Flair question

Like many I love your observer reviews, because they open up atom of potential questions. By November 1990, it seems Flair was so on the outs with WCW that the writing was on the wall. Yet he main events Starrcade as the Scorpion, and then instantly gets the belt back from Sting before everything blows up. Was there NO ONE else for them to push as a top heel. Luger would’ve worked, turning on Sting. Or Barry or Sid in short term. Why use Flair when the head of company spent months dropping him down the card?

​Because that’s what they ALWAYS do. Spend months trying to phase Flair out and move him down the card, until Flair waits out the next regime change and rides back in like the hero again. It happened with Dusty Rhodes in 88, and then here, and then in WCW in 93, and again in 98 when Bischoff tried to get rid of him. For all their talk, they just didn’t have anyone else they trusted on top, so they went back to Flair again. ​
