After the now-traditional WWE opening, there is a video package narrated by Rey Mysterio Jr that focuses on the acquisition of AAA by WWE and all the major events since that have lead to today’s card.
The voice of Corey Graves welcomes us to Los Angeles and to the show. Walk-ups include Rey Mysterio Jr, Stephanie Vaquer and Lola Vice, Chad Gable, and AAA Mega Champion El Hijo Del Vikingo. We are live at the Kia Forum.
At the announcers desk are the aforementioned Corey Graves and Konnan. We’re then introduced to the AAA announce team that includes WWE announcer Marcelo Rodriguez. In the ring for the start of the show are Shawn Michaels, Marisela Pena (who is the President of AAA), Paul Levesque, and Blue Demon Jr.
Dayra Barrera sings the Mexican national anthem, followed by Lilian Garcia singing the American national anthem.
Rey Mysterio enters and Graves mentions he’s just won the Legend Impact award from the National Hispanic Media Council. Konnan tells a dad joke about Rey and Graves chuckles. Rey talks about how incredible it is to see the WWE and AAA logos in the same ring, and then asks how Los Angeles is doing. He mentions the original Worlds Collide held 31 years ago in Los Angeles and how proud he is to be a part of the evolution of Lucha. He also mentions that WWE helped put Lucha on the map and…well…I’m going to leave that one alone.
Trios: Mr Iguana, Octagon Jr, and Aerostar vs Dragon Lee, Cruz Del Toro and Lince Dorado
I’m thinking it must be kind of nostalgic for Konnan to be able to talk about the LWO again. In the crowd are Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio and both are looking…unimpressed. Konnan mentions that this will not be like American wrestling as Lucha has been cultivated and shaped for years, so that anyone watching Lucha for the first time can understand there will be some differences. It will be Octagon and Del Toro to start. There’s a handshake between the two and we’re off.
Grappling to start, and Del Toro gets a shoulderblock to knock Octagon down. A series of knockdowns by both leads to a standoff and applause from the crowd. Mr Iguana and Lince Dorado tag in. Konnan mentions La Yesca, who is Mr Iguana’s “pet” (it’s an iguana hand puppet in actuality). Dorado gets some armdrags and offers a handshake, which seems to confuse Iguana. A leapfrog by Iguana leads to a huge chop from Dorado that staggers the AAA competitor. Iguana recovers and gets an armdrag on Dorado, and he puts on La Yesca. Dorado seems to be dubious about locking up. La Yesca helps Iguana get an armdrag, and the crowd chants for Iguana. Aerostar and Dragon Lee enter and shake hands. Lee knocks Aerostar down, but he recovers and chops Lee. Aerostar hits a rana but Lee lands on his feet. Aerostar drops Lee on to the second rope and goes up and over onto the apron, but Lee takes over and hits a big kick. Aerostar answers right back with his own kick, and he goes up and hits a torneo for one. Aerostar charges in and ends up upside down in the corner, so Lee kicks him in the face. Aerostar is on the ropes and Lee charges only for Aerostar to send him to the floor. Iguana and Octagon hit stereo ranas on Del Toro and Dorado and they end up on the floor with Lee. Iguana and Octagon then hit stereo topes, and Aerostar hits a suicida on Lee. Aerostar tosses Lee back in and goes for a splash, but Lee gets the knees up and covers for two. Del Toro tags in and hits a moonsault, and he tags in Dorado who gets a splash for one. Dorado hits a backstabber on Aerostar for one, and he tags in Lee. Lee hits a big knee to Aerostar’s jaw, but Aerostar answers with a dropkick and both guys are down.
Iguana and Del Toro are tagged in and a chop battle ensues. Del Toro gets a low dropkick on Iguana, and rolls him around in a La Magistral cradle for two. Iguana hits a twirling facebuster on Del Toro and brings La Yesca back in. Dorado comes in to deal with La Yesca, but while he does Iguana hits a diving rana on Lee leaving La Yesca with a confused Dorado. Dorado then drops an elbow on La Yesca and then hits the poor thing with a standing Spanish Fly, and Iguana is now LIVID. Iguana hits a helicopter spin and drops Dorado, and then whips all three of his opponents with La Yesca. The LWO group hits a triple superkick on Iguana, and Dorado gets a double stunner on both Aerostar and Octagon. Iguana is draped in the corner and Lee hits a double stomp. Lee topes Octagon and Dorado hits a shooting star press on Iguana and Del Toro covers him for two until it’s broken up by Aerostar. Octagon and Dorado tag in and Dorado gets a kick to a poised Octagon. Dorado hits a Super Frankensteiner on Octagon and Aerostar charges in and hits a cutter on Dorado. Lee superkicks Aerostar, and then eats a huge headbutt from Iguana. Del Toro steps down the ropes and hits a dropkick on Iguana. The cameras miss a Lee move on Iguana that the crowd pops for, and Aerostar charges and hits a springing splash to the floor on Lee. Del Toro considers his next move and then hits a top rope torneo on all three opponents on the floor. Octagon and Dorado face off in the ring and have a chop battle. Dorado hits an elbow, but Octagon gets a high kick and headbutt, and both are up top. Octagon hits a moonsault fallaway slam and gets the three!
