Then, Now, Forever, Together.
THIS is the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. Once the San Diego International Sports Arena, this building has been running events since 1966 and has hosted Vengeance 2001, Taboo Tuesday 2005, One Night Stand, last year’s Survivor Series and a sea of Raw and SmackDown episodes. Tonight, it is the home of Monday Night Raw, live on Netflix and presented by Wendy’s.
Here’s a look at the 946 vs Usos/Sikoa battle from last week and the shock reveal of Carmelo Hayes joining 946.
Arrivals! Roman Reigns, star of the #1 movie in the country, pulls up, followed by fellow world champion Sami Zayn.
Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn is first out in the arena tonight, introduced by the returning Alicia Taylor. The last time he came around to Raw, he lost his new Undisputed Championship to Cody Rhodes (who he is defending against in an advertised dark match after tonight’s show). The fan reactions to Sami are solid booing and chants for the OTC. He’s quickly interrupted by WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. Well, as quickly as Roman makes an entrance. There have been many times we never thought we’d see Roman and Sami standing together as world champions. Roman: “I didn’t think I’d be saying this and I might be the only one in here saying this, but it’s good to see you.” Sami gives Roman a hug and lights up that smile of his. Sami: “Could not feel more the same, brother!” Sami says that so much of what Roman told him as Tribal Chief he understands now. “THE BURDEN, OH MY GOD!” The disrespect! Roman gets his acknowledgement and Sami says nothing has changed.
Roman reminds Sami that this is his show but he has an opportunity for Sami, perhaps a favor. Roman says the title isn’t the most important title Sami has had, the most important title is Honorary Uce. “Are we here to discuss these titles or are we here to discuss the 946? Are you here out of greed or are you here out of love and are you here to serve the Bloodline?” The fans chant “Ucey.” Sami says now he is the head of his own table on SmackDown and he has to do things for himself. Sami calls out Roman on his arrogance, noting Roman always thinks his title is the A-title. Roman: “Maybe THAT title hasn’t meant shit since WrestleMania XL! THIS is the title now!” Sami says we aren’t minimizing his achievement and that while there are 8 billion people on the planet, only one is the WWE Champion. Sami tells Roman that he respects him but the most disrespectful thing is that Roman is standing two feet away from him and Roman is acting like he’s not even sweating him when Roman should know exactly what kind of threat he can pose. Roman: “I know exactly who you are. If I’m just being honest, if we’re looking at your track record, you might not even have that title by the time we get to Crown Jewel.” Roman drops the mic and heads off. Great, great promo for both men.
As Roman leaves, the music of Senor Dinero en el Banco Penta hits and he struts up to Roman, raising his briefcase and nodding. He runs into the ring and faces off with Sami as well. The threat of the cash-in lingers.
Tonight’s Made to Order Moment brought to you by Wendy’s is Je’Von Evans crashing through the WWE Slambulance and then Bron Breakker spearing him last week on Raw.
Senor Dinero en el Banco Penta vs WWE World Tag Team Champion Bron Breakker
These two last had a televised singles match on the June 23, 2025 Raw. This is the 103rd day of this reign of the World Tag Team Titles with zero televised defenses. Bron didn’t bring any Vision members with him which probably means Theory appears later and then Je’Von saves Penta. That’s my prediction. Bron German suplexes Penta and lays in stomps. Bron speeds through Penta with his running clothesline as the fans chant for Penta. Bron suplexes Penta again. Penta offers up a few chops in the corner and Bron spears him right down with a ground and pound as on-screen graphics remind us we get Hendry vs McDonagh, Gable vs Rey vs Lee and Rodriguez & Perez vs Green & Sky tonight. Penta slows Bron down with a backbreaker and knocks him to the floor, springing into his arms and Bron unable to catch him. Bron tosses Penta into the steel steps and then slings Penta onto the announce desk to send us to commercials for such fine services as Little Caesar’s and the WWE Mattel Slambulance (figures and ring sold separately). There’s a new Narnia apparently?
