FMW Making Of A New Legend IV 10.29.99 DirecTV PPV

By Maffew Gregg on 19 October 2025

Korakuen Hall
Attendance 2,150

Previously In FMW…

We head to the biggest show of the year (in theory) with tonight’s big attraction being ANUS EXPLOSION.

Anus Explosion Match

H vs. “Hayabusa”

H heads out smiling with a firework as he explains this match goes back to their student days when him and Gannosuke would stick fireworks up their arse and set them off during those cold winter nights. This is what we did before Tiktok. He gets serious which is the absolute wrong tone for a gimmick like this while he’s dressed as a rentboy but thankfully “Hayabusa” interrupts and attacks him while still in his robe.

“Hayabusa” gets sent outside so H attacks him with a plancha, thankfully proving he can still do high flying. They brawl quietly around the ringside area with none of the intensity of their previous matches. H takes a slam on the concrete for two but dives off the bleachers with a forearm. Thankfully H continues the Hayabusa style offence in the ring with both men going through some clean exchanges, with both men no-selling German suplexes to send one another outside. Crowd are still not vibing, probably looking forward to the finish rather than the action. It is kind of distracting.

H takes a wild Praying Powerbomb on the concrete which should end any match. Gannosuke doesn’t go for the pin though, instead choosing to handcuff H and set him up in the corner. The ref gets shoved away for the apparent DQ, with Gannosuke lighting the firecracker and we get the moment your parents walk into the room at 9:32.

Oh apparently this went to a no contest because “Hayabusa” used a firework in the match and the stipulation was the loser got it done to them? Yes they booked a No Contest for an ANUS EXPLOSION match.

H is left in the corner awkwardly for a few minutes with the crowd murmuring amongst themselves as you’re left wondering what the tone is supposed to be here. I think it’s supposed to be serious but c’mon now. Eventually H is uncuffed but it would have been funnier if they’d left him there the whole night.

The match itself was so far below their usual level that it makes sense for them to be using different gimmicks as they can deny being involved.

Yoshinori Sasaki vs. Naohiko Yamazaki

Oh fuck me, again? This is their 11th singles match this year. Sasaki lands a really cool spinning chokeslam to end it at 13:13 like he always does. Yeah great, now beat someone with value.

Arai attempts to punish “Hayabusa” but Fuyuki I think says he can’t do anything cos he’s commish so shut up, piss boy.

Handicap Match

Kaori Nakayama & Emi Motokawa vs. Miss Mongol

Mongol dodges a double dropkick but walks into a double bulldog. Fast paced action continues while no-one cares. The women’s division is like the 205 live of FMW now. Emi attempts to louden the crowd by yelling loudly and landing a dozen dropkicks in ten seconds. A very fast sunset flip gets “ooos” until Mongol gets back on offence as the crowd shuts up again. Not a good sign when the wrestlers with the advantage are getting more support. A lot of action occurs very quickly but it’s the wrong crowd for it. Emi’s top rope Frankensteiner is really fast but can’t end the match, before Jazz and Malia Hosaka show up to even the odds and help Mongol land her back senton to win at 4:17. I’m pretty sure this only happened because they’re getting Jazz in a match for the big show, otherwise the only way FMW would feature women on their shows currently is if they’re doing dodgy sex.

Hido vs. Tarek Pasca

Hido is still doing his silly karate gimmick while he recovers from a neck injury. Wait is that IWA-MS great Tarek The Great? What the hell is he doing here? And will anyone reading this know who that is?

Probably not. But he makes one appearance here and then re-appears in 2000 and 2001. He wouldn’t wrestle for any other companies in Japan so I’m speechless as to why he was flown over for just this.

Oh and to make it even weirder, Willie Williams is his second. As in Willie “fought Inoki in 1980” Williams. He says if Hido wants to fight him, he has to get through Tarek. Willie and Tarek being a team is making me lose my mind, especially because young Tarek looks older than him.

Both wrestlers are wearing boxing gloves so Hido instantly starts kicking Tarek who can’t protect himself as I think we’re doing a parody of Takada vs. Berbick. The crowd are really into it as Tarek bounces around. Tarek gets a clue and responds with his own kicks, with Hido ducking a spinning one before finishing with German Suplexes executed as well as you can while wearing boxing gloves. Finally a lariat ends it at 1:57.

Williams tells Hido he looks forward to seeing him in Yokohama. That match ended up being wank because it was too serious but here in a silly and brief setting it was perfectly acceptable dumb fun that didn’t overstay it’s welcome. So FMW can sometimes get this Entertainment Wrestling thing down correctly.

Three On One Handicap Match, Special Guest Referee Ricky Fuji

Gedo vs. Flying Kid Ichihara & Chocoball Mukai & Sena Wakana

Two handicap matches in one night? Yeah OK TLC 2013. Fuji hates Team No Respect so this isn’t fair to Gedo but he instantly grabs Sena to remind us he’s a creep and deserves this. The good guys do the M-Pro spot where they all pose on top of Gedo, with Sena standing directly on his back which is impressive. Gedo pushes her outside so Kid goes to attend his lifeline. Meanwhile Chocoball does some basic sequences with Gedo and the crowd go wild for it for porn related reasons. Match slows down so much that the production zooms in for Sena’s breasts for a while. Keep it classy.

