–Gordon Solie, Larry Zbyszko, and Dusty Rhodes are calling the action and they are still taped from Gainesville, Georgia.
–A recap of Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel suspending Hulk Hogan until Uncensored and Vader and Ric Flair’s antics on WCW Saturday Night are shown.
–Opening Contest: Alex Wright (19-0) pins Romeo Cassanova after a reverse flying body press at 2:58:
Wright defeated Romeo’s tag team partner, Dino Cassanova, a few weeks ago on Saturday Night. Dusty makes fun of Romeo’s name, attempting to distract the audience when things fall apart after Cassanova gets up too late for Wright’s finisher, forcing the German babyface to do a flying axe handle and then perform the reverse flying body press shortly thereafter for his twentieth win of the year.
–A video package hypes the Steiner Brothers.
–Gene Okerlund does the Uncensored Report. WCW Champion Hulk Hogan says fans are calling his hotline wanting to know what the “ultimate” surprise will be at Uncensoredand how badly he will whip Vader in their strap match. A man does some weak screaming off the screen and Hogan urges Jimmy Hart to keep the man off camera, noting that the man stinks because he has been kept in a room before Uncensored.
–Call 1-900-909-9900 to hear more about the “ultimate” surprise. Is someone from “the dark side” coming to help Hogan at Uncensored?
–Dustin Rhodes (10-1) defeats Lieutenant James Earl (0-1) after a bulldog at 4:48:
Dusty screams about how good Dustin is and how Commissioner Bockwinkel needs to let him get some more title shots. Dustin towers over Earl and it makes him look incredibly weak not to be able to put away one of the members of the State Patrol in quick fashion. Another finish is botched on today’s show as Earl forgets to take the bulldog when trying to do a hiptoss so they have to redo the spot to put Rhodes over. Rating: DUD
–A replay of Johnny B. Badd knocking out Arn Anderson during Anderson’s match with Alex Wright on WCW Saturday Night last week is shown.
–The Blacktop Bully (w/Colonel Robert Parker) (11-0) beats Kenny Kendall via submission to the Breaker 1-9 at 2:46:
As is usually the case, the Bully does some long wok on the arm before slapping on the Breaker 1-9. At least it is impossible to botch that move.
–Non-Title Match: Harlem Heat (WCW Tag Team Champions w/Sister Sherri) (13-0-1) defeat Kip Abee & Mark Thorn when Booker T pins Abee after the Heatseeker at 2:07:
Poor Booker T cuts a promo into one of the ringside cameras but fans miss it because the WCW production team switches to the hard camera too soon. The Heat do some basic offense, largely centered on strikes and clotheslines, before picking up a win. After the match, Sherri looks into the camera and lets the Nasty Boys that if they want the WCW tag titles they can come and get them.
–The announcers discuss the Lord Steven Regal-Bobby Eaton match that will air tonight on WCW Saturday Night. A video package replays their interaction on last week’s Saturday Night telecast.
–The Patriot (0-1) pins Bobby Eaton (3-5) with a small package at 7:11:
Zbyszko portrays the telecast as live, saying that Eaton is taking on a major challenge by facing the Patriot in the morning and Regal later in the day. The energy of this bout is low, as rest holds dominate with a few small spirts of action in between. It does have a good finish, though, as Eaton tries to spam his backbreaker off the ropes and the Patriot cradles him – because he learned from the maneuver earlier – for the win. So WCW books Eaton in a feature match on Saturday Night and does not put him over against a tag team competitor? Rating: ½*
The Last Word: If the Hulk Hogan promo during the Uncensored Report was supposed to sell fans, it did the opposite because it was clear that the “ultimate” surprise was not going to be the Ultimate Warrior. Aside from that, this was another episode of WCW Pro that went off the rails with some dreadful squashes and a poor feature match.
