What if we did Saturday Night’s Main Event but we moved it to Sunday and called it Sunday Night’s Main Event? Well, we’re doing that. Join me for the next two hours or so of WWE and let us find out how many times I type “Saturday” instead of “Sunday.”

The last week in WWE: Raw / NXT / Evolve / Main Event / Impact / SmackDown / Lucha Libre AAA

Hey, did you know they had a preshow match featuring the AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio (accompanied by both of Raw’s women’s singles champions) and viral favorite Joe Hendry? Nobody else did either because they didn’t advertise it! I would’ve recapped it, but I didn’t know it was happening until I logged into Twitter right before the show and people were tweeting about it. Seems like the kind of thing you’d advertise so people would watch the preshow, but alas here we are. At least the Trick Williams/Laredo Kid last SNME had a little hype. Ah well, sorry Dom and Joe. See you on Raw.

Arrivals! Baron Corbin, Charlotte Flair, Tatum Paxley, Alexa Bliss, Jade Cargill, Michin, B-Fab, Oba Femi, Bron Breakker and The Vision (Maxxine with a “Hot Girls Eat Arby’s” shirt and feeding Austin Theory some delicious Arby’s Steak Nuggets) are all present and accounted for.

To the arena as Quavo pushes out a shopping cart of money to perform part of his new song again. We cut backstage to Trick Williams and Lil Yachty. Trick tells Yachty he’s got this.

Five Minute Challenge: WWE U.S. Champion Trick Williams vs Lil Yachty (with the Concrete Boys)

Yachty has a Nike swoosh on the back of his robe as well as his shorts, gloves and socks, guaranteeing we never get an accurate action figure of this gear. Ring announcer Lilian Garcia tells us there are no count outs or disqualifications and if Yachty survives five minutes, Trick gets a U.S. Title shot tonight. This is, of course, the in-ring debut for Yachty. Baron Corbin rides out on his motorcycle and has his fluffy belt. Corbin grabs a mic and gives Yachty one more chance to back out. Yachty decks Baron with the mic and we’re on.

We have a blinged-out countdown clock on the screen as Yachty tries to dodge Baron outside but gets caught. Corbin tosses Yachty into the barricade as the fans chant “Lil Yachty” then tosses him into another one before stripping the announce table. Corbin’s ear is sliced open from the mic shot as Yachty’s crew tries to drag Yachty into the crowd. Corbin starts tossing them around and then tosses Yachty back to the ringside area. Yachty grabs a bedazzled kendo stick and smacks Baron as we hit the three minute mark. In the ring, Corbin clotheslines the swinging Yachty down as Baron hits End of Days on one of Yachty’s crew. Yachty hits Corbin with a top rope rana of all things and then a flying crossbody for a two count.

1:45 left. Yachty runs into the End of Days and Corbin smiles, deciding to keep pounding on Yachty instead of finishing things. He swings Yachty into a second End of Days and rolls out, going under the ring to find the Slim Jim Table. With thirty seconds left, Corbin sets up the table and lifts Yachty onto the top rope. Fifteen seconds. Corbin tries to suplex Yachty, Yachty low blows him and with four seconds left, Corbin tumbles to the mat. Yachty survives. Frustrated, Corbin chokeslams Yachty through the Slim Jim Table.

Lil Yachty survives the five minute time limit to defeat Baron Corbin. Yachty was good here and the story of Baron being the overconfident jerk and it failing him worked. I liked it.

WWE U.S. Championship: WWE U.S. Champion Baron Corbin vs Trick Williams (with the remains of Lil Yachty)

The Dodge Ram Live and Loud! Meter tells us that the crowd noise is high and it seems accurate as the “Whoop That Trick” chants are loud for Trick’s entrance. Trick runs in to attack and we’re on. Trick takes Corbin down with two Cyclone Boots and smashes Baron into the announce table. Trick checks on Yachty and walks into Corbin who bounces him off the steel post. Corbin tosses Yachty into the timekeeper’s area and Trick leaps onto Corbin, sliding him back in the ring. Trick chops the hell out of Corbin in the corner and gets a two count on a DVD.