We come back to Bron and Penta battling on the second rope. Penta gets suplexed again. Penta nails his sternum stomp in the corner for a two as the fans chant for him again. Bron knocks Penta off the top rope and then tries for a superplex, Penta punching him down. Bron leaps back up and Frankensteiners Penta for a two. Bron lowers the straps and sets up the spear, Penta superkicking him and nailing the Penta Driver for a near fall. Maxxine Dupri and WWE World Tag Team Champion Austin Theory come out to distract, Penta superkicks Theory off the apron and Bron spears him mid-air for a two count. Alright, that was cool. Maxxine hops on the paron and Theory grabs the briefcase. Sure enough, here’s Je’Von Evans to nail Bron with the briefcase, giving Penta a chance to nail the Mexican Destroyer and cover for the pin.
Penta pins Bron Breakker. A good match with a predictable result. Still worth your watch.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett greet us from ringside and catch us up on what has been going on with Chelsea Green and the Judgment Day.
A Crown Jewel commercial mentions the glory of Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, a place where everything is going very peacefully.
Jackie Redmond catches up with the Tribal Chief. He says more and more people come after him every week. He tried to reach out to Sami and it didn’t work, so back to the drawing board. Roman rides off in his Jeep, ready to avoid any 946 nonsense.
WWE Women’s Chelsea Green and Iyo Sky vs The Judgment Day (WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez with WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan)
Joe is shocked by the development of Iyo coming out as Chelsea’s partner because he didn’t pay attention to the graphic aired earlier. Perez and Sky start it off. Hopefully this can start something up for Iyo who hasn’t been doing anything besides being the backstage comedy third for the Bayley-Valkyria stuff lately. Chelsea slaps Raquel and salutes her which doesn’t end well as Raquel slugs her to the mat. The crowd is very loud for Iyo as she tags in and Raquel dodges the Bullet Train and Liv wears Chelsea’s hat. Raquel yanks Iyo to the floor and swings her into the barricade.
After a commercial break for beloved WWE sponsors like ZepBound and KFC’s buckets, we return to Rox working over Iyo. Rox springboards into Iyo’s knees but gets the tag to Raquel to slow down Iyo’s attempt at a hot tag. Iyo delivers the big kick and Rox pulls Chelsea off the apron, denying the tag. Raquel almost boots Iyo’s head off and rolls her up for a two. Iyo rolls out of a Tejana Bomb, rolling Raquel into the standing stomp as the on-screen graphic again warns us that Hendry vs McDonagh is still to come. Chelsea gets the hot tag at last, dodging Raquel and tossing Rox to the mat. Rox rolls out of the Unprettier and kicks Chelsea down, tagging in Raquel. Chelsea knees the champ and Liv pulls Chelsea down as Perez distracts. Chelsea tags in Iyo and leaps outside onto Liv and Rox. Raquel snatches Iyo up and Iyo counters into a rollup for a three.
Iyo Sky and Chelsea Green defeat the Judgment Day when Iyo Sky pins Raquel Rodriguez. A pretty good match here too as we stumble towards Crown Jewel.
946 cut their weekly promo from wherever they might be. Carmelo Hayes steps in and tells us that he didn’t miss and Jaida reminds us that ain’t nobody safe.
JD McDonagh (with Dominik Mysterio) vs Joe Hendry (with Funko Pop McDonagh)
Judgment Day matches will continue until morale improves. You may remember that Hendry put out a WWE-produced album a few weeks ago. You may also remember that this feud has been going on for what feels like 38 years. Joe Tess is overjoyed at the appearance of Funko Pop McDonagh, giving us a level of “cool dad” enjoyment that even Michael Cole would applaud. JD attacks Hendry and chases the Funko Pop man around, running into a clothesline by Hendry. Dom grabs Joe Tess’s toy Funko Pop and JD tosses it as the Funko Pop McDonagh. Dom tries to clothesline Funko Pop Man, Funko Pop Man kicks Dom to the mat. Hendry leaps over onto both Judgment Day men and we go to break.
