WrestleMania III Intercontinental Championship Belt Sells For Record $716,750
The WWF Intercontinental Championship belt Ricky Steamboat won from Randy Savage at WrestleMania III sold for a record-breaking $716,750 at Heritage Auctions on Saturday, October 24. The final price, which included a 22% buyer’s premium on the winning bid of $587,500, makes it the most expensive wrestling championship belt ever sold at auction. Previous owner Conrad Thompson celebrated the sale on social media, writing, “We set a record! Thank you!”
The previous record belonged to Hulk Hogan’s WWF Championship belt from WrestleMania 2, which sold for $414,800 in August. However, Hogan still holds the overall wrestling memorabilia record: his boots from the first WrestleMania sold for $1,037,000 earlier this year, becoming the first wrestling item to surpass $1 million at auction.
Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns’ Street Fighter suffers steep second-weekend box office drop
Street Fighter, featuring WWE stars Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in prominent roles, suffered a significant decline during its second weekend at the domestic box office. According to Deadline, the film earned about $8.6 million, down 72% from its $31 million opening weekend and to fourth place. Warner Bros.’ Clayface topped the box office with a $24 million debut, followed by You Can See Everything with $19.5 million and Wildwood with $11.6 million.
Despite Street Fighter slipping down the rankings, Deadline reported that Clayface’s success helped the combined Warner Bros./Paramount Skydance company surpass $1 billion in annual box office revenue, joining Universal, Disney, and Sony in reaching the milestone.
AEW’s Jeff Jarrett Defends CMLL Appearance
WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett has responded to criticism of his appearance at CMLL’s 93rd Aniversario event on September 18, where he lost to Blue Panther in under nine minutes. On his My World podcast, Jarrett acknowledged the negative online reaction but insisted the live Arena Mexico crowd enjoyed the match. He explained that he deliberately limits his wrestling appearances, choosing opportunities that interest him rather than maintaining a regular schedule.
Jarrett also accepted that some fans will never support his continued involvement in wrestling, regardless of his performances. The event marked his first televised match at Arena Mexico, placing him among a select group of wrestlers to have performed at Arena Mexico, Madison Square Garden, Wembley Stadium and the Tokyo Dome.
