80s WWE Roster

Hey Scott, did WWE ever have plans to run 2 separate brands in the 80s? I know they ran multiple house shows the same day and the roster was packed. Imagine if there were 2 rosters, reigns for savage, piper, dibiase, Andre, etc.
Yeah, but why? The whole point of the brand split is to create the illusion of competition. They already had competition at the time, and splitting the roster would have just weakened their spot. Plus the roster was nowhere near as robust as it is today, and most of those B-shows were filled out by jobbers and low level tag team matches. They would have died a painful death trying to run with a touring schedule comprised of SD Jones in the semi-main event.
