What’s the story with WWF giving Sean Waltman like 3 different names in a really short period of time before they stuck with 1-2-3 Kid?

I seem to remember his name changed three times within three or four weeks!

Did they just decide “Cannonball Kid doesn’t really suit him, let’s go with "Kamikaze Kid” instead…”?

​Well that was the gag, right? He was such a generic geek at the time that he kept changing his name in hopes of not being such a loser, before finally figuring out that he was the "1-2-3 Kid". Pretty clever, I thought.
