–Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan are calling today’s action and they are taped from Orlando, Florida.
–Opening Contest: Ric Flair (16-3) defeats Bunkhouse Buck (w/Colonel Robert Parker) (5-10) after a flying forearm at 3:48:
Schiavone promises this “to be a great one” and Heenan responds by channeling his old pal Gorilla Monsoon in proclaiming that this match “is a main event anywhere.” The former claim sets viewers up for a disappointment whereas the latter cannot be proven since WCW abandoned doing a lot of house shows in 1995. Babyface Flair can do top rope moves as he dazes Buck with a double ax handle and breaks from his usual formula to win with a flying forearm. Flair has assembled a six-match winning streak since he lost to Arn Anderson at Fall Brawl. Rating: ¾*
–A Kamala & Zodiac squash against Scott D’Amore & Terry Morgan, which originally aired on WCW Prime on September 25 is replayed.
–Gene Okerlund interviews Johnny B. Badd. Badd says that Diamond Dallas Page cost him a shot at the United States title so he is coming after his title instead.
–As part of the Halloween Havoc Control Center, WCW Champion Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart cut a promo against the Giant. He says his monster truck is being built by the same people who put together Bigfoot and it is going to make Bigfoot “look like a micro machine.” Hogan promises to beat the Giant in their test of machines, beat him in the ring, and then bury him next to his father. This will somehow make Hogan immortal in some weird retelling of Christ’s resurrection.
–Television Championship Match: Diamond Dallas Page (Champion w/the Diamond Doll) (17-1-2) beats Tim Horner (0-16) after a tilt-a-whirl slam at 2:01:
Since Joey Maggs got a title shot on WCW Pro it is only fitting to give Horner one as well. He may not possess a singles win, but he did win a couple of tag matches with Brad Armstrong earlier in the year. Horner might win some matches if he learned to land a few moves instead of finding creative ways to roll up his opponent. Page kicks out of Horner’s half nelson bridge cradle finisher and opts to finish with a tilt-a-whirl slam instead of the Diamond Cutter.
–Okerlund interviews Kurasawa and Colonel Robert Parker. This pairing is unusual because Kurasawa never interacts with Parker’s other charges Dick Slater and Bunkhouse Buck. Parker tells Road Warrior Hawk that is a dog.
–Randy Savage (15-3) pins Dick Slater (w/Colonel Robert Parker) (1-2) after a flying elbow smash at 4:34:
The last thing this show needed was a zoned in Savage match where he takes several minutes of punishment before hitting one move to win, but that is exactly what the audience gets as Slater fires away and uses the piledriver as a transition move. Then Slater botches taking his boot off in a timely fashion, delaying the finish where Savage gets a hold of it, blasts his foe, and hits his finisher to end a two-match losing streak. Rating: DUD
–Okerlund interviews Savage by the entrance, with Ric Flair wasting no time to interrupt. Savage wants to tear into Flair, but WCW security holds him back. Flair apologizes to Savage for messing with his family earlier in the year and tries to recruit Savage as a partner to face Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman. Savage responds by telling Flair that after what he did to his dad he can go to hell.
–Tune in next week to see Dave Sullivan face Big Bubba Rogers! Also, Kurasawa and Arn Anderson & Brian Pillman will be in action!
The Last Word: The show was a waste until the closing segment. It is funny how desperate Ric Flair is getting to find a partner that he would seek out a guy whose father he beat up earlier in the year. Randy Savage’s response was on point.