Really fun opener and Iguana’s gimmick is super over. I enjoyed it.
Winners – Octagon, Aerostar and Mr Iguana (Octagon moonsault fallaway slam to Dorado)
Post match sees Dominik Mysterio with a microphone to thunderous boos from the crowd. Dom calls out the trio for being Rey Mysterio fans and reminds them that he’s a “deadbeat”. Octagon takes umbrage and steps up to Dom as he talks trash. Dom pushes Octagon, but Octagon yanks him over the barrier and starts throwing bombs. They end up grappling in the ring and Iguana threatens Liv with La Yesca in a funny spot. Dom challenges Octagon for Money In The Bank and puts up his men’s Intercontinental title! Well, that’s a whole thing. See Scott’s report for the outcome of that.
We get a pre tape video package on the history of AAA. Marisela Pena and Dorian Roldan speak about Antonio Pena’s vision and how the company changed the course of Lucha forever.
Mascarita Sagrada and Latin Lover are shown in the crowd, along with hip hop artist That Mexican OT.
Chuey Martinez is backstage with Legado Del Fantasma. Berto says they’re ready to show the AAA guys who owns Lucha, and Angel says they’re going to prove their legacy tonight. Escobar holds up a WWE logo and says it means something. They’re going to show that Legado and Familia own Lucha.
The buildup to the women’s tag match is shown with a lot of focus on Stephanie Vaquer. WWE Women’s World Champion IYO Sky is in the crowd, as is WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton,
Dalys and Chik Tormenta vs Stephanie Vaquer and Lola Vice
Konnan says that if you ever see Dalys and Tormenta fighting a bear in the woods, go help the bear. Graves uses the word “drafted” when describing Vaquer’s move to Raw, but I’m sure I’m the only one who finds that interesting. The bell rings and it’s Vaquer and Dalys to start.
Grappling to start, and Vaquer floats over with a rollup for two. Konnan discusses the Mexican tradition of Padrino and Madrina (this is around the veteran that a rookie has their first match with who becomes their “godfather” or “godmother” – Dalys is Vaquer’s Madrina) and that Dalys and Vaquer have a lot of unfinished business. Vaquer goes for Devil’s Kiss early, but Dalys lifts her up and drops her face first onto the top turnbuckle. Tormenta tags in and they hit a double-team bulldog on Vaquer. Tormenta has recently lost her mask in a Lucha de Apuestas match according to Graves. Vaquer gets a snap suplex on Tormenta and tags in Vice. Vice trips up Tormenta and Vaquer hits her with a 619 to a big pop. Vice covers for two. They share blows and Tormenta comes off the ropes with a huge right hand, and she rolls up Vice into a half Boston Crab. Vice manages to escape and gets a rana on Tormenta, followed by two roundhouse kicks to Tormenta’s mid-section. Dalys tags in and Vice hits her shotgun kicks to Dalys’s legs. Vice hits hip attacks on both opponents and covers Dalys for two. Vice grabs an armbar and Dalys rolls her over for two. Vice takes over with strikes, but Tormenta grabs her as Dalys comes in with a dropkick to send Vice to the floor. Tormenta runs her over with a lariat and says some stuff to Tiffany Stratton at ringside. Back in the ring Dalys hits a sitout gourdbuster on Vice for two. Dalys whips Vice into the corner and follows with a lariat. Tormenta tags in and hits a powerslam on Vice for two. Tormenta stretches Vice and then drops her and covers for two. Tormenta whips Vice into the corner and hits a running Euro uppercut before tagging Dalys back in.
