So many words. Raw | NXT | Evolve Succession IV | Impact | Smackdown
AAA comes to Youtube this evening from Domo de la Feria Leon in Leon, Mexico. The announcing team for tonight’s show consists of Corey Graves, AAA GM and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, and John Bradshaw Layfield on match calls and analysis, and Jesus Zuniga on ring introductions. There’s a tag title defense on the show tonight, and the Reina de Reinas champion will be in the mix. It’s time, so let’s watch some lucha!
Arrivals: AAA Reina de Reinas Champion La Catalina, El Fiscal, El Mesias and Mecha Wolf, and AAA Tag Team Champions El Dinastia Wagner.
Here’s AAA Reina de Reinas Champion La Catalina out for a chat. Catalina talks about the long journey she had to take to achieve her dream, and she’s thankful for the crowd staying with her all the way. Catalina mentions beating the untouchable Flammer at TripleMania. Catalina says she sacrificed a lot along the way and she’s living proof that dreams can become reality. In terms of the roster, Catalina respects the history of all the previous champions, but there’s a new era now and Catalina wants to face the best of the best. Here’s Las Toxicas out as a group with Flammer the only one holding a microphone. Flammer makes fun of Catalina’s “new era” talk and says she must be confused, because Catalina’s victory was merely good luck on one night. Flammer reminds Catalina of her 1100 day-plus reign with the title and assures Catalina that her story is definitely not finished. Flammer vows to recover the title. Catalina mocks the 1100 day chat but wonders why Flammer must be the one to challenge when AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion La Hiedra is the only one in the group with gold currently. Catalina reminds Hiedra that Flammer never gave her a shot when she was champion, and wonders who’s the best between the two of them. Lady Maravilla steps in between Hiedra and Flammer and says she knows Catalina is trying to divide the group. Maravilla reminds everyone that they are 1,2,3, strong. Catalina, who’s now in the aisle, says that the GM needs to make a decision with who the next challenger will be.
Here’s some highlights of Penta winning the Men’s Money in the Bank match last weekend.
Here’s some highlights of the Street Fighter tour that stopped in Mexico City.
Here’s Flammer meeting with Rey Mysterio, and Mysterio tells her that he’ll make a decision before the show ends about what’s next for the Reina de Reinas championship.
El Fiscal vs Taurus
There’s some standing switches to start and they go to the mat for some grappling. They rise to start slugging it out, and Fiscal ends up trucking Taurus after some rope-running. Fiscal lifts a boot when Taurus charges, and then Fiscal ascends for a big cross-body. Taurus bails and Fiscal nails him with a tope suicida. Fiscal boots Taurus and then tries a springboard cross-body that Taurus side-steps. Taurus pounds away on Fiscal before dumping him back in. Taurus covers and gets two. Fiscal fires up with some rights but gets dumped into a top turnbuckle by Taurus when he charges. Taurus hits a meteora and follows with a lariat that gets two. Taurus works a side headlock and Fiscal fires up with some elbows. Fiscal fires off some shots and drops Taurus with a huge discus forearm. Fiscal drops the straps and clobbers Taurus with a reverse cross-body that gets two.
Taurus gets caught during a dropkick attempt and Fiscal slaps on an inverted Figure Four. Taurus makes the ropes to break the hold and Fiscal immediately follows with a kick to the head. Taurus tries a move over Fiscal’s back and seems to tweak his knee. While Tirantes is checking on Taurus, Abismo Negro charges down to attack Fiscal. Abismo hits a gutbuster that drops Fiscal, and Taurus fires off a senton that finishes things.
Fiscal’s never-ending feud with Los Vipers continues apace, and his specific beef with Abismo will seemingly continue, as well. This was decent for a quick hossy sprint. 2.5*
Winner – Taurus (Senton after Abismo Negro interference)
Post-match sees a pissed Fiscal grab a mic and say that Abismo is the lowest of the low and that his name does not belong to him. Fiscal challenges Absimo for Heroes Imortales to put an end to everything. Abismo seems fully uninterested in that and leaves.
