Hogan the Real American

By Scott Keith on 5 July 2021

That e-mail about the length of Hogan's initial title reign made me think of this question: Hogan was already the biggest thing in wrestling in '85, but how crucial was getting “Real American” as his entrance song to really solidifying his image/aura and making
him even bigger than the biggest thing? Putting the question another way: how might Hogan's mystique and longevity have been affected (if it would be affected at all) had he continued to use the “Rock 'n' Wrestling” TV show theme past early '86?

And speaking of the song, was it actually intended for the Windham/Rotundo team and given to Hogan after their departure? That's what I've heard, but don't know if it's actually true.
That’s true.
As for the effectiveness of the song, he wouldn’t have NOT been over without it but it sure made him more over.