Corbin backdrops Williams onto the apron and shoves him into the announce desk. The very pro-Trick crowd chants “Corbin sucks” as he tosses Trick into the steel steps. They head in (our center ring advertiser is “The Blood of Dawnwalker” tonight which I assume is a video game I’ll ignore in a year on GamePass or a Magic expansion or something) and Baron works over Trick’s head with a barrage of elbows. Baron slows it down to work Trick for a while who finally powers out and clotheslines Baron down, both men going down.

Corbin catches Trick with a chokeslam for a two. Baron runs into a Bookend and Trick powers up, Baron sidestepping him and hitting Deep Six for a two. Corbin sends Trick shoulder-first into the ring post and rolls outside, crawling to his fluffy championship belt. He tries to roll in but Yachty grabs the other side, giving us a tug of war. Trick hits Baron with the Cyclone Boot and Baron kicks out at 2.5. As the referee tries to roll Yachty out, Corbin still has the fluffy belt and nails Williams. Corbin covers and Williams kicks out at approximately 2.9. Corbin is furious and tries for End of Days, Williams spins out and hits the Trick Shot for the three.

Trick Williams pins Baron Corbin to become the new WWE U.S. Champion. A very entertaining match and they almost got me with the Baron belt shot. I imagined we’d probably get back here when the belt never lost the fluff, and in front of the Atlanta crowd is a great spot to do it.

Michael Cole and Wade Barrett greet us from ringside. They let us know about Crown Jewel in Saudi and Wrestlepalooza in Perth amongst other things.

Ladies and gentlemen, his name is WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman and he is in-ring to introduce our competitors.

Oba Femi vs WWE World Tag Team Champion Bron Breakker

I can’t imagine we have a clean win in this match especially if it is going on second and the other Arby’s-eating members of the Vision are somewhere in the building. Depends on how distracting the Beef & Cheddars are back in catering. Are there potato cakes? Jamocha shakes? I have many questions and no answers here. The men tie up and neither can really overpower the other. They each bounce off the ropes and try for shoulder tackles, neither effective. Bron powders outside and Oba follows, scooping up Bron and tossing him head-first into the side of the ring. Oba scoops Bron up again and Bron slides out, shoving Femi into the ring post. Bron charges off the apron and Oba smacks the hell out of his chest, chopping him to mat. My god. Oba clotheslines Bron near the announce table and clears the poor announce table, taking a swig of Wade’s water. Bron leaps to the apron and clotheslines Oba over the announce table. Back in, Bron hits the gas pedal and clotheslines through Bron. Bron scoops Oba onto his shoulders and drops him on his knees for a quick two count.

Bron hooks on a rear choke, wrapping his legs around Bron. Oba elbows out and runs into a German suplex, getting Bron another near fall. Bron keeps giving the camera Jim Halpert looks, which kind of rules. Bron clotheslines Femi back to the announce table area and rams him spine-first into the apron before rolling him back in. Bron leaps onto Oba’s back with a sleeper, Oba backs him into the corner to break it. They trade blows before Oba uppercuts the hell out of Bron and then runs into a flying knee by Bron. Bron hits a German, Oba leaps up and runs back at him with a running clothesline. Oba scoops Bron up and bounces him off with Snake Eyes and nails him with a big boot. Oba smacks Bron with the repeated running uppercuts in the corner and chokeslams Oba onto the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” logo on the mat. Oba scoops Bron up again and Bron rakes the eyes, Oba tumbling to the outside as Bron grins at the camera. Bron charges around the ring but runs into Bron’s uppercut as WWE World Tag Team Champion Austin Theory appears and gets tossed through the announce table. Bron nails Oba with the spear and rolls him in, running and nailing another spear for a two count.

The fans chant for Oba as Logan Paul’s music hits and Logan runs out with his brass knuckles. The referee tosses him right out but not before Maxxine Dupri appears with her own knuckles and hands them to Bron. Bron swings and Oba ducks, catching and tossing Bron across the ring. Big Bronson Reed appears with a chair, nailing Oba and sending us to a disqualification. Reed heads up and drops the Tsunami on Oba.

Oba Femi defeats Bron Breakker by disqualification. This was a lot of fun and the hoss battle we were promised, though if you expected a clean ending I don’t know what to tell you. It is good to see Big Bronson back too who looks to be in phenomenal shape.

