Hey Scott,

Was Scott Steiner always a bit of a psycho or was there a moment late in the WCW days where he snapped? Watching him in the 80s/early 90s is like watching a totally different guy (haircut aside) from what he was by the time the promotion died… and even more so in the WWE and TNA runs. I get wrestlers/characters/people evolve (devolve?) but what the hell happened?

​I think he was always a little crazy under the surface of his nice-guy persona, but clearly he did a LOT of drugs in the 90s, even if only the muscle-improving kind. Roid rage is a real thing and Steiner was in a lot of pain due to injuries, so a mix of roids of painkillers isn’t going to be the best way to maintain a stable mental state. Davey Boy Smith also went completely nuts at the end of his life due to his back being wrecked and him trying to maintain his physique. ​
