The Warrior deal was the long term plan, but Tyson suddenly dropped into their lap and he would take precedence. Tens of millions beats a few million every time. You can always do Warrior at Summerslam. Standard rumor at the time was Tyson screwing Hogan to make Savage champ, and then doing Hogan v Tyson and Warrior v Savage as a double main at WM.

We’ll get into the Tyson loss shortly, but there was lots of other external factors besides the loss that led to him pulling out.
