Happy Extreme Friday Everyone!

We’ve got some more 1995 ECW for you today as we take a look at Gangstas Paradise. We’ve got Raven and Stevie Richards defending the tag belts against The Pitbulls, along with Rey Mysterio Jr taking on Psicosis in some Extreme Lucha Libre. That alone should be good, but we’ve also got a ruddy big six man tag cage match to finish things off as well. Wow ambassador, you are really spoiling us!

I decided to review ECW Hardcore Heaven 1995 as I’ve never reviewed it before and someone requested it over on F&C, so this felt like as good a time as any to give it a look. We’ve got more of the Raven Vs Tommy Dreamer feud, whilst Sandman battles Cactus Jack and The Public Enemy go to war with Da Gangsta’s.

We’ve got some more ECW for you today with House Party 1999. The big story on this one is that The Public Enemy are returning to ECW following a stint in WCW, with The Dudley Boyz calling them out. Elsewhere, Taz is the new ECW World Champion after winning it at Guilty As Charged and has challengers to deal with.

We’ve got some more classic ECW for you today, courtesy of that fine purveyor F+C, with Big Apple Blizzard Blast.

I’ve never actually seen this show before and decided to watch it mainly because we’ve got Juventud Guerrera battling Rey Misterio Jr. We’ve also got Heel Cactus Jack, more of the Raven Vs Dreamer feud, the early days of Taz’s Path of Rage, and an appearance from Sabu. Pretty loaded for a 1996 ECW show I think we can all agree.

Sadly the main match I wanted to see; Rob Van Dam Vs Chris Jericho, has been omitted from the tape, which is a shame as I would have liked to have seen it. I can only assume that ECW was saving it for something else or the match was a bit of a mess and we never got to see it for that reason.

We have ECW It Ain’t Seinfeld today, named as such because the show was taking place during the Seinfeld finale. I must confess that I haven’t really watched Seinfeld before, but it’s nice to know why the show has the name it does because it would always confuse me whenever I’d see it on the shelf at HMV back in the day.

We’ve got The Dudley Family taking on Tommy Dreamer and his extreme friends in the Main Event here, in what would be a bit of a dress rehearsal for the Main Event of Heat Wave 1998. Elsewhere we’ve got Rob Van Dam Vs Mikey Whipwreck and Justin Credible Vs Jerry Lynn, with the latter likely to be good because it usually is when those two go at it.

We’re still in December 2024 when I’m writing this, so the WWE Network hasn’t melted away to nothingness yet and I can still review some ECW. So with that said, let’s review Enter The Sandman, and event from May 1995 where Sandman wrestles not once, but twice! If James Fullington isn’t one of your favourite grapplers then I suggest looking away now whilst you can!

We’ve got Shane Douglas taking on The Sandman, Raven facing off with Tommy Dreamer, and one of the many battles between Dean Malenko and Eddy Guerrero. I don’t see how a show with all of that on it could be bad, so let’s see just how hostile this showdown truly is!

Last week I chose ECW for the Stinker Review, so let’s redress the balance by taking a look at a much more highly regarded show in the company’s history in the form of the Malenko/Guerrero Classic. As the name would suggest, the show is built around Dean Malenko and Eddy Guerrero wrestling one another, as they face-off in ECW for the last time before moving on to pastures new in WCW.

A couple of weeks back I reviewed WCW’s last pay per view, so I decided to “complete the set” as it were when it came to promotions that died in early 2001, by watching a fan cam recording of ECW’s final ever show. This event was a sold show in Pine Bluff, and going in it wasn’t promoted as the official last ECW show, but the roster could pretty much see the writing on the wall and did a curtain call to close the show and say goodbye to the fans that showed up.

I expect this to be a bit of sad event to watch in some ways, with the original ECW going out with a whimper instead of a bang. However, looking at the card there might still be some enjoyable wrestling to watch until the lights go out on ECW for the last time. Happy Funking Saturday Everyone!

Back to some ECW today, as we watch a show from 1995 called Return of the Funker. As the name suggests, this show features the return of Terry Funk to ECW, along with other stuff as well. Some of the matches from this actually made their way to the Philly Stake DVD that came out following the closure of the company.

1995 was usually a good year for ECW when it came to storyline’s, along with some good wrestling too on certain shows. Let’s see what Return of the Funker will give us in regard to those two areas. You can view the card for the event by clicking the link below;

Today we’ve got some ECW for you, as I found fan cam footage of this show from January 2000 and decided to give it a review.

We’ve got Mike Awesome, Masato Tanaka, Tommy Dreamer and Sabu all in action, which is a decent amount of top guys for ECW at the time.

I’m quite nostalgic for this period of ECW, even though the company was near death due to the TNN TV deal not working out and stars like The Dudley Boyz and Taz jumping over to the WWF. There should hopefully be a few enjoyable matches on this one.

We’ve got another ECW show this week, as I’ve only ever seen the Main Event for House Party 1998 previously, but I was intrigued to see the rest of the show as some of the matches on the card sound like they might be fun.

Our Main Event is Sandman and Sabu trying to do better than their horrid match at November to Remember 1997 when they battle in a Stairway to Hell match. On the under card we’ve got Gran Hamada, Gran Naniwa and The Great Sasuke coming over from Japan, so the show should have an international flavour to it.

I’ve never watched CyberSlam 1997 before, but it’s on WWE Network/Peacock, so I decided to give it a viewing seeing as it takes place in that interesting period between Mass Transit and Barley Legal, where the whole company was based around the desperate pursuit of making it onto pay per view in the hope that it would finally allow them to kick on.

I’ve never watched this show and it’s on the WWE Network/Peacock, so let’s go in blind and see how it is. N2R was created with a goal to being ECW’s WrestleMania or Starrcade level event, but outside of a few examples the show didn’t always deliver on that front.

The big matches on this one are Chris Benoit Vs Too Cold Scorpio, Shane Douglas Vs Ron Simmons and The Public Enemy Vs Mick Foley and Mikey Whipwreck, so at least some of those could be good if they get enough time and no one suffers an horrific injury just a couple of minutes in (foreshadowing).
