WWE Evolve August 26th 2026

By Phrederic on 26 August 2026

Welcome back to a pretty stuffed Evolve as we have four, count ‘em, four matches today. We got Laynie Luck challenging “The Issue” PJ Vasa, Kale Dixon taking on Chazz “Starboy” Hall, and Zena Sterling facing Layla Diggs…but above all we have Elijah Holyfield taking on Brooks Jensen in a Lumberjack Match! Plus the return of Aarron Rourke. But before we get into that, catch up with what’s good in the greater WWE cinematic universe.

Main Event – Impact – Smackdown – AAA – Raw – NXT

Brooks Jensen says that it’s preposterous to assume he’s afraid of Elijah Holyfield cause of a famous last name. Brooks size 14 snakeskin boots don’t run from anything, all they do is kick rookie butt. So they’re settling this tonight in a lumberjack match. And Brooks has one last lesson for Elijah, and that there is no escape and he’ll toss Elijah to the lumberjacks to finish him off. And when Elijah is looking up at the lights, the only thing on his mind is how he’s going to explain to his dad that he’s nothing more and nothing less than a colossal failure!

Brooks retro heel stylings amuse me greatly. I know we have health concerns but can he get some form of non-carcinogenic chaw for his promo segments?

FLASKS! POSING! SMOKE! RAPPING! It’s Evolve!

We have Blake Howard and Robert Stone running down the card and yes, it will be Brooks vs. Elijah in the main-event.

Laynie Luck vs. PJ Vasa

Background: Luck is our hardscrabble indie vet face, she’s had a lot of bad…fortune as she’s been the punching bag for a lot of heels and never really gotten a fair chance as…karma doesn’t seem to favor her. PJ Vasa is a big mean south pacific lady with tattoos, she’s The Issue and beats people up and recently picked Luck as her target to return to the top and Pillmanized Laynie’s ankle. Veteran savvy and guts vs. dominant physical presence in this one. Laynie is in light pink with reddish hair and PJ is in her red and black bodysuit with the tusk pattern.

The Match: Luck starts with some strikes and floats out of a power move as we cut to the VIP Section where Sloane Jacobs is present. Luck gets a tilt-a-whirl headscissors to send Vasa outside, a tope and then a between the ropes flip senton but PJ shrugs it off picks up Luck for an over-the-shoulder MIchinoku Driver, some overhand chops and a corner avalanche sets up a short-arm clothesline as PJ is in control. A PJ spear gets 2.5 as commentary talks about her rugby experience and then Vasa gets a bearhug. Luck gets a bellclap and then dodges a falling headbutt and Laynie gets a few kicks, an enzuigiri, shining wizard, and climbs the ropes for a missile dropkick and then catches a powdering PJ with a diving stomp on the apron for a cover. Luck can’t get a power move though as her body is bad, and then Vasa catches a Laynie kick for a powerbomb for 2.7. A PJ suplex is turned into a Luck DDT, Laynie with a thrust kick and then the DDP (Death Valley Driver) gets 3.

**

Huh. Well, no selling, just sort of a sprint, very much, you do a move, I do a move stuff, but it was quick and energetic and heated where the lack of depth didn’t bug me. Laynie wins clean though? Interesting.

Post-match Sloane Jacobs barks at PJ Vasa and Jacobs jets when PJ moves on her.

Gianna Capri rattles off a ton of Joisey Italian-American cliches and says she’s not here to make friends or wait in line for gabagol. She’s won titles, she’s toured Japan, she’s been a ballerina for 20 years. She’s tired of taking direction but she still learned discipline and how to make this look easy. And Anya Rune, she thinks Gianna is her threat, accountability is, nobody cares about Rune’s problems and maybe Capri rubs people the wrong way but that’s good, cause Gianna never trusts anybody who is liked by everybody. It’s only going to get worse from here.

Boy this was…a lot. Like even early NXT 2.0 Tony D’Angelo would say this is too much. Still, it’s Evolve for a reason.

Chazz “Starboy” Hall vs. Kale Dixon w/ Alix Brooks

Background: Kale has made his return to TV and he’s now doing “I’m a hot athlete with a hot athletic lady with me” gimmick and uh…that’s basically all he has. Chazz is a former indie journeyman guy who bounced around everywhere as a tiny flippy guy, he’s The Denim Dragon and is yes, wearing overalls. Ryan Katz puts extra-pizzazz into the Kale intro as he works those syllables and does a saucy little intro number for the duo.

