Landell and Flair in the same company

Was watching Bash 90 recently and it opens with "Nature Boy" Buddy Llandell taking on Brian Pillman

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair then main events later against Sting

I know Ole Anderson’s hiring policy was based less around who’d make a decent addition to the roster and more on who’d work for 10 bucks and a bar of soap, but why have a direct copy of a main event guy in the lower card?

The commentators didn’t even make mention of it either. They weren’t even playing it for heat in a "here’s a goof who thinks he’s Ric Flair" way. He was just being a Ric Flair tribute act in the opener, complete with robe and chops

Weird

​It was that way all the way back to Landell’s run in 85, where he was doing the exact same act as Flair with the same name and no one ever pointed it out on commentary. You’d think this would set up some kind of a feud or confrontation, but NOPE. It always confused me as a kid, too. ​
