WWE Main Event Review – 8.06.26

Are you ready for another round of Main Event? Who isn’t? Dozens of people are excited for Thursday night’s biggest show!

The last week in WWE: Main Event / Impact / SmackDown / AAA / SummerSlam Saturday / SummerSlam Sunday / Raw / NXT / Evolve

This week, Main Event comes to us from both The Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Casey’s Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Blake Howard and Vic Joseph are at the announce table while Lilian Garcia (in for Alicia Taylor) and Mark Nash cover the ring announcements. We’re post-SummerSlam, though our opening match was filmed prior to SummerSlam. Don’t worry, commentary tells you that SummerSlam has already happened.

Axiom (with Nathan Frazier) vs Ricky Saints

We know poor Ricky Saints, a man who has had two matches on this show since July, a loss against Carmelo Hayes and a win against Matt Cardona. Axiom was last here on Main Event in a loss to Carmelo Hayes in June, though he’s recently appeared on SmackDown in a tag loss with Nathan Frazier against the War Raiders. Vic tells us that Ricky has big hopes for Money in the Bank in his hometown.

Axiom snaps Ricky with a running headscissors and flips over him, tossing him across the ring and outside before leaping onto him of course. We discuss Baron Corbin’s title win as Ricky works over Axiom and how these gentlemen might want a piece of his title. Ricky kicks the knee out from Axiom and the crowd rallies for our masked crusader. Ricky walks the ropes for the blessing and misses a splash in the corner, Axiom rallying with a few chops and a pretty dropkick. Axiom heads to the top and dives over Ricky, his knee collapsing when he hits the mat. Axiom loads up the Golden Ratio but Ricky catches him and nails the Roshambo, covering and getting the pin.

Ricky Saints pins Axiom. This was a good match. I don’t know what you do to build these two up to regular television, but they’d both be assets to it.

Ivy Nile vs PJ Vasa

Ivy Nile has been on a conquest here on Main Event against NXT and Evolve women with wins over Wendy Choo, Thea Hail and Lizzy Rain in recent weeks. PJ Vasa is a young prospect of Samoan descent with a rugby background. She made her WWE debut on LFG in 2025 and is an Evolve regular. This is her main roster debut and first time in front of a crowd this large. You never know, she might be a future member of the Bloodline. I will say she has a great look.

PJ shoves Ivy down, showing she has the rare strength advantage over Ivy. Ivy goes for the knee and tries to slam PJ but can’t, PJ hitting the Samoan headbutt. Ivy scoops Vasa up again but the weight goes against her, Ivy falling under her. Vic suggests that Nick Aldis, Adam Pearce, and Robert Stone might all be making calls in short time to add PJ to their women’s divisions. PJ slams Ivy to the mat and misses a diving headbutt. Ivy dodges a corner charge and drops PJ with a spinning DDT. Ivy tries again for a slam and Vasa shuts it down again, scooping Ivy into a Samoan drop. PJ heads up top and Ivy rolls out of the headbutt. The fourth time is the charm as Ivy scoops PJ up and lands a modified version of the Gain Train, not quite strong enough to get her the three count. She scoops her up a fifth time and lands a full strength Gain Train, getting the pin.

Ivy Nile pins PJ Vasa. Alright, so PJ is a little rough around the edges but she’s new at all of this. She has a good look and some personality. I have no doubt with some more reps, she’s going to be a lot of fun. Ivy as our Main Event defender looked good as usual.

The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) vs Noam Dar & Romeo Mareno

American Made run this show like Stevie Richards once ran Heat, I think. The Creeds were on this show two weeks again in a victory against Dorian Van Dux and Sean Legacy. Noam Dar! That’s a name I haven’t seen in a while as someone who doesn’t jump into NXT often these days. Noam has found a tag partner in Romeo Mareno across NXT and Evolve over the last few months, but hasn’t been on Main Event since the November 9, 2023 episode where he and his Meta-Four partner Oro Mensah lost to Indus Sher. Romeo is making his first appearance on Main Event.

Julius tosses Mr. Supernova 11 as Vic notes Noam might be trying to get his footing back as he’s battled several injuries and he has a big Austin-style knee brace on. Romeo tags in as does Brutus. Romeo and Noam try to overwhelm Brutus with dual kicks but the distraction of Julius slows Noam down. Romeo tags in again and flies around including with a missile dropkick that kind of hits Julius. A lot of Romeo’s stuff here looks like it barely hits. Romeo dropkicks Julius outside and springboards onto both Creeds, tossing Julius back in. Julius moves a lot faster than Romeo though, leaping up to him on the top rope with a superplex. The Creeds hit Romeo with a double sit-down spinebuster and Brutus covers, the Creeds continuing to roll.

Brutus Creed pins Romeo Mareno, The Creeds defeat Dar & Mareno. A good tag match. Romeo’s stuff looks a little soft, but he’s new here and working with opponents he hasn’t met before.

Hey, this was another episode of Main Event with a few main roster stars stalled in place and American Made battling NXT upstarts. I think Ivy vs PJ is worth a watch just as an introduction to PJ if you, like me, aren’t an Evolve viewer. You can see the potential in the rough beginning stages.
