WWE Evolve September 2nd 2026

By Phrederic on 2 September 2026

Welcome back to Evolve as we have two #1 contenders matches, but before we get into that, make sure to catch up on a big week for WWE and its related companies.

Main Event – Impact – Smackdown – Ola de Calor – Heatwave – Raw – NXT

And we’re immediate with the flips, the posing, the rapping, and the SCIENCE, boom it’s Evolve!

We open with Blake Howard and Robert Stone on commentary and they introduce us to Sarah Schreiber as our backstage journalism. She tells us about the contender matches and now it’s Evolve Champion Harlem Lewis to be interviewed in the VIP Lounge. He wants a front row seat to see who is next and…here we go.

Max Abrams is out with a face mask first to say that he did get some work done with Dr. DeNucci in Miami who is very exclusive and they’re tight. Dr. D says that Max’s bone density is in the 99 percentile. Max says he can take the mask off but decides to keep it on and says that you can say things about him but he’s not ugly. He does some iPhone/Android jokes and asks the fans to take out their smartphones, set it to Mog Mode and ask if they need help. Max tells them they need to get help, cause we’re ugly. This promo continues to go on and how he’s healing well but until he heals up we’re going to get CJ Valor in his spot.

CJ Valor vs. Harley Riggins vs. It’s GAL vs. Cutler James

Background: So this is for the number one contendership for Harlem’s belt. CJ is part of the Mog Squad and is the X-Factor, a tiny power guy and the sorta enforcer/punching bag for the stable. Harley Riggins is “The Big Rig” and he’s a big nasty Kevin Nash cosplayer with the tasseled pants and a sorta mean biker/trucker gimmick, he’s winning some matches and no longer anybody’s stooge. It’s GAL is a babyface as an arrogant bodybuilder who does some Superstar Billy Graham rhyming trash talk. Last is Cutler James of DarkState who is…maybe a face in Evolve. He’s a big amateur wrestler guy who is trying to find out what else he is.

The Match: We start with everybody trading shots before Cutler stands tall until It’s GAL hits a cazadora into a codebreaker and then CJ and GAL take down Cutler with a double-shoulder before disagreeing if it’s Mog or GAL and they duke it out until Harley Riggins takes them out with a jumping big boot and then the two big men in Cutler and Riggins stomp out the others before we get a big strikefest with them trading boots and elbows until a Cutler lariat takes down Riggins. They flub a move as Cutler doesn’t quite get It’s GAL into the alley-oop for CJ’s spear and Valor and James duke it out. CJ with another spear on Cutler and then a dropkick to Harley before he gets superkicked by the Big Rig…who then hits his whisper in the wind on both but a It’s GAL dropkick and we go to a break. Back in and It’s GAL hits a Blue Thunder Bomb on Harley for 2 but Cutler gets a pop-up uppercut and then CJ begs off and James seems to accept…before a gutwrench gutbuster is broken up by Harley. Riggins gets double-legged and then lariated with a .7 Jannetty bump off of it. Cuter with a combination giant/airplane swing on CJ and GAL and then a short-arm lariat on GAL gets 2.6. Harley runs in on Cutler and they some punch-drunk brawling before a low dropkick on James, a goozle that gets broken so a leg lariat knocks down James…only for CJ to spinebuster Harley and GAL breaks that cover up and Big Daddy Red goes wild with a lariat to send CJ outside. Harley goes up AGAIN with another whisper in the wind but James almost turns that into a powerbomb and It’s GAL breaks up the pin again. It’s GAL powers up and tries to get Cutler for a fireman’s carry but James is too big and It’s GAL settles for tossing everybody outside and a springboard plancha takes everybody out. GAL tosses CJ in but Harley cuts off GAL and kicks his head off…but stops to talk trash to Harlem Lewis and they brawl, so It’s GAL tosses Harley into the steps and a springboard lariat drops Valor and the Dummy Buster (fireman’s carry gutbuster) gets…nothing as Max Abrams yanks the ref out. Cutler James in with a big kick on GAL and then The Vortex (swinging side slam backbreaker) gets 3 on Valor.

So, this match made Cutler James look like a total monster, so good on them. It was chaotic and confused and sloppy which is to be expected. It’s GAL continues to have pretty good babyface instincts and was the performer of the match. CJ Valor is just too tiny to take seriously with all his power moves and while I like Harley…I have no idea why he keeps doing all these springboards and jumps. I get you want to put over Cutler but he was leaving his feet for EVERY offensive maneuver, too much. Still, if you have 4 guys you should be all-action and this one was. It hummed along, had some decent character beats and set up future stuff, totally fine TV wrestling match with a dominant performance.

