WWE Celebrates Success of Mask vs Mask Epic Between El Grande Americanos

The wrestling world is still buzzing over the Mask vs Mask match between El Grande Americano and Original El Grande Americano at Saturday night’s AAA Noche de los Grandes.

The match, featuring El Grande Americano defeating and unmasking Chad Gable, has been getting rave reviews from a large majority of the internet wrestling base. Variety reported on the match today, noting that it has racked up 2.24 million views in under four days between WWE’s English and Spanish YouTube accounts.

WWE has been very high on the match, spotlighting it throughout Monday’s episode of Raw before airing an encore presentation attached to the end of Monday’s broadcast. Raw itself has drawn a reported 2.5 million global views, adding the possibility of even more eyeballs seeing the historic match for the first time.

Blog of Doom’s own ace AAA reviewer Niz called the match “an absolute masterpiece of storytelling from start to finish.” Dave Meltzer noted it as “one of the better overall presentations that you’ll ever see.”