Dalys hits a running shotgun dropkick on a prone Vice as Negro Casas is shown in the crowd supporting Dalys. She covers Vice for two. Dalys hits a powerslam but misses an elbow drop as Vice crawls towards Vaquer. Vice is whipped back into the corner but hits an elbow on Tormenta. Dalys stops her cold with a chop and goes to suplex her, but Vice reverses into a rollup for two. Vice finally tags in Vaquer. Vaquer hits a crossbody from the top and an Eat Defeat on Dalys. Tormenta charges in and Vaquer works her over in the opposite corner, and then hits Tormenta with a running double knee. Vaquer gets a dragon screw on Dalys and covers for two. They have a chop battle and Vaquer knocks Dalys down and sets up Devils’s Kiss. Tormenta charges in and Vice catches her, so Vaquer and Vice hit simultaneous Devil’s Kisses on their opponents. Tormenta bails and Vice catches her with a rolling tackle. Vaquer is looking for SVB but Dalys reverses and lifts her in an “Atlantida” as called by Konnan (it’s like a crucifix backbreaker). Vaquer reverses and rolls Dalys up for two. Vaquer hits the SVB and that will end things.
Given that Vaquer had a ladder match in front of her for later in the evening, I’m not surprised she mostly stayed out of this one, but she once again showed that she’s a hell of a talent. The two AAA competitors were cool to watch because it was much more strong style type work from them, and Vice took an appropriate ass kicking for the middle part of the match. This was really well done for having some styles clash elements.
Winners – Stephane Vaquer and Lola Vice (SVB to Dalys)
Post match Vero Rodriguez comes in the ring to interview the victors. Vaquer says she will become Miss MITB.
Here’s Chuey Rodriguez backstage with Chad Gable. Gable says the luchadores might have issues with him but the Mexican people love him. He says they are also embracing El Grande Americano who will become Mr MITB tonight and Gable will be walking out with the Mega championship after the main event.
The Legado pre tape promo from Smackdown is shown ahead of the next Trios match. The response promo from Psycho Clown, Pagano and El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr is shown next. Psycho Clown was in the match when Santos Escobar lost his mask at Triplemania.
Chavo Guerrero is shown in the crowd and he gets a real pop. WWE Tag Team Champions The Street Profits are also at the show.
Trios: Legado del Fantasma vs Pagano, Psycho Clown and El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr
Legado are wearing matching camo pants in a show of unity. Konnan talks up the crazy amount of wrestlers that came from Psycho Clown’s family. A show of respect from Psycho is rejected by Escobar. Wagner will start with Berto, the bell rings and we’re off.
Berto with a wristlock to start but Wagner reverses into a headlock. Wagner runs Berto over with a shoulderblock and after a few laps of the ropes hits Berto with a rana. Wagner grabs an arm, but Berto fights up and Angel tags in. Some double team work from Los Garza and Angel covers for one. Wagner hits a chop and tags in Psycho. Psycho hits a crossbody on Angel, and follows that with a big elbow. He powerslams Angel and gets a one count. Psycho hits Angel with a couple of right hands and holds off a charging Berto with kicks. A bunch of reversals leads to Psycho hitting a double German suplex on Los Garza. Psycho covers Angel for two. Psycho hits a tope through the turnbuckles on Escobar and pounds away on the announce table. Pagano tags in and hits Los Garza with a dropkick from the top. Pagano gets a facebuster on Berto but Angel catches him and chops away on the ropes. Pagano tosses Berto and hits Angel with a back elbow, before clotheslining him to the floor. Pagano goes for a tope but Escobar pushes Berto out of the way and Pagano crashes to the floor. Legado pose to huge “culero” chants from the crowd. Angel kicks Pagano and tosses him back in and covers for two. Angel hits a running elbow and tags in Escobar. Legado lines up Pagano on the bottom rope and hit him with a triple kick and Berto covers for two. Berto hits a rolling moonsault for two. Berto chokes Pagano on the second rope and as the ref breaks it up, Angel and Escobar also attack. Escobar tags in and goes to work with kicks, but Pagano recovers and hits Escobar with a Blockbuster.
Escobar struggles to hold Pagano back from tagging but Pagano kicks him off. Escobar staggers back and tags in Berto, as Pagano finally gets to tag in Psycho. Psycho gets some strong forearms and a slam and goes to cover. Angel comes charging in but Psycho catches him and drapes him in the tree of woe position in the corner. Pagano hits a basement drop kick on Angel, then catches Escobar on the apron with an elbow. He hits Berto with a Code Red for a long two. Psycho tags in Wagner as Berto tags in Escobar. They square off in a chop battle, and a rope run by both results in a big clothesline for Wagner. Wagner hits a charging Berto with a headbutt and dragon screw. Angel finally recovers but Wagner hits a dragon screw on him as well. Legado is on the floor and all three AAA guys get topes on them, first Pagano and then Wagner and Psycho simultaneously. Everyone struggles back to ringside.