The Match: Immediate slam and cover by Kale on the smaller Chazz and then a corner strike A Kale powerbomb is turned into a sunset flip for 2 and Chazz follows with a cradle and then some flips to a kick to shut-down Dixon’s offense. Chazz gets a springboard armdrag and a dropkick to shut down Kale. More athleticism and evasion from Chazz as he dances around the ring and goes for a Sliced Bread but Kale blocks and cuts Starboy down with a lariat. Ground and pound as we see Cappuccino Jones in the VIP Section. Tree of woe to Starboy and Kale stomps away and then a rope-hung inverted DDT for no cover and more ground and pound and then a camel clutch. Chazz slips free and tries a tilt-a-whirl but Kale turns that into a wheelbarrow facebuster and then goes up and whiffs a splash. Chazz keeps it mobile and throws shots, a second-rope headscissors, heel kick, pulls the straps down and Hall gets a standing sliced bread and a standing corkscrew moonsault for 2. Hall flips out of a German, and both trade rollups but Hall goes to the ropes but Alix trips him up and he stumbles into the 96 (rolling elbow) and that’s 3.

*¼

Boy uh…Kale is terrible. I get none of his act, it doesn’t work together, he doesn’t really cheat, he just does stuff. Hall mostly does stuff too but Hall at least wrestles small. No selling, no cohesion. At least the heels cheated to win. This ain’t it.

Post-match Capp hypes up Hall who does NOT seem to be digging the pep-talk.

Elijah Holyfield is walking and talking and tells us Brooks is a liar, a cheapshot artist, a bully, and an idiot, cause there’s no way he’s talking trash on the Holyfield name and expecting to get away with it. Tonight, Brooks gets knocked out in front of the world.

Layla Diggs vs. Zena Sterling

Background: Layla is a hyper athletic former track and field star, last we checked she was one of Nattie’s stooges but had an injury. Zena Sterling is an LFG wrestler who has been scrambling for a spot on the card and has been constantly begging THE FOREMAN Timothy Thatcher for more singles opportunities (including some crashouts) she’s talked herself into a singles against the more accomplished Layla after Zena had a showing in an 8-woman tag as a replacement for the injured Laynie Luck. Who was injured via PJ Vasa, see, interconnecting stories! It’s like the Sopranos! Layla is in dark purple with some black hearts (get it, hearts, harts!) on her gear and Zena is in black and gold baggy pants and a top with way too many zippers on it.

The Match: Commentary bigs up that whomever wins this match has as spot in next week’s Fatal 4-Way for the Evolve Women’s Championship, which already has Laynie Luck, Skylar Raye, and Wren Sinclair on tap. Hard lockup starts and Zena takes Layla down but a Diggs uses the splits and a flip to take over Sterling who settles for using her superior size to grind down Diggs. Zena with a cravate and some knees but Diggs uses speed to evade…and runs into a Zena headlock. Zena whips Layla who flips over the ropes, hits a kick, and goes back inside to bounce Sterling off the turnbuckle and some corner offense leads to a Layla step-up knee for 2. Zena up with some strikes and then a back suplex slam and her own corner charge before a clothesline for 2. Robert Stone on commentary talks about how this is the path to WrestleMania, but also AAA, TNA, and Pro Wrestling NOAH, everybody is everywhere in his opinion. Zena with a suplex attempt but Layla flips out and gets her gourdbuster for 2 and then throws a kick but whiffs a pump kick and Sterling gets a tilt-a-whirl slam for 2.3. Sterling with a fireman’s carry but Layla with a sunset flip and then both exchange pinfalls and Sterling gets a foot on the ropes for the leverage pin for 3.

**

So, Zena might not know how to do much more than a headlock, but she did work that headlock. Layla was athletic, Zena is sorta clumsy but she’s bigger, stronger, and more desperate. Pretty solid face/heel setup even if both need TONS of polish.

Post-match Zena talks trash in Ukrainian and crows about her win while Layla complains to the ref about the cheating.

Vanta the Unknown lectures us about how these wrestlers think they’re in control due to the roar of the crowd, but Vanta knows that this is a delusion and she’s going to love exposing these wrestlers false confidence when she drags them into the dark. She wants your panic, she wants your fear, she is The Unknown.

Very spoopy but okay. Let’s get to it though, right?

Out comes Evolve Champion Harlem Lewis, and he’s walkin’ and he’s got his belt and the Harlem Violence World Tour is gonna continue. Lewis has the mic and he’s talkin’, he walked into that 4-way as champ and he walked out as champ, Thatcher can line them up, but Harlem will continue to knock them down, and it’ll be the same the rest of his run. He hasn’t been champion for long but gets how this works and he needs a new challenger, so he’s down for it. THE FOREMAN Timothy Thatcher needs to set up a #1 contendership match and Harlem doesn’t care how it goes or who is in it. Harley Riggins interrupts and says that there isn’t a number one contendership match cause Harley has stacked up wins and smoked the competition. Riggins is the Big Rig and is gonna park himself on the title. Lewis laughs this off, yeah Harley has had some wins, but did Riggins get permission from Kam Hendrix to talk this much? Harley says that Harlem is supposed to be a fighting champion and this violence world-tour is…well Harlem is a female dog. And the brawl is on. And now we go backstage where Aaron Rourke is getting beaten down by the Mog Squad who say that they do more than Mog and they bludgeon Rourke and they say this is a message and the roster will find out what happens.

