WWE Main Event Review – 7.30.26

It’s Thursday and you know what that means… Collision? Yeah, that’s happening tonight too this week but we are here for the true main event of Thursday. Um, Main Event. It’s the easiest half hour of wrestling you’ll watch this week!

Blake Howard and Vic Joseph welcome us to the 721st episode of Main Event. Our ring announcers tonight are Alicia Taylor and Mark Nash. We have matches tonight coming from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, as well as the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California.

Carmelo Hayes vs Ricky Saints

We’ve seen both of these men on Main Event recently. Melo was here back on the July 2nd episode defeating Axiom while Saints pinned Matt Cardona on the July 16th episode. Vic tells us that this could be a main event on any show in the world, but here we are on the current timeline where they’re stuck on Main Event while Baron Corbin is back getting the title shot they were going after.

Melo springboards off the ropes with a clothesline on Ricky and knocks him outside. Ricky takes Melo back down and flings him hard into the turnbuckles, Melo really selling it. Melo fights back with some chops as the fans start to chant for him, but Saints catches Melo with a spinebuster and a two count. Big Ricky walks the ropes to bless the fans and smack down Melo before hitting The Pose. Melo rings the bell of Ricky with a hard clothesline and springs back to his feet, dropping Ricky with the Dirty Diana for a near fall. Ricky sets up the finisher in the corner, Melo counters out and tries for the First 48. Saints scoops Melo up again out of that and Melo counters out, this time connecting with the First 48 for the win.

Carmelo Hayes pins Ricky Saints. An interesting match that could’ve gone either way. We’ll see when we see these men again here on Thursday nights.

LWO (Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde) vs Harley Riggins and Evolve Champion Harlem Lewis

Our friends in the LWO are regulars around here, last defeating DarkState on the July 16th episode. Harlem Lewis last appeared on Main Event back in June in a loss to Otis, but has since won the Evolve Championship from Aaron Rourke. Harley Riggins made his TV debut in August 2025 on Evolve but is making his big Main Event debut tonight. This is the first time the modern Evolve Championship belt has appeared on Main Event as well.

Vic notes there isn’t a tape on the Harley & Harlem team for the LWO to review. Riggins tags himself and the LWO double team him and Vic considers Riggins a possible future member of The Vision. Del Toro frog splashes onto a standing Riggins but gets no pin count on in. Riggins shoves Del Toro into the knee of Lewis as Blake notes how well the Evolve boys can CO-EXIST. Lewis tags in and gets a two count off a belly-to-back suplex and continues to have good teamwork as he tags Riggins back in. Things slow down for a while as the Evolve guys work over Del Toro before Wilde finally gets the lukewarm tag, trying to wake up the Intuit Dome crowd. Wilde hooks a flying armbar on Riggins and big Harley taps. The LWO win again.

Joaquin Wilde makes Harley Riggins submit, LWO defeats Lewis & Riggins. This was mostly boring but they were giving the Evolve gentlemen a chance to do some heel work. It didn’t make me really want to check them out beyond Main Event this week, but we’ll see them again.

WWE Women’s Speed Champion Wren Sinclair vs Lyra Valkyria

This is the first time we’ve seen our Bird Lady Lyra in televised action since she defeated Bayley at Saturday Night’s Main Event. We last saw her on Main Event on the June 18th episode where she teamed with Bayley to defeat Kali Armstrong and Layla Diggs. Wren is of course a regular on NXT but is making her Main Event debut tonight. This is also the first time the Women’s Speed Championship has made an appearance on Main Event, much like the Evolve Championship earlier. No, the belt is not on the line tonight. The only time Lyra has come in the rotation of that particular title is a first round loss in the title tournament to Iyo Sky.

Lyra plays up confusion over why the fans aren’t wooing with her music, but they get it going a little bit towards the end. Wren rolls Lyra up for a few near fall attempts as Blake notes how friendly Wren is and how she would lend human monies to Danhausen. Lyra ducks a dropkick and slingshots Wren into the bottom of the ropes. Lyra lays some elbows into Wren’s head and hooks a headlock as Vic ACKNOWLEDGES LIVE EVENTS (!!!) and Bayley coming out to attack Lyra since their SNME match. Wren works up to her feet and elbows out of the headlock but is shoved right back to the mat, Lyra mocking her and almost getting rolled up. Wren chops Lyra and gets fired up, taking Lyra down with a headscissors and a splash in the corner. Lyra lifts Wren up for Nightwing, Wren slips down and Lyra shoves her into the ropes. This gives Lyra the chance to easily hook on her Captain’s Hook-like submission with Wren tapping quickly.

Lyra Valkyria defeats Wren Sinclair by submission. This was pretty good. The California crowd didn’t particularly get into Wren, but they did like their Bird Lady.

Nothing was can’t miss tonight, but the opener was enjoyable and it’s good to see Lyra.