Backstage and we have Evolve Women’s Champion Nikkita Lyons in lotus position while Sloane Jacobs checks her phone. Jacobs wants to update Nikkita on something, and Lyons is annoyed cause she’s currently traveling the astral realm. Sloane lets her know they’ll be in the VIP section. Nikkita asks who is going to win. She already beat Laynie Luck. Nikkita likes Zena Sterling’s energy shift, but no. Skylar Raye is Skylar “Who.” So Sloane adds it’s OBVIOUSLY Wren Sinclair, Nikkita scoffs, says she’ll need to teach Jacobs fortune telling, and that it doesn’t matter cause none of them are beating her. Nikkita oms Sloane into silence and you can see the daggers in Jacobs eyes.

Laynie Luck is warming up with the ID crew who are hyping her up.

Zena Sterling is cutting a promo backstage about how in Ukraine you don’t talk unless you have something important to say. But in the US, people are entitled and talk all the time, so Zena would smile, she’d laugh even when it wasn’t funny. Zena tried to fit in, be cute, and get along with others, but it didn’t work. So enough is enough and it’s time for a change. This is the REAL Zena. She’s doing it for Ukraine!

Eh, pretty generic heel promo.

Cutler James heads backstage and Sam Holloway yaps at him backstage…and the rest of the ID 1.0 crew. Aaron Rourke, Marcus Mathers, Sam Holloway, and Cappuccino Jones all make the ring. And boy is this a wild mess of looks. Sam is in jeans and a black shirt. Marcus is in gym shorts and a black tank top. Rourke has pink and white camo pants and a shining cut-off, and Cap is in a white suit with a yellow tie and no undershirt. Fantastic, no notes. Rourke reminds us that the Mog Squad tried to take him out last week but he’s still standing. Marcus adds that they’re standing with Rourke cause they’re gonna take out those CLOWNS. Everybody is sick of the Mog Squad. Sam Holloway is done and he wants to take them out. Cap adds he’s not down with this JIVING, and he won’t be shoulda, coulda, woulda, Cap is Mr. Right Now, and what that means is the Mog Squad need to come out and receive this butt whooping. And the Mog Squad answer…but CJ is limping and Jacari Ball says this is typical. CJ is hurt, Max is recovering from surgery! Santi Rivera says this is a vent session by losers and the Mog Squad can’t relate. Jacari says that Cappuccino has no idea what era or timezone he’s in and his outfit is trash (HOW DARE YOU!). Aaron Rourke is next, and after losing the title, he’s washed. Marcus Mathers is just…they don’t wanna say it so they just pose. It’s too much to talk about so they’ll leave Marcus alone. And Sam Holloway is a giant moron. Sam says that the Mog Squad won’t come to them, so they’ll come to you. So THE FOREMAN Timothy Thatcher says this makes everybody look bad, so they just need to settle it in the ring. Next week every match will feature ID prospects, and it’ll be the Mog Squad vs. 1.0 in a gauntlet elimination match.

Wren Sinclair talks about how this is a big opportunity and it’s on Wrensday no less! (Shoutout to my girl Wren who is suffering badly at this time). Skylar says she’s never had a match like this before. Sinclair of course won a last-chance to get into the Iron Survivor match but it’s an unpredictable format. Skylar says she’s enjoyed teaming with Wren but it’s every woman for themselves and since this is her first shot at a title, she’s going to win…and Wren says that maybe they’ll both lose. POSITIVITY WREN! JEEZ! Regardless, both agree that Big Kat Kita needs to lose and they wish each other luck and throw up the WrenQCC sign.

As awkward as these sorta promos are, Wren is good on the mic and Skylar seems okay. It’s goofy exposition stuff but hey, that’s wrestling.

Big showcase on the ID Program and all the promotions and schools it works with. Cody Rhodes! Seth Rollins! Who will be next!

Sloane Jacobs is here to introduce Nikkita Lyons. We need appreciation and admiration for the most important person in Evolve history. Sloane goes down all Nikkita’s nicknames and I get it, we can do the breakup angle now. Oh, and Anya Rune shows up and Gianna Capri and Veronica Haven beat her up before refs break it up.