Bronson helps Bron up and gives him a hug, holding Oba for Bron to spear. Reed goes up and hits another Tsunami and another just for fun. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce, late as ever, finally appears with the officials to try to stop it and, Adam Pearce as ineffective as ever, cannot do the job. Maybe one day he’ll prioritize putting his office near the entrance ramp.

Can I just say how nice it is for the commercials to be in between matches and not having three-minute ad breaks in the middle of matches? It is nice.

Celebrities! They love wrestling! Here’s Quavo again! Here’s T-Pain! Celebrities, they love WWE!

Cole and Barrett break down Bron/Oba which sends us back to Paul Heyman watching on a monitor. My favorite unbiased journalist Cathy Kelley questions how he feels about all of this and he answers his phone, walking off. Very rude behavior in the presence of Cathy Kelley. I could never.

Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley vs Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab

With this match, both Jade and Michin tie Rhea Ripley for most women’s matches on SNME since its 2025 rebirth. I am very happy to see Tatum get this spotlight. Flair, Bliss and Paxley are all wearing black and pink gear tonight. Aww, they’re bonding. Wade challenges Cole to name one T-Pain song which Cole is quickly able to do and then he plugs Arby’s steak nuggets. Jade, Michin and B-Fab have TLC “No Scrubs” gear which is amazing. Both commentators are also able to name a TLC song.

Paxley and B-Fab start it off, B-Fab quickly getting a tag to Michin. Jade pulls Tatum to the outside and knees her in the face before tossing her back in. Michin and B-Fab double suplex Tatum, B-Fab leaps at Tatum and she dodges to tag in Bliss. Bliss peppers B-Fab with blows and flips into a modified Natural Selection for a two count. Bliss leaps from the second rope into B-Fab’s arms and wiggles out, trying for Sister Abigail but being distracted by Michin. B-Fab scoops Bliss up into a powerslam for a near fall and tags in Michin, flipping Michin onto Bliss. Michin tags in Jade who boots Bliss in the corner. B-Fab tags in and powers over Bliss again, Bliss rolling B-Fab into the turnbuckle and getting the hot tag to Charlotte as Michin also tags in.

Flair crossbodies from the top onto Michin and starts the chops, the fans happy to “wooo” along. Flair hits Michin with a reverse German and does the Flair strut before clotheslining Michin down after a handstand. Michin tries for a rana, Flair catches her and puts her on the top rope before rana-ing her down herself for a near fall. Michin gets a tag to Jade who boots Flair in the head and lifts her on her shoulders for a spinning Sand Storm, Tatum breaking it up. Tatum and B-Fab brawl outside and Jade tries for Jaded, Charlotte rolling through with a two count. Michin is in and leaps into Charlotte’s arms who suplexes her right with Jade. Charlotte heads up and moonsaults onto both of them, covering Jade for a two. Bliss comes in and is tripped by B-Fab, being shoved into the steel steps. Charlotte dodges a big kick from Jade and tries to hook the Figure-8, B-Fab tries to break it and Tatum grabs her leg. They try for stereo Figure-8s, B-Fab kicks Tatum into Charlotte. Jade hits Jaded on Charlotte and gets the pin.

Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin defeat Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley when Jade Cargill pins Charlotte Flair. This was a bit spotty, but I did appreciate the continued story of Jade and friends having great teamwork. Not enough of a spotlight for Tatum for my liking but she has plenty of time to get more shine.

The Miz and Joe Tessitore, our hosts, greet us for the first time on the main broadcast at least at 9:24. Thanks for coming, guys. They hype up Raw and then the big world title matches on Mexico City’s SmackDown and Raw.

Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton

This is Randy’s first TV match since these two met at Mania in April, though he did lose to Cody at a live event about a month ago. This is the 154th time that these two have shared a ring in some form of a match and their fourteenth televised singles match together. Cody is wearing a goofy mask which means this is a big match and the WWE 2K team is plotting out an easy Ringside Pass skin for 2K27. Orton tries to slither in behind Cody during the entrance but Cody catches him. They brawl to the announce table, Cody and Randy brawling over by Brandi Rhodes and Mama Rhodes (a name I can only hear in The Rock’s voice now) who are at ringside. They brawl into the crowd and Cody conks Randy over the head with a trash can. They trade blows near the lighting area and brawl back up past Brandi and Mama where Randy tosses Cody back to ringside.

