The Raw Rewind: WWE Monday Night Raw – 9.28.26

It has been a rough few weeks in the wrestling fandom. Last night, we learned of the passing of Benjamin Satterley, who competed as Pac in AEW and Neville in WWE. Loss is always sad, but especially when it is sudden and unexpected. If you’d like, you can join us in paying tribute to Ben here. Please consider being kind to each other and tell people how much you love and appreciate them because you never what the next day brings.

I’d also like to send some love to the family and friends of Rick Achberger, the superfan you know as Sign Guy who has spent many years in the crowd with his red hat, blue shirt, and signs. He passed this weekend after battling some health issues.

Let’s try to enjoy a little Monday Night Raw. It looks like an episode that is heavy on “wrestler addresses a situation” and one of our hyped matches is Dragon Lee vs Big Cass, so we’ll see what we have to work with here. Even the Money in the Bank qualifiers are skipping Raw, heading to SmackDown instead this week.

Here’s a look at 946 blowing up cars and kidnapping Solo Sikoa. They’re dangerous! Here’s a look at them sending him walking with a hood into the distance as well after the show ended.

The Bloodline (Main Event Jey Uso, Big Jim Uso and Jacob Fatu) are first out tonight. Jimmy says they can’t come back from 946 kidnapping their little brother. “That’s my little brother, that’s our little brother!” Jacob tells us that he has been telling his brothers to lay low and play it slow. He says this is on him and all of that is out the window because tonight they’re going to dogwalk 946. Jey issues a warning shot.

A car pulls up in the parking lot – parking illegally – and the Bloodline boys run back to greet them. Speaking of greeting, Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore greet us from ringside. We go back and the door of the car door opening, Jaida Parker coming out. “What are you doing here?” asks Jey. “I’m here to talk to Adam Pearce.”

Arrivals! Oba Femi, Dragon Lee, Rey Mysterio, and Stephanie Vaquer have all arrived in a timely manner for their jobs. They’ll all be on the show tonight. Penta struts in as well and comes across Je’Von Evans, who chat about Money in the Bank before being interrupted by Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh. Dom blames his loss on Adam Pearce (fair) and question if they even care that Solo was kidnapped. Hell, Solo’s dad is posting AI dance videos on Twitter, he doesn’t even care. Je’Von makes fun of JD’s head. Penta suggests a tag team match and Dom says he’ll see them out there.

Instagram! WWE and Bleacher Report are doing a thing.

Lola Vice vs Roxanne Perez

The great Alicia Taylor is on the ring mic tonight. Roxanne gets the commercial break entrance. Both women will be in the upcoming Money in the Bank ladder match along with Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Jacy Jayne, and a sixth woman to be determined on SmackDown. Lola starts strong but is slowed down by a headlock. Lola hooks the armbar but Rox rolls it into a pin attempt to get right out of it. Rox slaps Lola, Lola tackles and lays in the knees. Rox tries to run up the ramp and Lola chases, tossing her into the apron. Rox clings onto the ropes and stomps down on Lola, pounding her and hitting her with an uppercut. She tries for a second, Lola hooks on a rear naked chokehold and they roll outside where Rox backs Lola into the announce table. Lola hooks it again and Rox drives her into the steel steps and suplexes her to the outside mat to send us to a break.

Joe Tess tells us this match is about momentum. Building momentum! Michael Cole would be proud. Lola is battering Rox in the corner and sets up for the corner ass attack. Rox boots Lola off of her and nails her with a running uppercut to the back and then springboarding onto her for a two count. Rox hooks on a crossface, trying to roll further away and being rolled into a triangle choke by Lola. Rox bridges out and uppercuts Lola again before running into a spinning kick. Rox runs into the MIA spinning back fist and she’s down and out, giving Lola the easy pin.

Lola Vice pins Roxanne Perez. This was a very good match for both of them. Lola looked great here and Rox is good as always. I’d recommend this one. I’d think Rox losing increases her odds of winning at MITB.

