AJ Lee To Return To The Ring At WWE Wrestlepalooza
By Conor Renshaw on 3 September 2025
It has been reported that WWE is planning to bring AJ Lee back to the wrestling ring at the upcoming Wrestlepalooza pay-per-view.
After CM Punk teased his wife’s potential return to the WWE on Monday’s episode of Raw, after Becky Lynch got involved in his match against Seth Rollins, LA Knight and Jey Uso at Clash in Paris last Sunday, it has now been reported that AJ Lee will be in a mixed tag match with Punk against Rollins and Lynch at Wrestlepalooza on September 20.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer posted on Twitter via a subscription post last night that the match is planned for the upcoming pay-per-view. If this is true, this would be the first time Lee has competed in over ten years, as her last match took place on March 30, 2015, when she teamed with Naomi and Paige to defeat the team of Natalya and Nikki and Brie Bella.
Lee also served as a producer and colour commentator for the WOW (Women of Wrestling) promotion from 2021 until 2023.
Why Do People Believe AJ Lee Is Returning To WWE?
Speculation about Lee’s return to wrestling has been mounting since the finish of the Punk vs. Rollins vs. Knight vs. Uso match at Clash in Paris, where Becky Lynch delivered a low blow to Punk to allow Rollins to hit the Stomp and retain his title.
On the following Raw, Lynch and Punk had a heated promo battle that ended with Lynch slapping Punk, who then warned her that she would regret laying hands upon him. In a backstage segment with Raw GM Adam Pearce after the promo, Punk, who was hunting for Rollins and Lynch backstage, spoke to Pearce and asked him where the next SmackDown was happening, and when Pearce replied, “Chicago, home sweet home,” Punk chuckled and simply said, “tremendous,” before walking off.
These segments on Raw have led fans to believe Lee will return on Friday’s episode of SmackDown to set up the mixed tag match.
What do you think about AJ Lee possibly wrestling at Wrestlepalooza? Do you think it’s too soon to have her wrestle after just over two weeks back after over ten years away? And if she does wrestle, will this be a one-and-done situation, or will she be back on a more full-time basis?