Randy whips Cody into the steel steps and Randy tosses Cody in the ring, walking over to stare at Brandi and Mama Rhodes. Randy rolls in and we finally get a bell, Cody nailing a Cody Cutter and hooking a figure-four in the center of the ring. Randy gets out and chokes Cody on the ropes, referee Charles Robinson warning him. Orton slingshots Cody under the ropes and paces around the ring, Cody getting back to his feet and slugging Orton before running into Randy’s elbow. We slow it way down as Orton works Cody’s neck and Cole tells us about their time in Legacy. Cody fights out and clotheslines Randy back to the announce table as Cole notes that Randy quickly grabbed his left wrist on his way down. It’s all a ruse as Orton thumbs Cody in the eye and slams Cody into the Arby’s branded hood of the announce table.

Cody is able to throw Randy back in but runs right back into the offense of Randy. Randy takes forever to start his corner punches on Cody, Cody slides out and hits his own ten punches to Randy’s noggin in the corner. Randy rolls out and Cody follows, Randy grabbing Cody and dropping him right on top of the steak nuggets logo and then doing it a second time. The disrespect to the steak nuggets. Randy rolls Cody back in again and rolls himself back out to walk back towards Brandi and Mama. Brandi tosses her drink in his face and Randy rolls in, Cody punching him to the mat. Cody hits a Disaster Kick and the Dream-style lefts and elbow. He tries for Cross Rhodes, Orton punches out. Randy lays in the vintage powerslam and the crowd chants for Randy as he drops Cody with the DDT off the ropes. He takes his sweet time hearing voices and gives Cody a full minute to recover, which means I’m not shocked when Cody pushes out of the RKO attempt and turns it into a Cross Rhodes for a two.

The fans chant “this is awesome” as Orton dodges a Cody Cutter, Cody dodges a RKO and shoves Randy almost into Robinson before Randy finishes the job and shoves Cody into Robinson. Randy hits a RKO but we have no ref because poor Charles Robinson has the worst luck. Randy sets up the big boot (again taking forever to do it) and Cody side steps, hitting Cross Rhodes. Randy rolls out and Cody dives into him, Charles being right behind Randy and being knocked down again. Charles, you’ve gotta quit being in the way. Cody shoves Randy into the ring post repeatedly and punches Randy on the announce table. Cody takes apart the steel steps and clonks Orton in the face before giving us “emotions.” Randy fights up to his feet, his face busted open, and Cody punches him around ringside. Cody tosses Randy in again and leaps from the top with a Super Cutter, looking at Randy’s blood on his arm. Randy stumbles to his feet and Cody hits two more Cutters. Randy is a bloody mess. Wade tells us that Cody is shocked at his own powers as the fans chant for Randy again. Cody backs up, thinking about a punt of his own, and stops short when Randy puts out his arm for mercy. Randy begs off and slowly uses Cody’s leg to try to get up, Cody shoving him down. Cody gives us “conflicted” as Eddie Orengo appears to finally check on Orton. Rhodes tries to hold Orengo back and Randy low blows Cody and, because he was right behind Cody, Orengo. Orton hits an RKO and Robinson reappears, counting the three count as Brandi and Mama Rhodes look on with disappointment.

Randy Orton pins Cody Rhodes. Well, it was a lot better than WrestleMania. There were moments they slowed it down a little much, especially Orton taking forever before all the big spots, but it worked.

The credits roll as Orton stares across the ring at Cody, blood still flowing down his face from his ear. Bad night to be an ear.

A very entertaining issue of SNME. The six-woman tag was probably the low point and even it wasn’t actively bad, just a bit spotty. Oba-Bron was a good hoss fight and a good preview for the bigger things to come for them down the line. Orton-Rhodes was actively better than their Mania match and the opening Yachty/Corbin/Williams matches were great openers with a hot crowd. I’d recommend this show.