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez attacks Vice after the match and Sol Ruca runs out for the save, springboarding onto Raquel before Raquel tosses her on the apron. Sol dropkicks Raquel and tries for a Sol Snatcher, Rox grabbing her and Raquel dropping her with the Tejana Bomb. Rox nails Lola with Pop Rox. The Judgment Day stand tall once again. Well, as tall as Rox stands.

Jackie Redmond catches up with Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio backstage. Lee is ready for his match with Big Cass tonight. Rey has no doubt Lee is destined for greatness. Lee promises to bring the fire which brings in Big Cass, saying he is going to stomp the fire out.

WWE Radio! It’s moving to channel 93 on Sirius XM. The Billy Joel Channel, apparently, will be missed (or just shuffled elsewhere).

946 have sent in a new video. “Somebody ain’t making it off the block tonight,” warns Royce Keys. It’s nice that they at least have a video delivery setup. It is a much easier setup than when the NWO were sending video tapes to Nitro. Remember when Hulk sent that Roddy Piper music video?

King of the Ring Oba Femi marches out to chants in his finest shirt. The man does have great style. The fans are very loud for the Ruler tonight. He has a contract in his hand and he is here for business. There’s a certain way we have to handle issues in WWE and he knows the temperature changed with the return of Bronson Reed. “I know, I know, he sucks but I also know that he is one disrespectful SOB and he is the kind of man that if you give him an inch, he takes a mile.” He thinks perhaps Reed might have missed that “I’m the captain now.” Hit the meme! Oba knows they have to put pen to paper because that is how business is done. “The Wiseman taught me that.” He calls Bronson and his fat legs out here without the rest of the Vision to sign the contract.

Big Bronson Reed does indeed come out and appears to be alone at least for now. Reed snatches the contract and tells Oba that he does have balls but they’ve shared the ring twice and Reed has put him down twice. “I am not Brock Lesnar. I am not here to compete, I am here to dethrone the Ruler.” Reed tosses the mic and signs the contract, handing it back to Oba. Reed leaves and Oba wishes Reed good luck and says he is going to need it. This was good. Oba is a natural on the mic and Reed is a good match for him.

Earlier today, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce chatted with Iyo Sky. Lyra Valkyria interrupts and wonders why she still has to find Pearce to figure out what is next for her. They argue and Pearce sets up a match.

Dragon Lee vs Big Cass

A main event anywhere in the country! Lee knocks Cass down and leaps over him before running into the big size 16 boot. Cass pounds away at Lee before splashing him in the corner, Lee crashing to the outside. Cass chokeslams Lee onto the apron and we head to a break. They did make this little bit of a match the entire segment, yes.

We come back to Cass still in the lead. Lee shoves him into the corner and slugs Cass but is tossed into the corner again. Lee kicks Cass in the head and Cass grabs him by the throat and ragdolls him to the outside. Cass follows out and tosses Lee back in the ring as Barrett wonders if the referee is near throwing this one out. Cass covers for a two. Lee chops Cass down in the corner and dropkicks him, trying to stomp him down in the corner. Cass stands back up and charges, Lee dodging and Cass falling to the outside. Lee leaps onto him and ranas him into the barricade before taking the camera man down. Lee runs back in and flies into Cass. The referee counts as the fans chant “one more time.” Lee boots Cass on his way back in and leaps from the top, Cass catching him and lifting him to his shoulders. Lee slides into a modified octopus hold but can’t hold it. Lee DDTs Cass and nails the running elbow, Cass kicking out at 2.8 or so. Lee tries for Operation Dragon, Cass tries for a chokeslam and Lee flips it into a pin.

Dragon Lee pins Big Cass. This ended up being pretty good, really. It was too long and didn’t need to be a two segment match, but the second half was good. Cass, however, needs to start winning something on shows that aren’t Main Event.

The Usos and Fatu talk backstage. Jey asks for the play and Fatu thinks they’ll try to separate them so they have to stick together.