We come back to JD working over Hendry as the Funko man taunts him from the ramp. JD hooks a sleeper onto Hendry. Hendry backdrops his way out of it. Joe DDTs JD and gets a two count as Dom picks up Hendry’s guitar and slides it into the ring. Dom goes to distract the ref and Funko Man pulls Dom down, Hendry dropkicking him into the barricade. JD attacks and Joe grabs his guitar. JD kicks him and winds up the guitar, smashing it over the Funko Pop Man and crashing it through the head. The agony! In the ring, JD nails Joe with the flying headbutt and gets the pin.
JD McDonagh pins Joe Hendry. This was death, man. We’ve got to find ANYTHING better for Dirty Dom to be doing. RIP, Funko Pop McDonagh. Hopefully. They’ve beaten it into the ground in record time while also making it feel like it has been happening for six months.
Earlier today: Lyra Valkyria is being followed by Bayley. She nails someone who turns out to be Lola Vice, who yells for Lyra to meet her in the ring tonight.
Lola Vice vs Lyra Valkyria
Here’s a look back at Main Event where Bayley appeared and caused Lyra to lose to Sol Ruca. Lola hooks a quick armbar but can’t extend it, Lyra rolling her into a two. Lyra puts the pendulum on Lola and swings her around a bit before elbowing her in the chest. The brawl around and Lyra drops Lola on her knee on the outside to rush us to seven more commercials.
After John Cena tells us about the “perks” of Club WWE, we return to both women down. Lola powers up and peppers in kicks to Lyra. Lola nails Lyra with the corner ass attack and hooks on her second armbar, Lyra again rolling her into a pin attempt. Lyra scoops Lyra into a beautiful fisherwoman’s suplex (as called by Wade) for a two count. Lyra heads up top and Lola spin kicks her right in the stomach, covering for a two count. Lyra heads outside and Bayley grabs her leg from under the ring. The ref checks and doesn’t see Bayley who has snuck behind and grabbed Lyra’s hair instead. Lola dives onto Lyra and elbows the hell out of her in the ring with MIA for the pin.
Lola Vice pins Lyra Valkyria. This was fine. Glad we are getting some midcard women’s matches on Raw. Perhaps they can find a midcard women’s title to involve in them!
Lyra attacks Bayley and yells, “GET OUT OF MY LIFE! LEAVE!” Bayley backdrops Lyra into the timekeeper’s area and chases Lyra through the crowd. Bayley asks for a mic. “Hey Lyra! I told you I’m the one in control so me and you are going to finish this once and for all next week… in a no disqualifications match.”
Here’s a look at “Agent of Shadows,” premiering on ReelShort. I downloaded this app last Monday to explore it and I have literally 35 notifications now. Here’s a behind the scenes look at it featuring Joe Hendry, Hank, Tank, Ethan Page, Drew McIntyre, and of course Michael Hayes.
Stephanie Vaquer is getting her ankle checked and joined by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce. Becky Lynch comes in to taunt and ask for first crack at Liv. Becky suggests a #1 contender’s match when Stephanie is healed.
WWE Intercontinental Championship: WWE Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable vs Dragon Lee vs WWE Hall of Famer and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio
Chad Gable continues to be stuck in the circle of luchadors. Rey is the hometown boy. Chad is tossed out and the mentor and teacher battle. Lee sweeps the leg and drops the wrecking ball dropkick on Rey. Gable comes in and feels his own dropkick. Lee runs into Rey’s boot, Gable suplexes both men at the same time and we head to a break.
