Question for the blog – Sting as the 3rd guy

I was watching Nash and Hall’s interview the other day with JBL and they confirm what Bischoff and others have said in that Sting was the back up plan had Hogan not shown up at Bash at the Beach.

They also say that the referee would have told Sting mid-match if that was the case.

Sting has denied any knowledge of ever being the 3rd guy and he’s not really a guy to lie so is it fair to say that they would have forced a heel turn on him, mid match without his prior knowledge?

Seems like such a WCW thing to do!

Also how do you think the landscape of WCW would have been in 96 with Sting as the third guy? Would it have worked?

​Sure. Not as well as Hogan, but it would have worked and been a shock. And then the company would have probably gone out of business because I don’t see Sting drawing as a heel because Hogan would immediately get his revenge by destroying them and they’re back to square one. Really, getting Hogan off the board as top babyface is what set them on fire. ​
