Cody Rhodes Wins WWE Title & Brock Lesnar Returns To Lay Out John Cena At SummerSlam

Cody Rhodes recaptured the Undisputed WWE Championship last night at SummerSlam night 2 by defeating John Cena after a long, hard-fought battle. After the match, Rhodes and Cena shared a heartfelt moment, and after Rhodes left and Cena was about to leave after soaking in the applause from the fans, Brock Lesnar made his return after nearly 2 years away to lay out Cena with an F-5.

Triple H On Brock Lesnar’s Return At WWE SummerSlam: ‘Incredible To Have Him Back’

In more Brock Lesnar return news, Triple H has commented on “The Best Incarnate” and his return to WWE and said that he knew the reaction would be massive and that having Lesnar back is “incredible” and that having him in the mix again changes the dynamic of the product as Lesnar is “unpredictable”. Triple H said that having Lesnar face John Cena is part of Cena’s “wishlist” for his retirement and that Cena pushed for Lesnar’s return so he could face him on his retirement tour.

Dustin Rhodes Set To Miss Major Time After AEW Angle

Dustin Rhodes is set to be away from AEW for a while after he was written off TV after his TNT Title match against Kyle Fletcher on last Thursday’s episode of Collision after Fletcher delivered a chair shot to Rhodes’ leg that was wrapped around the ring post. Rhodes dropped the title to Fletcher in the main event last Thursday and took to X on Saturday to let fans know he will be undergoing “invasive major surgery” and will be out of action for a while.

Top WWE Star Expected To Take More Time Off

Roman Reigns is also expected to be out of the ring for a while, but not for injury-related reasons like Dustin Rhodes; he is instead expected to take time away following his tag team win at night 1 of SummerSlam, where he and Jey Uso defeated Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Reigns is expected to be away from WWE for at least until after Survivor Series, which is happening in late November, as he is heading to Australia to begin filming his role in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, where Reigns will play the villainous Akuma. The production is reportedly slated to start filming in September.