We return to Gable and Lee trading blows. Lee tries for a Styles Clash and Rey springboards in to stop it all. Rey ranas Lee down and tries on Gable as well, Gable locking in the ankle lock. Lee breaks it and gets in the hold instead. Rey leaps on Gable’s shoulders and tumbles him to the outside. Rey ends up on the announce desk and Lee goes to cannonball, being belly-to-bellied by Gable for a two count instead. Gable works Lee’s ankle. Lee yanks Gable to the outside and Rey flies onto Dragon with a West Coast Pop to the outside to send us to our picture-in-picture ad portion of the night.
As the commercials roll, the three men battle back into the ring and Gable tries to superplex Rey, only for Lee to knock Gable to the mat. Lee stomps Rey in the corner and Gable suplexes Lee into the opposite corner before moonsaulting into Lee’s boots and being set up for the 619. Rey also sets up Lee and 619s into their area, Lee dodging and Gable hooking the ankle. Lee ankle drops Gable and hits Rey with the Styles Clash, covering for a two count. The fans chant about the match being awesome as Rey swings Lee into a 619 spot again, nailing Gable with one before Lee. Rey frog splashes Lee and Gable breaks it up. Gable suplexes Rey into Lee’s arms, Rey rolls it into a DDT and springboards into Gable’s arms. Gable rolls Rey into a pin and gets the three.
Chad Gable pins Rey Mysterio to retain the WWE Intercontinental Title against Mysterio and Dragon Lee. A very good match as you’d expect. Worth your time!
Rey offers a handshake and a hug to Gable before they’re attacked by Ethan Page. Big Cass walks up behind Dragon Lee and chokeslams him onto the barricade. Page has found a new large friend and perhaps we’ve found a few non-lucha opponents for Gable.
Next week, Raw is in Fresno. We have Bayley vs Lyra in a No DQ match and that’s all we’re going to announce.
Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso have arrived, right on time at 10:07 for a show that ends at 10:20. They head to ringside, Jimmy with a chair and Jey with a bat and we head to one more commercial break. The fans chant for Jey to run it back and Jey says he can’t because he has business tonight. The Usos issue a warning shot and call 946 out. 946 (Royce Keys, Carmelo Hayes, Jaida Parker, Lucien Price and Bronco Nima) arrive through the crowd, Keys side-eyeing ever fan trying to touch him. Royce takes his spot atop the announce desk and asks for a mic. “When y’all dumb asses gonna learn? Ain’t nobody safe.” 946 surround the ring as Solo Sikoa and his leather suit arrives to yank Keys off the table. Solo tosses Hayes into Royce and joins his brothers int he ring. The Usos superkick OTM out and Jey dives onto Keys and Hayes while Jim dives on OTM. Solo rolls Keys in and calls for the spike until Melo attacks with the crowbar. 946 stomp down the Bloodline boys again and Jaida offers Keys a pair of handcuffs which he uses to taunt Solo.
The Tribal Chief’s music hits and Roman Reigns has returned, looking frustrated and confronting 946 at last. The Usos and Solo find their way to their feet and we have an eight-man standoff. The brawl is on and Keys takes a Superman Punch. Solo spikes Melo and the Usos toss Nimo into a massive spear. As the fans chant “OTC,” we end on 946 backing through the crowd and the Bloodline taunting from the corner.
Raw continues to be a good yet frustrating watch. The stuff surrounding Roman continues to intrigue and Sami was a nice addition tonight. It’s good to see Chelsea. Chad Gable’s Intercontinental Title continues to give us good matches and perhaps his part of the hamster wheel is finally spinning from “luchadors” to “Ethan Page.” Meanwhile, the hamster wheel with the men of the Judgment Day and the sporadic appearances of Joe Hendry feels like it is never-ending. An episode that is just “fine,” bookended by good talk and match segments with a bunch of filler in the middle. I think once we get beyond the mandatory Crown Jewel stuff, things will pick up.
Recommendations to watch: Roman/Sami promo, Penta vs Breakker, Gable vs Mysterio vs Lee, final segment
