The Doomies – 2025 Final Vote

By Niz on 3rd January 2026

It’s time for the FINAL VOTE in the 2025 Doomie Awards.

I have tallied all the votes that were received in the Nomination Phase and compiled them into a top 3 (or 4 in a couple cases, due to ties) in each category. You’ll be able to vote once in this next phase, and you’ll be able to choose your winner in each of the categories. The answers are not required so if you choose to skip a category for whatever reason, that’s your choice.

The Doomies – 2025 Nomination Process

By Niz on 18th December 2025

It’s Doomies season, so let’s get it moving, shall we?

Okay, so a quick refresh on how this all works is probably in order. This process happens in two stages. The first stage is the nominations for candidates, and the second phase is voting on the top three candidates that get put forth in each category. Basically, you have a say in who the final candidates will be as your top three choices in each category will be assigned five points for a first place nom, three for a second place nom, and one for a third place nom. I’ll do the counting work, and then on January 2nd 2026 we’ll begin the formal voting process to determine the winners based on the choices that get the most points during the nomination process.

During this first phase, you can put nominations forth in two ways. The first way is to simply write a comment on this post with your choices in each category (you don’t have to vote in every category if you don’t want to, you can pick and choose if you feel strongly about some but not that strongly about others – it’s cool.) The second way is to send an email to [email protected] with your choices listed there. The nomination process will end on December 30th 2025, and as mentioned above, we’ll start the voting for winners on January 2nd.

2024 Doomies Results

By Phrederic on 28th January 2025

The Doomies have been totaled and calculated, I’m trying to find a way to convert a Google Quiz into a shareable document that doesn’t dox all the voters, but if you have questions about it, email me at [email protected] and I’ll do what I can to answer your questions, well, enough nonsense, here are the results.

2024 Doomies Nomination Process

By Phrederic on 13th January 2025

Hello all, it is time for the 2024 Doomies, well, two weeks ago was probably time but this is when we’re getting them. If you have not done this before, or if you just don’t remember how we do it, it is a two-tiered voting process where we determine the best of and worst of for the previous year. The first step is to determine a list of nominees and then the second part will be voting for those nominees.

By Scott Keith on 16th January 2024

Hey Scott,

So with Logan indisposed I have decided to take over responsibility (with his permission!) to do the Doomies this year, he was kind enough to share it on his post but I figure we might get some more eyeballs in this email.

Please rank your top three choices in the following categories below and email them to [email protected] with your Blog handle attached or post them in the chat below. Remember this is just the nominations, afterwards I’ll compile the top three in every category and put up a final vote.

Here were the results of the 2022 Doomies:

2022 Ninth Annual Doomie Awards Nominations Poll!

By LScisco on 10th January 2023

As has been the custom for the last eight years, early January signals the time for the Doomies, where the Blog votes on and bestows honors to the best and worst of professional wrestling in 2022.

This year’s voting will follow last year’s.  There will be a 6-day period of nominations for all categories, which will be tabulated with the traditional formula of a first place vote getting 5 points, a second place vote 3 points, and a third place vote 1 point.  After tabulating nominations, the top 5 will then be moved to a winner take all voting process on a Google Form where people will vote for one of the nominees.  That voting process will take 5 days.

A friendly reminder that “Commenter of the Year” is not a writer award but for any of your favorite people to talk to in the comments section of the Blog.  Another reminder that traditionally if a company does a “brand split” that the brands are considered separate promotions.

Additional voting information is included after a brief history of the awards:

Eighth Annual Doomie Awards Nominations Poll!

By LScisco on 6th January 2022

As has been the custom for the last seven years, early January signals the time for the Doomies, where the Blog votes on and bestows honors to the best and worst of professional wrestling in 2021.

This year voting will be different than previous years.  There will be a 10 day period of nominations for all categories, which will be tabulated with the traditional formula of a first place vote getting 5 points, a second place vote 3 points, and a third place vote 1 point.  After tabulating nominations, the top 5 will then be moved to a winner take all voting process on a Google Form where people will vote for one of the nominees.  That voting process will take a week.  The new process will a few extra days, but should produce a greater consensus around a winner, something that has not happened in some categories over the years.

Another change is that there will be a “Men’s Wrestler of the Year” category.  There will still be an overall category of “Wrestler of the Year,” which can include votes for men’s and women’s wrestlers.  Previous Wrestler of the Year winners will be grandfathered in as winners of the “Men’s Wrestler of the Year” category.

And again, a reminder that “Commenter of the Year” is not a writer award but for any of your favorite people to talk to in the comments section of the Blog.  Another reminder that traditionally if a company does a “brand split” that the brands are considered separate promotions.

Additional voting information is included after a brief history of the awards:

2020 Doomie Results

By LScisco on 19th January 2021

After allowing for a two week voting period, the 2020 Doomie Awards have been decided.

This year saw a marked increase in voting over the previous year, with a record seventy-eight ballots submitted.  That more than tripled last year’s voting, which saw twenty-three ballots cast.  So thanks to everyone for voting (and for several of the Doomie campaigns for raising awareness).

2019 Doomie Results

By LScisco on 11th February 2020

After a bit of a delay this year, the Blog of Doom has cast its votes for the best (and worst) wrestlers and moments of 2019.

I included the top three finishers for each category below, but if you wish to see the entire spreadsheet and how many first place, second place, and/or third place a choice received, go to this link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dPd4rA6KXV15NYX5NdTJ7-hcrCTqpfCO/view?usp=sharing

Keep in mind that not all voters cast a ballot with three choices for each category and some voters did not vote for certain categories (everyone voted for Wrestler of the Year, though).  Participation in Doomie voting was down for the second straight year, with twenty-three ballots cast versus thirty-nine last year (and fifty-three two years ago).

Sixth Annual Doomie Awards Poll

By LScisco on 1st February 2020

I hope that everyone is having a great Super Bowl weekend.  After getting through a busy January, the Doomies are taking place a little later than previous years but we will hold them again to measure the best and worst of the wrestling world.  Ballot information is included after the jump.

We will be debuting some new categories this year per people’s requests from last year.  These will include votes for best/worst commentator, a new category for best Blog column that is not written by Scott (although Scott’s columns are still eligible for Column of the Year), and a renaming of the “Poster of the Year” category to “Commenter of the Year” because there was confusion over the last few years about whether the former referred to people who post columns here.  Voting information is included after a brief history of the awards:

2018 Doomie Results

By LScisco on 16th January 2019

Last week the blog cast its votes for the top (and worst) wrestlers and moments of 2018.  The voting deadline passed on Friday and all of the votes have been counted.  Remember, a first place vote was worth five points, a second place vote was worth three points, and a third place vote was worth one point.  In case of a tie, number of first place votes was used to break it.

I included the top three finishers for each category below, but if you wish to see the entire spreadsheet and how many first place, second place, and/or third place a choice received, go to this link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q7sBC5tgWqchIV7HYABgVtIPwvJ8gVnO/view?usp=sharing

Keep in mind that not all voters cast a ballot with three choices for each category and some voters did not vote for certain categories (everyone voted for Wrestler of the Year, though).  Participation in Doomie voting was down this year, with thirty-nine ballots cast versus fifty-three last year.  Voter were also more uniform in their selections, with fewer candidates being nominated/receiving votes than previous years. Winners can be found below.