Jackie has caught up with WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer. Jackie wonders how Stephanie is choosing her next contender. Stephanie says Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan will have to face each other next week to determine her challenger.

L.A. Knight tells us via video package that it has taken him years but he is bulletproof. “This is possibly my last shot at this, I get that.” He tells Roman to take the training wheels off and try to do it on his own. He’ll battle Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank.

Queen of the Ring Iyo Sky vs Lyra Valkyria

These two last had a singles match together right here on Raw way back in December 2024 when Lyra defeated Iyo to advance in the Intercontinental Title Tournament. Iyo seems to have repurposed some Hulk Hogan boas for her ring gear. Lyra catches Iyo’s legs and flips her into a reverse Boston Crab before turning it into a Pendulum Swing and then folding her up and stomping the knees. They battle outside and Iyo climbs the barricade with help from a fan and leaps off onto Lyra with a crossbody. Iyo hops on the apron and Lyra follows, hanging Iyo upside down in the ropes and dropkicking her to the floor, mocking the face points to send us to DoorDash commercials.

We return to the women both down on the mat thanks to an in-ring collision. Iyo regains momentum first, flapjacking Lyra to the mat and landing a beautiful missile dropkick. Iyo points to face and runs right into a step-up boot and a sitting power bomb for a two count. “This is awesome,” chant the fans. Iyo tries for an underhook, Lyra flips out and scoops Iyo onto her shoulders. She tries for Nightwing, Iyo turns it into a stomp. This time Iyo does hit the backbreaker. Valkyria elbows Iyo on the apron and drops Iyo with a fisherman’s suplex, Iyo tumbling to the outside and Iyo cutting her arm in the process. Lyra dives out and Iyo dodges. Iyo springboards on Lyra and rolls her back in. Iyo is able to land the Meteora this time and heads up for the Moonsault, Lyra knocking her down, grabbing her by the head and dropping her back-first onto her knee. Lyra heads up top as Bayley appears on top of the announce table. This distracts Lyra long enough for Iyo to dropkick her on the way down. The Genius of the Sky nails Over the Moonsault and gets the pin.

Iyo Sky pins Lyra Valkyria. Fantastic match worth every second of your time. Iyo is always in the conversation for best in the world but this was a brilliant performance for Lyra as well.

Bayley, wearing an armband that says “BEN,” taunts Lyra from the table.

The Bloodline talk again when L.A. Knight walks in, making fun of how they have pictures of Roman on the wall. He wonders about Solo and Jey says Solo would be with the family if it wasn’t for Knight being in his ear. Knight tells them to tell their “jackass cousin” that he’ll see him next week.

Jackie is backstage with AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix. She congratulates him on his victory at Worlds Collide. He has a big announcement and will be defending his title across all brands. WWE Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable congrats him on this Worlds Collide thing we haven’t seen yet (and that they don’t promote the broadcast of during this show) when Ethan Page comes up to interrupt. Fenix notes Page isn’t a cruiserweight but he’ll beat his ass next week.

Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh vs Je’Von Evans and Penta

The Judgment boys work over Je’Von during the break. Je’Von flips out of Dom’s range and tags in Penta who takes down Dom and JD in the process with his sternum stomp. Dom walks into a rana and JD misses again, tumbling to the outside and Penta leaping on them both. Penta rolls Dom in and crossbodies him for a two as we go split-screen for some ads including Dominik Mysterio for DoorDash. We’re going Double Dom! Never go Double Dom. Nothing happens during the split-screen session. Dom dropkicks Penta into 619 position and hits it but Penta pops right up, trying for a Driver and Dom turning it around. Dom runs into a superkick, Penta runs into a superkick, they double clothesline each other to the mat. Evans tags in and calls hit shot, nailing the Red Dot before diving onto JD and sending him crashing over the announce table.

