Styles successfully defended the X-Division Championship against David Young, and just minutes later, came out with Jerry Lynn as replacements for the brutally assaulted James Storm and Chris Harris to defeat the Rainbow Express and win the Tag Team Titles! Also on the show, Buff Bagwell called himself a loser for losing to two guys like Bruce and Lenny and is going home, Brian Christopher turned on Scott Hall because REASONS, and Ken Shamrock successfully defended the NWA World Heavyweight Title against Malice, who we’ve quickly found out only exists to eat losses in high profile situations.

Styles was crowned the first X-Division Champion in a spectacular match featuring Jerry Lynn, Low-Ki and Psicosis. The rest of the show was mostly forgettable to miserable stuff. Scott Hall and Brian Christopher defeated Jeff Jarrett and K-Krush in singles matches with the same finish of “celebrity pal of the babyface blatantly interferes”, Taylor Vaughn was crowned Miss TNA, and Malice laid out Ken Shamrock, declaring his intentions to capture the NWA World Heavyweight Title. I promise, the show wasn’t as exciting as I’m making it.

Presented on Pay-Per-View on June 26th, 2002, this episode was taped immediately following their premiere on June 19th from Huntsville, AL. We quickly recap the events of that show, featuring Jeff Jarrett being the obnoxious heel on top of the promotion, Jeff Jarrett interrupting Toby Keith’s performance for easy heat, Jeff Jarrett being unfairly eliminated from the Gauntlet for the Gold by a non-competitor, and Jeff Jarrett having a pull-apart brawl with Scott Hall to end the broadcast. Oh, and Ken Shamrock won the NWA World Heavyweight Title.

The XWF couldn’t get a TV deal, and World Wrestling All-Stars were putting out PPV’s to mixed reactions, so we’ll let Jeff and Jerry Jarrett try their luck running a promotion, running PPV every week on Wednesday for $9.95. If you ordered any of those WWA PPV’s, you’ll see a lot of talent featured on both shows, since there’s only so many “names” out there that were available and interested.
