–To kick off the “new fall season” of Monday Night RAW the company abandons the intro that RAW used for the better part of two and half years and replaces it with an introduction of wrestlers battling on the top of Titan Towers in Connecticut. The highlight is Shawn Michaels dancing atop a platform and then diving on top of Kama. Later footage from this opening would be used for D-Generation X’s Titantron video in 1997.

–Since this is the new fall season, Superstars gets a new theme song for the first time in more than a year, with it being a knockoff of the Monday Night Football theme asking “Are you ready?” The funny thing with an intro like this is that half the talent in it had quit or was released by January 1996 so they had to redo the lyrics, all of which were tied to a specific superstar.

Since Monday Night RAW was pre-empted for the U.S. Open on USA Network, there were some matches that aired on the Saturday morning WWF Mania show. Those contests were taped in Worcester, Massachusetts in mid-August. Here were the results of those bouts:

The Undertaker pledges to take Tatanka out to send a message to the Million Dollar Corporation and Kama.

This is the “go home” show for SummerSlam and it the last to feature the old RAW opening that has been a staple for more than a year since the company would have a new one when they returned after the U.S. Open.
