Evening Daily News Update
By Garth Holmberg on 21 July 2025
From the pages of the BOD Magazine, here’s UPDATE.
Good evening, Doomers. It’s Monday, and that means we’ve got a SOLD-OUT edition of Monday Night Raw with Roman Reigns announced ahead of time to appear. CM Punk is scheduled to appear, Becky Lynch as an indecent proposal for Lyra Valkyria (part of that statement is a gag), Sami Zayn looks to get revenge against Karrion “Killer” Kross, Sheamus and The Man Called Rusev run it back, and there’s ANOTHER contender’s match, this time with the LWO, Creeds, and New Day fighting for the chance at the Raw Tag Titles. ENOUGH WITH TRIPLE THREATS AND FOUR-WAY MATCHES. Kat should be with us after the show with her recap of all the activities.
TNA Slammiversary was last night, and Saherrin has the featured recap. It’s astonishing that TNA has survived for 23 years with so much going wrong and so little going right. I would call it a walking corpse, but they actually drew their best house in over a decade last night, and one of their best EVER (they were REALLY bad at selling tickets, even when Spike TV ratings were respectable). Sonic brings us this week’s episode of WWE LFG, Rock Star Gary has the next chapter in World Class, Tomas has a list of Goldberg matches we might not want to admit are pretty darn good, Jabroniville has GAEA Japan for Joshi Spotlight, and last, but not least, Scisco’s What the World Was Watching featuring Challenge from 03.27.1994. I swear, if I get around to finishing my next Fan-Cam show, I won’t publish it on a Monday with all this competition.
CM Punk Almost Returned to WWE in “2018 or 2019”
Everyone’s favorite Straight-Edge Superstar nearly missed out on his memorable AEW debut, but Vince McMahon ghosting him after a handshake deal meant a return to WWE pre-AEW wasn’t meant to be (until he appeared on that awful FOX talk show, but no one remembers it, I don’t think).
Mike Bennett reflects on 8-Years of Sobriety
Mr. Kanellis opens up on the anniversary of when he kicked the painkillers habit. We’re all happy to see him persevere as he and Maria expect their third child.
YouTube Spotlight: Strangest SummerSlam Matches
Relive some of the most unconventional matches in SummerSlam history, including Shawn Michaels vs. Rick Martel in a battle where no hitting in the face is allowed, a Jailhouse Match pitting The Big Boss Man against The Mountie, a Lion’s Den Match, a heated Ring of Fire Match and much more!
I’m being told we are desperately running out of time. Enjoy yourselves, respect each other, keep it clean, and come out dooming! – GH
