Becky Lynch Was Upset With Seth Rollins’ Fake Injury Ruse

Seth Rollins has admitted that Becky Lynch was an “unwilling participant” in his fake injury storyline.

On SummerSlam Saturday, CM Punk defeated Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship, his first WWE Title in over a decade. However, his celebrations didn’t last long as Seth Rollins came to the stage on his crutches. After exchanging words with Punk, The Visionary appeared to head backstage.

On his way, he stopped and threw away the crutches, revealing he had been faking his knee injury for the previous three weeks. He then ran to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. After attacking Punk with the briefcase, Rollins hit a Stomp and pinned him to win the gold.

Now, Rollins has revealed the pains he went through outside the ring to keep up the injury ruse. During an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, the new Champion said his wife, Becky Lynch, wasn’t pleased about keeping up the act.

“My wife is an unwilling participant in this ruse. She was very upset at me for making me lie to all of her friends and family for the better part of three weeks. She was very upset. I said, ‘Honey, just trust me, the payoff will be great.’

Seth Rollins also revealed that the couple’s daughter spilled the beans. After he explained he had a “pretend boo-boo,” she immediately told her preschool teacher. Fortunately for Rollins, the news didn’t get any further than that, and the payoff was “beautiful.”

“My daughter thought it was a game. She thought it was a fun little game. I told her, ‘Daddy has a pretend boo-boo for the next few weeks. Let’s keep that on the low.’ First thing she did was go and tell her preschool teacher, Ms. Joy, immediately. Then, she had to tell me she told Ms. Joy and gave me the classic, ‘Na-na-boo-boo, I told Ms. Joy.’ I’m like, ‘How am I supposed to live my life? How am I supposed to get this through. Focus. Kayfabe, young Roux, kayfabe.’

“Here we are, three weeks later, nobody went to the dirt sheets or the news. Thank you, Roux, thank you, Ms. Joy. It was an honor and a pleasure. The payoff was more beautiful than I could have expected.”

“It Was Excruciating” – Seth Rollins On Using Crutches

Continuing, Seth Rollins spoke about the struggle he had using crutches when he was out in public. The pain got to the point where he thought he might suffer a legitimate injury while trying to keep up the act.

“Limping around on those crutches for three weeks was excruciating. That was painful. I went to the gym, I took my daughter to the beach for ice cream, I dropped her off at the preschool, I went for a nice steak dinner with my wife, Bianca Belair, and Montez Ford with the crutches.

“I did it all on crutches. It was excruciating. The crutches alone were painful. I thought I was going to get a shoulder injury, a real one, get surgery and go to Birmingham legit. I was getting irritable, my wife was putting up with me being grumpy. It was a tough one, but we pulled through and did it. For the greater good.”

On the August 4th edition of Raw, Rollins defended the title against LA Knight with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed banned from ringside. The bout descended into chaos when CM Punk attacked Rollins, causing a DQ. The attack led to Reed and Breakker getting involved, followed by Roman Reigns.

After taking out Punk and Knight, Rollins’ group launched a vicious assault on Reigns, leaving him unconscious after a Stomp, a Spear, and three Tsunamis.