A hockey fight breaks out between all six and Wagner gets a big boot on Escobar. Wagner hits a staggering Escobar with a running knee and then a Falcon Arrow which gets two as Angel breaks it up. Escobar tags in Berto who hoists Wagner up on the top turnbuckle, and then tags in Angel. They double team slam Wagner from the top as Pagano and Psycho charge over. Psycho hits Berto with his Psycho Driver on the apron. Angel hits Psycho with a moonsault from the top, and then Pagano hits a splash on Angel on the floor. Wagner charges over and hits a big boot on Escobar, and then he charges around the ring and hits Escobar with a rolling tackle off the ring steps. Wagner tosses Escobar in and covers for two as it’s broken up by Angel. Psycho hits a sit-out powerbomb on Angel but Berto catches him celebrating and kicks him in the face. Pagano hits a codebreaker from the middle rope on Berto, but Angel wipes him out with a headbutt and everyone is on the floor. Berto charges the pile and knocks everyone over, and Escobar is left alone in the ring with Wagner. Wagner hits Escobar with a running knee and covers for two. Wagner shouts out Eddie Guerrero and goes up top. Escobar catches him with a kick and they slug it out. Escobar hits Wagner with a super Frankensteiner which gets a long two count. Escobar tries for the Phantom Driver but Wagner rolls him up for two. Escobar hits Wagner with a huge knee and the Phantom Driver gets three.
Well, that was a hell of a fight. I think Pagano was a little rough and maybe had some nerves, but everyone busted their asses and put on a big show and that was the point. The crowd ate it up too because Escobar’s crew are very good at the heel stuff that plays.
Winners – Legado Del Fantasma (Phantom Driver to El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr)
Highlights are shown of the first ever Worlds Collide show with a LOT of familiar faces in the package.
Vikingo is backstage with Vero Rodriguez and he is ready for Chad Gable in tonight’s main event.
Savio Vega is in the crowd hanging out with Damien Priest. Blue Demon is shown and he gets a big pop as Konnan talks up his legendary status.
Men’s NXT North American Championship: Ethan Page (C) vs Je’von Evans vs Rey Fenix vs Laredo Kid
If you don’t watch NXT, Page and Evans have had a heated feud in the past. Laredo has been working in TNA a bunch, and obviously Rey Fenix is tearing it up on Smackdown. Page just won the NA title from Ricky Saints a couple of weeks ago and this is his first defense. Whomever wins this match also has a title match on Tuesday night against Sean Legacy who’s on the Evolve brand. Konnan says Ethan Page has “idiots luck” as he makes his entrance and I’m just now recovering from laughing that hard. Lilian Garcia does the in-ring intros, the bell rings and we’re off.
Page tries immediately to duck out of the ring but Evans catches him. A triple team sends Page to the floor, and Laredo gets an armdrag on Evans and a rana on Fenix. Fenix comes back with a clothesline on Laredo and then he and Evans, who were tag partners on Smackdown recently, face off. It looks like Evans is going to forearm him, but instead he goes for the sneaky rollup and gets two. The two get into a slap fight, and Evans gets the advantage with some heavy blows. Fenix gains control and slaps Evans chest a bunch, then runs him into the corner for his jumping armdrag from the second rope (a move I cannot do justice with just typing it out, Fenix is ridiculously gifted athletically). Fenix hits a rana but Evans lands on his feet, and Page runs in to push Fenix into Evans. Page kicks Fenix a bunch, and then lays the boots into Evans. Laredo sneaks back in and gets a running rana on Page, and then charges at Fenix. Fenix gets a rana on Laredo who bails, and then Page hits a rana on Fenix and poses for the crowd. Evans comes in and hits a rana on Page, and then dropkicks him out of the ring. Evans thinks about taking flight but Fenix closes and whales him with a chop. Evans whips Fenix into the ropes and Fenix comes off with a huge spider kick that wipes Evans out.