Next week it’ll be Max Abrams, Harley Riggins, Cutler James, and It’s GAL for the #1 contendership for Harlem’s title, and for Nikkita’s Evolve Women’s Championship we’ll have Zena Sterling, Laynie Luck, Skylar Raye, and Wren Sinclair.

Brooks Jensen vs. Elijah Holyfield – Lumberjack Match

Background: Brooks is the overconfident vet (at a whopping 24 years old), he’s hairy, sweaty, arrogant, greasy, and mean. He’s a second-gen wrestler, and he hates all those nepo baby athlete rookies coming into the PC and thinking they belong. Elijah of course is Evander’s son, and a former UGA RB. He’s humble, hardworking, and respectful…and Brooks has two BS wins over him via blatant and absurd cheating. THe first via an exposed turnbuckle, the second via a rope-assisted rollup. Since then Brooks has been running scared and so we have a lumberjack match, to make sure this happens in the ring. Brooks has his ripped-up COMBAT JEANS and a single cowboy boot while he jaws at the lumberjacks. Holyfield is in baggy vinyl pants and is very intense as he enters the ring.

The Match: Brooks looks around at the lumberjacks before throwing a boot and Elijah catches it and tries to dump him. Jensen begs offend tries to dance around but he goes on the apron and he notices the lumberjacks outside. Brooks goes back in and we have an Elijah headlock…but Brooks reverses and an international sets up Brooks powdering…and the lumberjacks surround him and he shoves a few before diving back inside…only to eat a clothesline from Elijah who knocks him outside and Brooks gets stomped and tossed back in…and Brooks powders to eat more boots and gets tossed back in. Boy they are SELLING this stipulation. A corner charge by Elijah is met with a Brooks elbow and a diving axehandle, but Elijah gets some body shots and then a half-nelson slam before tossing Brooks who hangs in the ropes as he hides between the lumberjacks and Elijah. Brooks finally falls outside, and he runs through the lumberjacks and Elijah chases him, and it ends up with Viktor Zanov catching Elijah going back in for a Brooks knee shiver and we go to a break. Back in and we have a Brooks cover but Elijah hammers away with bodysuits to send Brooks in the ropes…but the vet comes back with a rebound lariat for his own cover and then a camel clutch for some overhand clubbing blows, a neckbreaker, and then a chinlock. Holyfield fires back with a back suplex but eats a punch from Brooks to break it and Eliah tries again. Elijah breaks the hold but Brooks gets a low boot but whiffs an elbow drop. Elijah with a sneaky pin but Brooks lariats him down. Brooks with some disrespectful strikes and a lazy knee drop as he just laughs at Elijah…but Holyfield fires back before Brooks gets his rope-assisted O’Connor Roll…and Elijah kicks out at 2.9. Elijah with a shoulderblock, a corner attack, a bulldog and then a spinebuster for 2. Elijah boxes away but Brooks gets an eyerake, an enzuigiri, and a shining wizard (wait was this on the PC list this week?) and a backdrop driver gets 2.9. They fight over a suplex and some standing switches lead to a rebound lariat from Jensen. Brooks goes up and dives into a scoop powerslam for 2.8 and Jensen grabs the ring apron and crawls outside, and a lumberjack throws a shot and Brooks dodges, so now we have Shido Ash and Viktor Zanov brawling with all the lumberjacks in a pier-6 brawl, it’s breaking loose in Tulsa bah gawd. Romeo Moreno finds a way to hit a huge flip dive and it’s back to Elijah Holyfield staring down Brooks…and as Brooks finds a reason to slip away, Sam Holloway shows up to toss Brooks back inside for an Elijah uppercut for 3.

***

Consarnit that was a lot of fun. Brooks as a tremendous coward, Elijah as a straightforward good guy. Working the lumberjacks, setting up a future feud. Was the ‘match’ all that special? No. Obviously not. But Elijah got his payback, Brooks has an easy next feud, Evil Jerk Bodyguard Judo Guys have some play…just a well-agented match.

Well. I hoped for more I guess, but boy we got a LOT of character progression. Next week we have the double 4-way contender matches and I guess…well I hope they pay off.

As always thanks for reading, catch you on the flipside, and as always, keep on evolving my evolvemaniacs.
