WWE Main Event Review – 7.23.2026

Good Thursday evening to you! Are you ready for the best Thursday night dose of action, Main Event? Me too.

But first, let’s tell some stories! I bought a new TV today. It was finally time to treat myself. I last bought a new TV almost fifteen years ago. I’ve been needing a new one for a few years as the audio quality has slowly dropped and of course the Smart TV functions like the Roku interface had slowed to a pace almost as slow as that Triple H/Roman WrestleMania match. I didn’t do anything extravagant (mid-price point for sure), but it’s a little bigger and I’ve moved from HD to 4K. I’ve been rewatching Lost very slowly over the last few months, and watching an episode yesterday versus today has been a completely different experience. It’s a weird adaptation for sure. That said, I’m seeing colors I feel like I haven’t seen before.

What better way to start watching wrestling on the new TV than watching WWE Main Event? (Also, if you’re a NXT 2.0 Rewind regular, it’ll probably be back next week.)

Blake Howard and Vic Joseph on commentary and Alicia Taylor and Mark Nash on ring announcements welcome us to Main Event. This week we’re coming to you from The Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, as well as The MVP Arena in Albany, NY.

Giulia vs Kiana James

We last saw this matchup back on July 23rd on SmackDown with Giulia winning in about ten minutes. Kiana has two prior Main Event appearances this year, trading wins with Jordynne Grace. Giulia has found herself on this show once this year, also against Jordynne on the June 11th episode. Vic calls this the biggest match we’ve had in a while on Main Event. Kiana attacks before the bell as we discuss the Women’s Intercontinental Title scene and perhaps how this match could help these two into contending for the title at SummerSlam. Giulia headscissors Kiana and tosses her into the turnbuckle before Kiana grabs her hair and launches her to the mat. Kiana stomps down Giulia as the crowd rallies for Giulia. Giulia and Kiana trade blows on their knees before working up to Giulia punching Kiana and running through her with several clotheslines.

Giulia peppers Kiana with kicks and knocks her down with a big knee. Giulia hooks Kiana into a surfboard-style move and then boots her face-first into the mat, still only able to get a near fall. Kiana smacks Giulia with a huge boot and lands the Falcon Arrow, Giulia kicking out at a very near fall. Giulia sidesteps another kick but Kiana hits the Dealbreaker. She tries for a standing moonsault, Giulia dodges and hits a Northern Lights Bomb to again get by Kiana.

Giulia pins Kiana James. This was a lot of fun and the crowd loved it too. Take some time for this one. And can I get Giulia on Raw please?

American Made (Julius and Brutus Creed) vs Sean Legacy & Dorian Van Dux

American Made are regulars around here, having four Main Event matches in 2026 and many more in 2025. Doing the NXT 2.0 rewatches, it is interesting to see the Creeds coming in as hot prospects in Diamond Mine and being mostly stuck on Main Event years later. I’ve also recently typed this about their associate Ivy Nile. As someone who doesn’t pay much attention to NXT, this is an introduction to their opponents for me. The duo just lost a match contending for the NXT Tag Team Titles a week ago on NXT. Sean came in through the WWE ID program in 2024. Van Dux was part of a 2025 recruitment class. Van Dux looks like he could be Corey Graves’ beefier stunt double.

Julius slaps around Legacy to start, Legacy getting a dropkick before Brutus comes in. Blake wonders what the Creeds have been doing all summer. Vic correctly states that we have not seen them in AAA this year. I do wonder what happened to Bruto and Julio Creedo, but those are two entirely different people and Blake shouldn’t be trying to tie them to Brutus and Julius with no proof. DVD tags in and they double team Brutus with stereo standing moonsaults. Brutus clubs DVD down and drops him with a toss into the air before tagging Julius back in. Julius knocks Legacy off the apron and keeps working on DVD. DVD hits a DDT and gets the hot tag, flipping off the ropes onto Julius and kicking Brutus in the corner. Legacy springboards in with a dropkick and then hits Sliced Bread. Legacy goes up as Julius distract the ref, Brutus knocking him down. Brutus climbs up and hits the Brutus Ball, the big man covering and getting the pin.

Brutus Creed pins Sean Legacy, American Made defeat Legacy & Van Dux. This was a good showing for the newbies but also a good reminder that the Creeds are an entertaining tag team when you let them actually do things.

Ivy Nile vs Wendy Choo

Ivy continues her Main Event adventure of working through the developmental women’s divisions. She has wins over Lizzy Rain, Karmen Petrovic and Thea Hail in recent weeks on the show. Wendy hasn’t been on this show since February 2023 when she defeated Dana Brooke. Wendy has done a lot since then, notably winning the Evolve Women’s Title before recently losing it to Nikkita Lyons. She’s also doing something that Thea Hail did last week, competing on episodes of Main Event and TNA Impact that air on the same night.

Wendy being announced from “The City That Never Sleeps” is a nice touch. Ivy aggressively backs Wendy into the corner as the bell rings, Wendy fights out and they trade submission moves on the mat. TNA even gets a plug on commentary as Ivy stomps Wendy in the corner to the jeers of the live crowd. I wish this crowd cared more about Wendy, but I’m afraid she’s not on the Raw live crowd radar. She should be. As she shoves and headbutts her way back in control, Wendy starts connecting a little with said crowd. She flips into Ivy in the corner and then nails her with a running kick and dives onto her for a two count. Wendy goes for the Snooze button, Ivy counters out and almost falls to Wendy’s inside cradle. Wendy connects with the Snooze Button (at about 75% efficiency) and can only get a two. She tries to lock Ivy into a submission, Ivy kicks and connects with the Gain Train to continue her Main Event streak.

Ivy Nile pins Wendy Choo. This also was good. Ivy’s looking good on these shows, though I am afraid it won’t turn into much more on the bigger stages. Wendy was impressive here too.

3/3 on the matches this week. As always, an easy thirty minutes. I’d recommend this one if you have a spare half hour.