Fenix goes to fly but Laredo catches him in the corner with a right hand. Laredo kicks Page away and then hits a reverse moonsault to the floor on Page and Evans. All three are on the floor and Fenix hits all three with a torneo over the top rope. Fenix hits a huge spinning DDT on Page and gets two. Fenix sets Page in the corner to potentially go for the Muscle Buster, but Evans charges over and boots Fenix in the ribs. The crowd is calling for tables and Konnan openly questions why they would want that in a match like this (say what you will but I’m with him on this). Evans punches Page and goes to do something with him, but Laredo catches Evans with a kick and then he goes up top with a recovering Page. Page snatches Laredo up and slams him down on a prone Evans, and then Page hits a top rope splash on Evans for two. Page snatches Evans up into a spinebuster which also gets two as Fenix breaks it up. Laredo and Fenix square off and Laredo catches him with a reverse kick. Laredo charges and hits a huge running forearm on Fenix in the corner, and then hits him with a Michinoku driver before ascending. Laredo hits a second rope twisting moonsault on Fenix but Page interrupts, so Laredo punches him and whips him into the corner. Laredo hits the running forearm on Page, and then gets a two count on Fenix after a rolling DDT-looking thing (even Graves didn’t know what to call it on the replay). Evans breaks that up and everyone is down.
Laredo gets a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Evans and then ascends, but Evans recovers and trips him up on the top turnbuckle. Laredo ends up in the tree of woe, but Evans is confronted by Page. Evans ducks a kick and gets bouncy on the ropes. He hit a springboard German suplex and Page is out of the ring and on the announce table. Evans, who still has Laredo prone in the corner, decides to fly onto Page instead and he soars all the way to the announce table from the ring. This kid is going have a full bump card in like five years but he is wildly unafraid, I’ll give him that. Evans ascends again and this time goes coast to coast with a flipping Pele-type kick that barely connects to the still-prone Laredo. That looked like it hurt. Fenix comes in but Evans catches him with a running spin kick and then a springboard cutter, and that gets two until Page breaks it up. Evans has had enough of Page so he just starts throwing bombs at his head, but Page snaps the top rope into Evans throat and runs him into the still-prone Laredo. Page confronts a reeling Fenix, but Fenix reverses and hits a stiff dropkick right in Page’s face. Fenix ascends, charges down the top rope and punts Page directly in the head. Laredo has finally recovered and he charges Fenix, but Fenix slips it and kicks Laredo in the back. Fenix hits the jumping armdrag and a double stomp to Laredo’s chest. Evans returns but he also eats some kicks from Fenix. Fenix hoists him up and hits the Fenix Driver for a VERY long two. Page and Laredo are back in and Page tries to muscle up Fenix but Evans flies in with a huge splash on Page and everyone is down.
Evans recovers and picks up Laredo and chops him in the corner. Evans goes up and as he does, Page whips Fenix into Evans…well, ass…and Evans goes flying. Page hoists up Fenix for the Ego’s Edge but Fenix frees himself on the top rope and hits a top rope Spanish Fly on Laredo. Page springs up and hits the Ego’s Edge on Fenix for two before Evans once again soars in to break it up. Laredo hits Evans with a couple right hands but Evans hits him with the Superman punch. Page snatches Evans up and tries for the Twisted Grin but Evans reverses and goes up top. Page pushes Laredo into the line of fire as Evans hits a reverse springboard cutter on him. Page whips Evans to the outside on top of Fenix, picks up Laredo and hits the Twisted Grin to retain.
I wasn’t sure how this was going to go booking-wise because the men’s NA title has been a bit of a hot potato lately. Page retaining makes sense because he’ll make Legacy look good on Tuesday night and then can move on to whatever next feud he’ll have coming. Evans and Fenix are INSANELY gifted athletes, and Laredo is perfectly cromulent in terms of his whole game. MOTN so far for me.
Winner AND STILL NXT Men’s North American Champion – Ethan Page (Twisted Grin to Laredo Kid)
There’s a video package for the upcoming Triplemania card. I’m not gonna bring up the blog meme about Triplemania but let’s just say it’s an event that people will forgo a LOT of things to see.
They do their best to not show Alberto during the next highlights package of Vikingo prior to the main event (he hasn’t been mentioned by name either).
AAA Mega Championship: El Hijo Del Vikingo (C) vs Chad Gable
Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is in the crowd. Gable comes in to a loud and unhappy reception. Vikingo’s reception is much friendlier. Lilian Garcia again does the ring intros. The bell rings and here we go.