Here’s La Hiedra lobbying Rey Mysterio and mentions that he’ll have a decision for her by the end of the night.
Here’s some chatter about the AAA representation in NXT’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, including the Wagners doing battle with Charles Dempsey and Lexis King on this coming Tuesday’s show.
Marisela Pena will be inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame at Heroes Imortales.
Here’s Rey Mysterio holding his quick chat with the “press”. Mysterio runs down the three-week card for Heroes Imortales and the main event for Night One is a AAA Mega Championship rematch between new champion El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio. There will be a TRIPLE THREAT for the Reina de Reinas title between champion La Catalina, La Hiedra, and Flammer!
AAA Tag Team Championship: El Dinastia Wagner (El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno) vs El Mesias and Mecha Wolf
As always, the Wagners entrance music remains incredible and untouchable. (Yes, I am aware of how great Mistico’s entrance theme is – I’m specifically talking AAA here.) DW3 starts with Mesias and DW3 trucks Mesias down with a forearm and drops a leg on Mesias’s knee. DW3 trips Mesias up and covers for one. Galeno tags in and he and DW3 drop Mesias with a double elbow that gets two. Galeno smashes Mesias in the Wagner corner with lariats and wallops him with a huge chop. DW3 tags in and yanks Mesias up but he slips off and Mecha grabs a blind tag. Mesias drops DW3 face-first onto the apron and Mecha follows with a huge tope that sends DW3 onto the announce desk. Mecha runs DW3 back in and starts pounding away along the ropes. Mesias grabs a quick cover for two.
Mesias hits a backbreaker and tags in Mecha. Mecha hits a vertical suplex and covers DW3 for two. Mecha pounds away at DW3 and dumps him out before tagging Mesias. Mesias yanks DW3 up and mashes him spine-first into the ring post. Mesias rolls DW3 back in and covers him for two. Mecha tags in and DW3 starts to fire up. Mecha gets dumped and DW3 clatters Mesias down with a high kick. DW3 cannot tag Galeno as Mecha yanks Galeno off the apron. Mecha ascends and dropkicks DW3 in the back into a Mesias facebreaker. Mesias tags in and DW3 finally fights his way out of danger before tagging Galeno. Galeno runs wild on Mecha and Mesias and his running splash on Mecha gets a long two. Mecha grabs a roll up and gets two, but Galeno yanks him up and DW3 grabs a blind tag. There’s some double-team work on Mecha and DW3 covers Mecha for two.
DW3 and Mesias square off and start firing off shots. Mesias tries to chop Galeno down and ends up driving him to the floor with a running knee. Galeno runs Mesias into the ring steps, and Mecha fires off a superkick on DW3. Mecha misses a charge and runs right into a Wagner Driver from DW3. Galeno gets a tag and hits a frog splash on Mecha. The champions retain.
Man, that was the best Mesias and Mecha have looked for awhile. This was very competitive and I appreciate the Wagners selling and giving the leyendas some major shine. If you like hoss tag team battles, this was your jam. 3*
Winners AND STILL AAA Tag Team Champions – El Dinastia Wagner (Galeno frog splash on Mecha Wolf)
Post-match sees Los Perros del Mal join the proceedings to attack the victorious Wagners. They square off, but Mesias and Mecha aren’t done and they attack the Wagners from behind. Here’s AAA Latin American Champion La Parka out with Nino Hamberguesa and Mr. Iguana out to fight Los Perros. There’s a gigantic brawl happening as the credits roll and everything will be ON THE LINE AT HEROES IMORTALES.
I didn’t have a ton of expectations for this week’s episode but the two matches were decent, we got a full picture of the Heroes Imortales card, and the main event post-match brawl was fun as hell. Go watch this show! It’s one of the best hours of wrestling every week.
Thanks for reading. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
