Report: New details on Shawn Michaels and Bruce Prichard’s WWE futures

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding potential changes to WWE’s creative leadership following WrestleMania 43 in 2027. PWInsider initially reported that Bruce Prichard was expected to step down as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent and remain as a consultant, with Shawn Michaels potentially replacing him. However, Fightful Select cited WWE sources disputing Michaels’ reported appointment and suggested Prichard could instead transition to remote work while preparing for neck surgery.

Fightful also reported that AJ Styles could gain greater influence in talent scouting, while Bobby Roode has been considered for an expanded creative role. A subsequent update indicated that PWInsider’s original reporting is now believed to be more accurate; although no changes are expected before WrestleMania 43, no definitive timetable has been established, and the situation remains subject to change.

AJ Styles WWE Backstage Role Clarified In New Report

AJ Styles has reportedly become a regular presence at the WWE Performance Center following his retirement after facing GUNTHER at the 2026 Royal Rumble. According to Fightful Select, sources have described Styles as a positive influence who has taken an active interest in working with developing talent. However, reports suggesting he has been running the Performance Center were denied, with speculation potentially stemming from an occasion when he stepped in to finish a class.

Styles is also expected to gain greater influence within WWE’s talent scouting department as he transitions into a backstage role. Meanwhile, Bobby Roode has reportedly been considered for an expanded position similar to those held by WWE executives Bruce Prichard and Michael Hayes.
