Cena’s heel turn and why Charlotte Flair needed to be involved
By Scott Keith on 21 March 2025
They really should have found a way to work Charlotte Flair into Cena's heel turn. Have her become John's manager, have her lay the groundwork for Cena's promo by having her imply that Cena had enough of everyone crapping on him/preferring Punk and Cody over him, and go the route of Charlotte personally seducing (literally and figuratively) Cena into turning evil. Both because Rock considers her his preferred “Queen Bee” of the women's division but also because Rock needs help finding a way to destroy Cody and what better person to spearhead the destruction of a Rhodes than a Flair?
Not only does this give the WWE a trap door to reverse Cena's heel turn when John inevitably starts bitching about how he doesn't like being booed as a villain/putting over Cody, but also solves the issue of Cena and Rock being part timers and not appearing every week. Charlotte becomes the Voice of Sauron, talking for John and Rock every week with the added credibility bonus of the fact that Cody and Charlotte are indeed the next generation rivalry of Dusty and Flair and play up the fact that their families are blood enemies.

Yeah let’s turn Charlotte into a manager. Tremendous idea.