Zena Sterling vs. Laynie Luck vs. Skylar Raye vs. Wren Sinclair

Background: Zena is now a cheating bad girl in a shirt and baggy pants combo with a Final Fantasy level of zippers. Laynie Luck is our hardscrabble 10 year indie vet in seafoam and turquoise gear. Skyar Raye is super young and dresses like a Cowboys cheerleader (and might be a former one?) she’s plucky and spunky and full of vigor. Wren we know as the somewhat delusional but goodhearted goofball leader of the WrenQCC in her regular dark green gear and is the clear crowd favorite based on her reaction.

The Match: Zena is everybody’s punching bag and is kicked out of the ring and then the faces trade rollups. Zena runs in for a triple pin and then slugs away before suplexing Wren and catching Skylar for a backbreaker. Zena with another suplex attempt on Wren but Laynie breaks it up (why?) and they double superkick Sterling…who just shrugs it off and fires back with a double-lariat. Skylar gets a headscissors and dropkick on Zena and now she trades stuff with Laynie before Luck gets sent outside and a quick brawl with Zena goes to the Ukrainian…but Wren comes off the apron with a dropkick to put down Zena. Wren celebrates and puts up the v, but Laynie drops her with a tope and then Skylar hits a plancha and almost lands on her head as we go to a break. Back inside and stereo superplexes are teased but instead we get simultaneous crossbodies from Wren and Skylar who then hit the ropes in concert and a collision leads to a quadruple down. Wren and Skylar continue to dodge each other so Zena gets a lariat on Sinclair before Raye uses a headscissors to drop the heel. Skylar’s wheelbarrow is turned into an ura-nage by Laynie luck though and now Luck gets a series of boots on Wren, and a rolling back kick and a jawbreaker on Zena before a knee against the ropes sets up a Laynie slingshot stomp and Wren breaks it up. Sinclair tries a double-arm suplex but Laynie reverses to a German, Zena with a backdrop driver on Laynie, and Skylar with a codebreaker on Zena before Wren re-enters with an Alabama Slam but spun into a toss facebuster for a cover that gets broken by Luck. Luck, Wren, and Zena trade shots and Wren gets her overhead chops before a headscissors sens Laynie into Zena and now she gets the double-arm suplex and the X-Factor before the Final Wrench (Bridging Double-Chickenwing) almost has Zena tap but Laynie breaks it up. Laynie catches a kick and gives Wren a knee and then sets up Sinclair for a draping DDT and Skylar (a bit awkwardly) flies in with a blockbuster for a 2 on Laynie. Zena in and she picks up Skylar for a fireman’s carry, but Raye awkwardly (saying that a lot!) transitions to an inside cradle out of a slam attempt. Sterling with a tilt-a-whirl slam and Luck and Wren break that up. Wren and Skylar get up first and the cheerleader flips out of Wren’s double-arm suplex and then crossbodies the vet outside before hitting a tornado DDT off the apron. It’s Laynie and Zena back inside and Zena goes for the fireman’s carry again but Laynie gets a schoolgirl for 2, Luck with a step-up enzuigiri and a kip-up but then the lights flicker! It’s a platinum blonde in a black bodysuit! That’s…that’s gotta be Vanta the Unknown! A side kick to Luck and then her semi-viral spinning axe kick drops Luck. Zena flees and Skylar Raye hits Starstruck (frog splash) and absolutely knees Laynie in the head on the landing. Yeowch. Anyway it gets 3.

**½

So I liked a lot of this match. The wrestlers all felt different. Skylar is the high-flyer. Zena is the powerful heel. Even two savvy vets in Wren and Laynie felt different. Luck had more offense and different ways of hitting you while Wren is pretty solidly built around setting up her finish and is more fundamentally sound. That said…Zena…powerhouse? Okay. And Skylar almost killed herself or her opponent like 3 times this match, she has spunk but lordy girl, please be safe out there. Luck looks a lot better in a less loaded roster and being a sorta…hard luck vet is an identity. It’s a shame that Sinclair couldn’t get it done on Wrensday but she’s quietly become a very solid worker and I’d be interested in singles between all four of these ladies. Ending was what it was but at least we FINALLY have Vanta the Unknown in the ring.

We end with Nikkita raising the belt up high in the ring with Sloane behind her against Skylar Raye.

Next week we’re going to have ALL ID MATCHES and the big elimination gauntlet between Rourke, Holloway, Mathers, and Capp vs. Mog Squad’s Rourke, CJ, Santi, and Jacari, plus Gianna Capri vs. Anya Rune. Oh, also THE FOREMAN Timothy Thatcher will give us the dates for the upcoming title matches.

As always, thanks for reading, and keep on evolving my Evolvemaniacs.