Grappling to start and Vikingo gets an armbar takedown. The crowd does a “Let’s go Gable/Gable sucks” chant. Gable escapes acrobatically and tells the crowd he just got a two point takedown. Gable grabs an armbar, but Vikingo escapes and ties Gable up in La Guitara. Gable escapes and gets a sneaky rollup for two. Gable gets a Fireman’s Carry takedown and grabs the arm again. Vikingo slips out and rolls up Gable for a quick two. We reset as it’s been very technical so far. A test of strength ensues and Gable pushes Vikingo slowly down, but Vikingo leverages up and eventually trips up Gable for two one counts. They are tied up as thing is way more wildly technical than I think anyone was expecting. Gable reverses Vikingo’s armbar into an ankle lock. Vikingo tosses him off and we reset again.
Gable finally starts throwing punches and staggers Vikingo. A backdrop gets two for Gable. Gable comes off the second rope but Vikingo catches him and a series of reversals results in Gable charging Vikingo in the corner. Vikingo slips it and Gable’s shoulder goes full force into the ring post. Vikingo hits a top rope dropkick. Gable is selling the shoulder as Vikingo tries to whip him across the ring. Gable charges in but eats a boot, and more reversals lead to a Vikingo rana. Vikingo hits a Meteora and Gable is dumped out to the floor. Vikingo walks the top rope and hits a 630 splash on Gable as the crowd loses it. Vikingo tosses Gable back in and gets two. Vikingo hits a dropkick through the ropes to Gable who’s now on the floor. Vikingo tries a running shooting star press off the apron but Gable gets his knees up. Gable whips Vikingo into the ring steps, and then runs his head into the same steps. Gable lifts the ring apron and pulls out a table which he sets up outside the ring. Gable tries for a German but Vikingo escapes and hits a thrust kick to Gable’s jaw. Gable retaliates with a big lariat. Gable tosses Vikingo in and gets two. Gable goes to ground and pound, and then whips Vikingo into the corner. Gable charges in and gets a monkey flip on Vikingo out of the corner for a two count. Gable gets a short abdominal stretch, but Vikingo kicks his way out of it only to be met by a double thrust to the throat.
Gable hits a bridge German suplex for two. Gable yanks up Vikingo and drops him stomach-first on the top rope. A kick from Gable gets two. Gable starts laying in chops with Vikingo in the corner. He whips Vikingo into the opposite corner but Vikingo reverses and hits a huge chop on Gable. Vikingo signals for something and wades in but Gable catches him and gets an armbar while he’s draped over the ropes. Gable releases it at the ref’s four count and ascends. Gable comes off the top into a Codebreaker from Vikingo. A standoff in the middle ends up with a huge forearm from Vikingo into Gable’s face. Vikingo drapes Gable in the ropes and kicks him in the back. Vikingo ascends and hits a stomp on Gable from a long way away, and that gets two.
Vikingo charges in and Gable flips him over the top rope, and Vikingo hits a springboard 450 splash for a long two. Vikingo tries a springboard backflip but Gable catches him and drops him with a modified Gory Special for two. Gable ascends and tries a moonsault but Vikingo escapes it and he ascends. Gable catches him with a right hand and then hits Vikingo with an avalanche sitout powerbomb for the longest two you’ll ever see. Gable is baffled he didn’t win with that. Gable charges in to a corner and meets an elbow, and he charges back in as Vikingo crotches him on the top rope. Vikingo hits Gable with a dropkick that drops him to the apron. Vikingo ascends again and hits a Mexican Destroyer on Gable on the apron. That was a scary ass spot. He tosses Gable back in for a long two count. Vikingo puts Gable on the still-there table and goes up, but Gable scrambles off and pushes Vikingo off the top rope to the floor. Gable runs Vikingo over the ring steps and puts him on the table, and starts working right hands. Gable ascends and hits a moonsault on Vikingo through the table, and both guys are down. The ref count gets to nine before both guys make it back in the ring. There’s a slapfight and it ends with Gable holding Vikingo in the ankle lock. Vikingo tries for the ropes and doesn’t make it, but he slips out and Gable tries for a German suplex and Vikingo lands on his feet. Vikingo hits a spin kick on Gable and he comes up favoring his left knee. Vikingo hits a poison rana off the ropes and Gable is in the corner. Vikingo hits a Meteora and a 630 splash from the top rope to retain.
HOLY CRAP that was a good match. Gable is just so good at so many things and always finds a way to make his opponents look like a million bucks. He gets pinned a little too much for my liking but he brings it in the ring. Vikingo worked a slower match this time and still managed to get all of his signature stuff in. I enjoyed this thoroughly.
Winner AND STILL AAA Mega Champion – El Hijo Del Vikingo (630 splash)
Post match and the AAA crew are all in the ring celebrating with Vikingo.
This show ruled from start to finish. Highest recommendation.