Je’Von tosses Dom into the timekeeper’s area and winds up, circling the ring and diving into Dom and the barricade. The fans chant “holy shit” as Je’Von springboards JD in the ring and covers for a two. “This is awesome” chant. It has really picked up. Je’Von is distracted by Dom but still springs over and kicks JD. Penta and Dom come in as well as Je’Von leaps off the top and accidentally hits Penta with the OG Cutter. JD nails Je’Von with the head, Dom hits 619 and covers for a very near fall. A guitar starts playing as Joe Hendry and Funko Pop Head Man head down the ramp, singing “JD McDonagh is a Funko Pop.” Not as good as the Roddy Piper song I linked to earlier, sorry. JD is distracted and tells Dom to finish it off, heading down the aisle to go for Joe. Penta superkicks JD and Je’Von leaps out onto him. Penta nails Dom with the Mexican Destroyer and gets the pin.

Penta and Je’Von Evans defeat The Judgment Day when Penta pins Dominik Mysterio. A very good match, especially the segment after the picture-in-picture break. Ignore the Funko Pop part but check this out.

Bron Breakker appears during the celebration and spears Penta. Je’Von leaps over him and is also destroyed by a spear.

Byron Saxton has found Becky Lynch, wearing a “Pac – Ben” armband, backstage. Becky says it has been two years since she has had a shot at the Women’s World Title. Liv Morgan walks up and asks what Becky has done to make the title picture more interesting. Becky doubts that Liv believes in herself.

Next week, Roman Reigns is back again. Plus, Sol & Lola against Raquel & Roxanne, Fenix vs Page and of course Becky vs Liv.

We head outside to 946 walking in, tickets and all. Right on time.

After a break, 946 (Royce Keys, Lucien Price and Bronco Nima) head down the steps through the crowd, no intro theme. Officials run down and things don’t end well for them as 946 toss them around. The Usos’ theme hits and the Usos and Fatu slowly walk down the aisle. The brawl is on as Wade tells us that street rules reign here. Jey and Nima trade blows in the ring before Price comes in for the save. Jimmy superkicks both men as Adam Pearce calls for peace outside. Fatu dives onto Price on the outside and Jey does the same to Bronco, Bronco catching him and slinging him into the ring post. OTM fight Jey into the crowd before Jimmy leaps onto them both. They brawl into some muscular fans that definitely do not work for the company and drag Jey to the back. Meanwhile, Fatu is getting worked over in the ring by Keys and a chair. Fatu superkicks Keys during a chair swing and batters him with headbutts and the corner hip attack.

Fatu grabs the chair and puts it around Royce’s head, trying for another hip attack but Keys ducking out. Fatu scoops up the chair and nails Keys as they fight down the entryway and to the back. We cut to the back and the Usos and OTM brawling near the loading dock. Bodies are everywhere and the officials are not able to separate it. We go elsewhere to Keys and Fatu battling up some steps and into the parking lot. Keys is tossed onto a table as Fatu yells about this being about family. Keys grabs Fatu and slams him into a rolling case before hopping into a car. Fatu leaps through the window and grabs him, hooking on ther Tongan Death Grip. Keys smashes Fatu’s head into the car and then slams the door into him.

A second car speeds up and smashes into Fatu.Jaida Parker getting out panicked. “I didn’t see you! Are you okay?” She tells Keys she didn’t see him before looking at Keys, kneeling down and telling Fatu, “Ain’t nobody safe.” Jaida hops into the back seat and rides off with Keys.

A really fantastic piece of television there. Keeping these two teams largely apart for weeks and then letting them brawl around for ten minutes in chaos was perfect. This is also a very good spot for Ms. Parker, finally having something to pull her onto the main roster and into a prime spot. 946-Bloodline continues to be great, fresh stuff. Watch all of this. Maybe twice.

A sleeper episode of Raw this week that really delivered across the show. Even the match I wasn’t feeling, Cass-Lee, found a good gear. Both women’s matches were excellent and the tag match was also very good. 946 continue to be the stars of the show. I recommend this episode!