Fuji doesn’t appreciate Gedo ignoring his instructions so he gives him a Kamikaze. He still counts normally for Kid because he has integrity. Wait no he doesn’t. Chocoball tags in and throws some fairly brutal kicks at Gedo’s face. Butterfly cradle is applied but doesn’t end the match even though it’s his big finish cos Sena has to come in and apply something resembling a Stretch Plumb. Gedo dislikes that and makes a comeback, shrugging off Chocoball’s terrible punches to smash a chair over the lads. This leaves him alone with Sena so she gets a headbutt and a foot on the chest for the reluctant pin from Fuji at 7:40.

Like the rest of the show, this was a bunch of odd things at once that was reasonably entertaining but also didn’t advance a hell of a lot or help anybody.

Iron Confinement Cage Death Match

Masato Tanaka & Tetsuhiro Kuroda & Hisakatsu Oya & Ricky Fuji vs. Kodo Fuyuki & Kintaro Kanemura & Koji Nakagawa & Jado

To clarify, it’s not a cage match there’s a BJW style Iron Confinement cage at ringside. Anyway we get Oya’s amazingly relaxing entrance so Kuroda shows up on a motorcycle again to look cool.

Oh with everyone in the ring, Fuyuki and Tanaka sign the contract for their Yokohama match. But Fuyuki removes the stipulation that Tanaka has been dealing with these past few months which is if he loses, he’s fired. Instead he changes it to the loser of the fall is fired, which is an odd thing if you think about it too much. Anyway the table is thrown in Tanaka’s face to start the match and the mandatory brawl around the hall.

Kuroda lands a lariat on Jado almost instantly while Tanaka whips Fuyuki into the shark cage. Oya and others fight around it like dudes in the Rumble slowly leaning against the ropes. It’s not thrilling but luckily Fuji gets his arse out to land a tope to the fan’s delight because it’s been an hour since we saw one of them. Tanaka and Kanemura bust out their usual big bumping moves in the ring to remind us this is actually a main event. Fuyuki somehow sneaks up on Tanaka to land a Yelling Lariat. Oya wrangles Fuyuki into an Abominable Stretch before somehow dropping him with a backdrop driver and not killing him. Fuyuki smashes Tanaka in the face with a chair to bust him wide open as Kanemura presses his fat fingers into the forehead to push the blood out. Kanemura’s a dick.

Match slows down to everyone working over Tanaka while we’ve gone back to normal tags. Tanaka naturally takes a man-sized amount of offence but crowd are reluctant to get behind him because they know he can’t feel pain. Fuji gets shoved into the cage and held in until the door can be shut. Oh then Arai’s niece takes the opportunity to spray him with a super soaker. Kuroda gets dog collared to the ring post while Oya is tied with rope which leaves Fuyuki and Tanaka alone into the middle of the ring to bite one another. That’s a lot of barely disguised fetishes. Kanemura realises it’s a late 90s cage match so someone has to jump off it and that someone is him.

Tanaka refuses to be put away by Fuyuki’s moves so everyone else in TNR takes over instead. Tanaka takes a lariat onto his own head which is of course enough to motivate him to take out all of TNR single-handidly. After everyone runs into Tanaka to take an elbow from him, Fuyuki no-sells one on him to lariat Tanaka that he lands on his head again and I guess that resets him enough to be pinned at 17:58.

Less of a main event or gimmick match and more about adding heat to Tanaka vs. Fuyuki. Successful in that regard but you can also easily skip this.

Oh then “Hayabusa” walks out to throw a bin at Fuyuki as he’s apparently gone crazy now as he’s unsure if he’s Hayabusa, Gannosuke or a dude playing a dude playing another dude. H in street clothes (still looking slutty) runs out to batter him leading to these two brawling in all of the stands and scaring as many fans possible. H slams one of the commentators because he’s in the way, leading to actual police arriving to separate the two as the crowd watch in awed silence. OK that was an effective angle that could have worked better if we hadn’t focused on arses & fireworks earlier.

Overall: It’s cute seeing FMW doing WWF stuff. It’s like those Japanese nerds that love dressing up as cowboys. This was all about setting up the big show next month so was essentially an episode of Raw or Smackdown, but one of those ones that focused on Beaver Cleavage or Legion Of Doom Droz.

In Other News…

Steve Williams has been fired from WWF because FMW requested him for their Yokohama show. WWF said yes on his behalf, Williams said “uuuh no, i’m loyal to Baba” so he was released for disobeying. In fairness, WWF were probably looking for a reason to get rid of him post-Brawl For All. He’d wrestle for AJPW for years after this so the man had a point.

Onita is told by his doctor he can’t wrestle for six months and should probably retire. I’m sure he’ll listen.

Next Week: Me and Mike Fitz already covered the FMW 10th Anniversary show which you can read here in all it’s “oh god oh shit oh fuck” glory.

So instead it’s the month after that, with H & Mr. Gannosuke challenging for the WEW Tag Titles! They’re friends now. Eh, it’ll make sense when you read it.
