This is the guy who gave Bret Hart his “Excellence of Execution” nickname. At WrestleMania V, for example, Bret hit Greg Valentine with a “BEAUTIFUL vertical suplex!” that had both Monsoon & Ventura marking out. If a guy hit a great strike, it was “RIGHT on
the money-maker!”. Or Haku's “BEAUTIFUL reverse crescent kick!”. Even Paul Roma of all people got props for all his excellent moves, even while Monsoon shit all over his excessive posing and lackadaisical covers. And nobody marked out harder for the Jumping
Bomb Angels than Monsoon on commentary, being utterly wowed by all of their stuff.
See, Monsoon shat on bad technique- don't want your technique to be shat on? Use GOOD technique. Gorilla was your grumpy uncle- hard to impress, but when he DID get impressed, it actually meant something. Look at the commentators today, all praising every move-
if every move is great, then NO move is. As a young fan, it was Monsoon who trained me to be a snob for the good workers and look out for how good their stuff was.
