Piper putting over Bret

Hi Scott,

I’ve seen time and again references to Piper being adamant about not doing jobs, and a look at his career pretty easily confirms this to be true. Why did he put over Bret cleanly at WrestleMania VIII? Was it because he liked Bret and wanted to give him credibility? I assume it wasn’t something he was strong-armed into doing, because I doubt you could do that with Piper. It just stands out so clearly as one of the very few times Piper was pinned clean in the middle of the ring, so I was wondering what the story was behind it. Thanks.

Piper was good friends with Bret and wanted to make him. Not much more to it than that.
