music is good eh?

Anyway, that’s enough of wittering from me, let’s watch some chuffing wrestling!

Last week’s show featured Tommy Dreamer and Masato Tanaka winning the ECW Tag Titles, but since then a shedload of other stuff has happened and this week ECW has to cram as much into the show as they can in order to try and sell the Living Dangerously pay per view. It seems like they won’t have enough time to do it justice, but maybe they’ll surprise us?

Last week’s show was pretty missable, as have most of them been for the past month or so, with Hardcore TV being very much the secondary show now to TNN, especially as they’ve started doing the big Network Vs ECW feud. Still, there’s at least something notable happening on this show today, so we can all look forward to that.

Last week’s show was a shedload of filler, with little in the way of new material and most of the show being made up of clips from the TNN show. Sadly this week’s show looks similar, but there are at least two fresh matches for us to enjoy. Hopefully they’re good.

Last week’s show brought the goods match quality wise thanks to an excellent Tajiri Vs Super Crazy bout, but we’re still kind of short of big matches for the upcoming Living Dangerously pay per view in March. Hopefully we’ll finally start to see that show taking shape, although ECW do have somewhat of an excuse due to Rob Van Dam’s injury throwing everything into disarray.

Last week’s show was heavily affected by the news that ECW TV Champ Rob Van Dam had broken his leg. We should probably be getting further updates on that this week. The injury is bad news for ECW, as they were hoping that a feud between Rob Van Dam and Mike Awesome would be a key area of promotion for them in the coming months. Here’s hoping that they can recover somehow and get the show back on track.

Last week was more a holdover show, where all the moving parts were kept whirring ahead of the next major storyline development. Things are going to chance a lot for ECW during this episode in fact, and sadly it’s not for the better

The highlight of the show was last week was a face off between ECW World Champ Mike Awesome and ECW TV Champ Rob Van Dam, setting up a possible Title For Title collision between the two for later down the line.

In addition, Sabu returned to ECW, only to help Awesome leave RVD and Bill Alphonso laid out. He will be in action this week against CW Anderson.

Last week’s show wasn’t that bad, as we actually got some fresh matches from the TV taping in Atlanta and, because it was shot at Centre Stage, the show actually looked quite good from a production standpoint as well.

With Guilty As Charged now behind us, we should start seeing what direction ECW wants to go in with March’s Living Dangerously pay per view looming in the distance.

Guilty As Charged 2000 is now in the bag and you can read my review of it by clicking right HERE.

In short, there were a few decent matches on the undercard and the main event of Mike Awesome Vs Little Spike Dudley was really good and well worth watching.

Normally with these post pay per view Hardcore TV’s they tend to just talk about the prior week’s event and don’t really give much in the way of new content, but maybe they’ll surprise us?

I wrote this up about a year ago as I didn’t plan I’d ever get this far in these ECW reviews. I’ve gone in and tightened some stuff up and added any additional bits I felt were necessary.

ECW made a big fuss in the build-up about how this was the first pay per view event of the new millennium, but it won’t mean much if the show itself isn’t any good.

Last week’s Hardcore TV had a fantastic main event of Mike Awesome Vs Masato Tanaka followed by a strong angle where Awesome brutally clocked Spike Dudley’s girlfriend with a lariat, thus causing her to bleed from the mouth.

With Guilty As Charged 2000 one night away, I expect we’ll be seeing a lot of last minute hype for the show. I’ve actually reviewed that show for the Blog before, so I’ll give it a once over and post it up tomorrow.
