Will Ospreay Taking A Break From AEW & ROH’s Mina Shirakawa Out With Broken Hand

Will Ospreay is taking a break from AEW, plus it was announced on last night’s Dynamite that the interim ROH Women’s TV Champion Mina Shirakawa suffered a broken hand at All In.

At All In on Saturday, Will Ospreay came out to assist “Hangman” Adam Page fend off The Death Riders during his world title match against Jon Moxley. However, Ospreay fell victim to a piledriver from Gabe Kidd, and then Claudio Castagnoli delivered a curb stomp to Ospreay after his head was placed between a steel chair. Ospreay was then stretchered out of the arena.

Fightful Select is now reporting that this angle was done for the same reason that a similar angle involving Samoa Joe being stretchered out was done, to allow Ospreay to take some time off. The report said that Ospreay had been working hurt for some time now and needed some time off to heal up. It is currently unknown when Ospreay will be back in action.

Who Is Joining Will Ospreay On The AEW Bench?

During last night’s episode of Dynamite, Athena interrupted a Toni Storm promo, who was delivering her victory speech after defeating Mercedes Mone at All In, and talked about winning the Gauntlet Match on the pay-per-view that earned her a shot at Storm’s title.

During Athena’s promo, she stated that Mina Shirakawa is out of her way, and later, Tony Schiavone elaborated on Athena’s comments, stating that Shirakawa suffered a broken hand during the Gauntlet Match. Shirakawa had just recently been crowned the interim ROH Women’s TV Champion at last Friday’s Supercard of Honor, as former champion Red Velvet was forced to vacate the title due to an injury.
